Ruric Thar cEDH deck tech with Surreal

I gotta be honest, I literally spent today brainstorming what a Ruric Thar deck would look like. Came home, started putting stuff into a decklist. Thought about looking up if other people have made decks with him since he does counter most of the meta pretty well. And then here it is. The perfect video.

What a coincidence, been working on a klauth deck and used his primer as a base. Gruul is the 2nd worst color combination for edh, after orzhov from my vast experience. Its a challenge, props to the guy for not giving up on gruul. Also 1 of these days we have to talk about the fact that possibility storm right now combos with over 10 cards, I dont mean just synergies like ruric thar. Right been working on about 2 decks, all i got to say is ur-dragon+stinging study feels great.

Love ruric thar and was playing a stax list for a while but wasn’t getting any wins, probably because my LGS doesn’t play meta decks rather high powered decks. I’ve changed over to Belbe stax and the deck is much more explosive and I’ve been counting the wins. Maybe I will take a look again soon at rebuilding Ruric but really enjoying how fast belbe can pop off and stax down the table.

I fell in love with Ruric Thar ever since I started playing edh (even tho I dont have the deck lol). His design just screams how I love how to play edh -- Play some stax and sit back, then go big and smack hard.

Having played against a Ruric Thar deck with my combo/spellslinger Riku deck you have to respect it, taking 12-18 damage to remove it is sometimes the right choice. Just make sure you can win soon after removing him, if the Thar player gets to recast him after you've taken a chunk of damage from him the game gets kind of, out of reach.

Ah yes Ruric Thar, Cinder Vines the commander! I love the anti meta attacks decks! Personally I see Thar as Hulk in Avengers End Game after Banner had learned how to control him, I see this as an absolute win!

I wish people would stop with the "as Garfield intended" line. The man who gave us Black Lotus, the Moxen, Ancestral, Time Walk, and CHANNEL-FIREBALL did not intend for people to just beat each other with creatures. Or at the very least, he was woefully inept at sowing his intentions into his game

I had a cedh Ruric that deck and I had more wins with it than any other deck, then yoh add stax pieces like blood moon and nullrod and people literally can’t play anything

Because casual is Mainly creature based so ruric that will suck there. Cedh is more spell Slinging so it’s easier for him
