Very Nice Restored Go Kart, Good Job :) My Neighbor Gave me a Old Vintage Go Kart, I think its an Amusement Park Go Kart, its Built Really Strong, It was Sitting for a long Time, it was rusted Solid :) There was so much rust inside the Tire rims, that i had to Cut The tires off the rims, and they are 2 Piece rims , I ground off and wire brushed the inside of the rims and painted them so that does not happen again :) I bought 4 Harbor Freight 13" Tires with tubes and rims, I used the original rims to keep it Original, I had some old 3HP Briggs and Stratton Engines laying around, and made a good running engine from a few old worn out engines, It Runs great, I fixed it Up for my Grand kids :) YEA RIGHT :) You cant get me off this go Kart and you Cant Wipe off the Big Grin I have from Ear to Ear, Ok I Do Let my Grand Kids ride it, I have a 1/2 acre Lot and all the rain we got a little While ago really made the weeds grow, No Weeds now, My Go Kart took care of them :) LOL, I am a 66 year old Grandma with 4 Grand kids and a Retired Female Fleet Equipment Mechanic, My Neighbors Think I am Crazy Riding this go Kart around, and They are Right :) LOL , Take care, Chellie Subscribed

I had the same rupp go kart back in the late eighties. It had dual engine mounting plates, a live axle and slicks on the back. I got it with no engine or gas tank. So I painted it hugger orange and put a 8 hp tecumseh engine on it. It kicked ass.

You did a beautiful job! I'm in the process of restoring the kart I had as a kid - A Broncco made by Fantic Motors in Italy. The frame is very similar to yours. I have read that Fantic copied this Rupp design with a few slight modifications. I'm changing the rear end over to a standard 1" axle (everything originally was metric) and upgrading to a modern hydraulic brake system. Power will be a WB-Chrysler 820, all four original wheels will be used. A really fun project but like yourself I have a difficult time fitting in it now!

What a great video!!! This guy is good!!! Beautiful job he did restoring this beautiful machine... The only thing that I NEVER would have done is, cut the rear axle carrier assembly off... These frames were set-up in jigs at the factory, and even a slight mistake in re-aligning and re-welding it could adversly affect the handling of the machine... And paint / blasting media, getting into the steering shaft bushings could cause a problem there as well. He should have masked these areas before the blasting, priming & painting took place....But everything else he did was very nice and his care & craftsmanship is awesome... This is a BEAUTIFUL job he did, restoring this very important piece of American History & ingenuity!!!

Back in the 70s I had that identical cart. Same color and same Pontiac style rims. Got it with no engine but I tried a few different ones. Luckily I was about 4-10 and now about 5-4 so I always fit nicely in them.

I had a kart that was made by the same mfgr. (Dart/Rupp) .... Mine was the chaparral model... I had a McCulloch Mc20 (80cc) and eventually went to a Mc91 (100cc) engine... It had the turbine wheels just like this one has... I now wish that I never sold it... American Ingenuity at it's best... Very simple engineering, light weight (135 lbs) and reasonably affordable extreme FUN!!!

Hilarious that you are able to weld, paint, prime, restore engines, but not capable of figuring out how to get the gas out of it after your son rides it in order to hang it up and display it.
@AtomicReverend5 жыл бұрын
I think it is because once gas gets in Cork and rubber it deteriorates it no matter how clean you think you have it. As an example. I have had NOS carburetors that worked like a champ that sat in the box since the early 1970s, I put them on the car and it sat for a year with no gas in it and it had a flat spot when you would accelerate, when I pulled the carburetor apart the accelerator pump and dried out and cracked
@ericowens9645 жыл бұрын
