I paused the video at exactly 22 minutes to say this, I had a not bad day but utterly boring one. I've also been stressed completely cleaning my apartment because it got bad and have yet to kinda destress. I laughed out loud with tears and a smile at 'Daddy why are your eyes watering'. Rurikhan and Gaijin have a special kind of chemistry going on that just makes my day better by hearing it. And the guest is a treat too so far, although I don't know his content like others have been saying. But hey he praised smash or at least plays it so bonus points in my book. Thanks for making this guys, you truly have something special going on I'd say.

Underwater combat: propulsion system. Do a quest with a segment grabbing Ludroth parts or something for the buoyancy, craft those devices that attach to the hunter's arms and legs, as well as your weapons, and there you go. No need for a swimming speed skill, no slowness under water. Also enable if you go fast enough, you just fly out of the water--stylish resurfacing to the land!

@@marcheharvey2301 Good point. What I put was mostly to think about how to remove the clunkiness of the pure movements in the water. You got a whole surrounding area and depth perception to mess with, and how to make something new out of it? Whereas 4U and Rise deal heavily in verticality, with water depth is a big thing I think.

Velocidrome became one of my favorite designs thanks to Stories. It looks so good, that blue-red combo. Riding a Bulldrome is also awesome, so Stories upped that one in my book as well. The artstyle really sold some of the monsters REALLY well. Arzuros also was a big favorite of mine before, but seeing its fish-powered cross slash finisher really cemented it for me. It's so good. That bear was a mainstay for the whole game for me.

the discussion about what they would want for monhun 6 and specifically the open world portion is quite fascinating. It would be amazing if you would actually traverse the monhun world going from village to village doing quests, seeing hunters on their hunts and all. It would be really cool to see how they would concretize their world map into a seamless experience. Almost makes me think of an mmo version of monhun, kinda expressing the original idea of monhun wanting to be very multiplayer focused in a sense.

Man I LOVE Stories! When I played it I was blown away by how well it manages to translate MH's combat into turn-based. The way you have to know your monster, (and your monstie as well!), their patterns, weaknesses, quirks and gimmicks is just perfectly in-line with how we play the mainline titles. The monstie side of things is wonderful as well, it's like pokémon but way more in depth and fleshed out. Each monstie, even individuals from the same species feel like their own unique entity, that's why I think I have an easy time remembering my monsties' names as opposed to pokémon where I just call them pikachu and more often than not don't even bother to rename them.

It's interesting that a lot of people seem to go through an "initial disgust" phase with Monster Hunter. I started with 3U and it was unlike anything I'd ever played, and thought it was the most sluggish, archaic game ever. I didn't play it for an entire year until I picked it up again out of boredom and something clicked.

1:39:53 I don’t really agree with this, I’m kind of in the opposite camps as Gaijin here. I think that brachy is one of the only monsters that CAN keep up with hunters increased mobility. I think there are other monsters that suffer far more from the hunters being more mobile. I would hate to see brachy excluded because hunters move better. In my opinion, that’s kind of like saying we shouldn’t have had rathalos in Rise because we have more aerial movement with wirebugs so he’s not threatening in the air anymore.

Congratulation to Rurikhan to bring together all the MH pillars like Gaijin, Arekkz, Chris TDS and now Herny. I strongly disagree with him on quite a few sensitive points (I think Behemoth, Ancient Leshen and Safi'jiiva are utter shit and I think Fatalis armor and weapons were a great send-off for Iceborne), but I recognize he does a lot of work for MH. He was essentially filling the gap left by Gaijin when he decided to take a break during World-Iceborne. He is on par with Gaijin Hunter when it comes to covering MH, so I am glad that the two are joining forces and keep doing Podcasts.

I start playing Monster Hunter in Iceborne and my first impression was "This game is awesome but I don't like this longsword I should try something more." The silkbind move that surprised me the most was the Guarding Dash switchskill for Lance because of how crazy strong it is at KOing monsters. It is better than Hammer at KOing in terms on how many times you need to hit for it to stun but in exchange it has even less range than the hammer.

My friend and I were joking about the niece thing the other day saying that she might be Lyla from Riders. I mean, the description fits Lyla's character setting. She's strong and she drinks a lot. Also, the collaboration between Rise and Riders proves that both games exist in the same world that the characters from both games can interact with each other. Anyway, we were having fun guessing who that niece can possibly be. lol

27:17 I started two times with MHFU. In 2009, my brother pushed me to buy and play with him. He carried me all the way to G-rank (I was hiding in another zone while he was killing the monsters with his endgame equipment) and made for me the Yama armor and the azure Lao LS. But as a result, I was a total noob, I couldn't beat G-rank monsters on my own and even high rank monsters were kicking my ass. I quitted and sold the game. One year later, I bought MHFU a second time, decided to take my revenge. This time, I did the whole game solo and when I killed Ukanlos, I felt like I lifted a mountain. I went on playing MHFU for 1600 hours. Since then, I am a fan. I played MH3U, MH4U, MHW, MHWI. I always make a point of completing the games and crafting my equipment solo before going to MP to play with others (when that was possible, thanks paid PS+). It is by soloing my way through the games and the feeling of accomplishment when you beat the strongest monsters by yourself that made me love MH.

I will remember my first Fatalis kill forever too. Updste released at 2 am for me bur I had to wait for my friend to finish work the next day. So I watched Ruris stream, the whole copying of the update and turned it off when he began to fight fatty. I did some more regular quests or whatever and went to bed. It was a pain to wait for him. But he eventually came online and we went in to fight him. Tried him for 6 hours with different strategies etc. He grew tired of him and went to bed. I was so eager to kill him. So I kept going solo. I tried and tried getting better with each hunt. I would alwass survive a little longer and saw more openings. And after 16 hours non stop failing well over 50 attempts I finally managed to beat him. I was shaking like crazy the whole hunt it was so surreal. I cleared the quest 4 more times after that and went to bed. This probably will be my best mh experience ever. I encourage everyone to do him solo for the very first time. Because this is an experience you don't want to miss. My friend never did that and let him get carried through. I see so many plqyers asking for a carry and it's a shame. Everybody can do it if the make an actual effort to learning him. And if your gear is not good enough because he unlocks at MR 25 go farm better gear to achieve this goal but ultimatly it's your skill aw a hunter

So I didn't hate my first monster hunter experience as it was just a demo and I was too young to buy the game myself and liked the music and monsters. But didn't really understand the game I was probably 12 or 13. It was monster hunter freedom unite demo back in 2008 or 2009. Then world was announced roughly a decade later. I knew I needed to buy it and get into it. It was a game I always wanted to play. World was actually one of my most immerive time sunk game experiences I've ever had.

I'm really hoping they have "open world" where you go out into an area like our current maps, you can teleport between camps in that map, but to go to a dif. map or back to a village you have to travel to that zone manually like you did in old games when you'd travel through zones and go through a loading screen. it'd be awesome to chase monsters across different maps and environments. it'd also be awesome to have inventory Tetris for monster parts

Not a speedrunner, but i try to get sub 4 or sub 5 on each monster, and i gotta say, the only real reason i use a palico is if my build is really lacking in Affinity, like only 0 base affinity with weakness exploit. So in that case i use a Rousing Roar Palico. But other than that, Palamutes win this IMO. They attack when the hunter does, so when the hunter does well, they do well and proc sleep or paralyze effectively, especially when they have the umbrella on for that multi-hit status proc. Im at a point where i think Palamutes are superior in terms of just going all out offensive.

A lot more refined obviously and you'd get some cool swinging attacks, that would be so very cool. And you could still use it to mount the monsters like in Rise cause that's an amazing mechanic. That's what I would do if I was in charge of the game. But it's very challenging I realize that.

Recently got back into MH3U forgot that when monsters fly away to another area, they might throw a curve ball and head to another area instead. Like sometimes Qurupeco would head from area 7 in the Deserted Islands to area 5, but then head straight up to 9 or 10.
