Rurikhan, I think you are right about Rondine being Italian-inspired: 'rondine' means 'swallow' in Italian (the bird, not the act of swallowing lol). There's a bird embroided on her cape and you can tell it's a swallow by the shape of the tail. Also, swallows are migratory birds, which makes sense with her being a traveling merchant from a foreign land.

It's funny how most people are using the demo to take on Magnamalo... and yet I'm sitting here trying to get out of my weapon comfort bubble and finally tried out the Gunlance and a few others. And yes, Rurikhan, Gunlance is fun! I just need to adjust to it as I'm more used to weapons like Insect Glaive and Sword and Shield.

Daylight saving helps the farmers here in the midwest. They have access to businesses they need in case something breaks. Otherwise, the businesses close and they have to put their time sensitive work off till the next day. Then if it rains the next three days, it would put it off four days. It's a farmer thing, and if you want to make it harder for the people who feed us, go right ahead. I'll just change my clock. It also allows them to extend planting into the evening hours.

Unfortunately I'm kinda in the same boat as you :P The latest MH entry I've played was GU, and then the Rise demo (not Magnamalo though). Comparing Rise bow with 4th gen bow, I'd say the biggest difference is that you can charge bow shots by firing regular uncharged shots, as they will increase the charge level. This to me feels like the biggest change to get used to in Rise: less walking around and charging the shot and more just spamming arrows, at least for damage. That said I am definitely not a master with this weapon, so if someone with 5th gen experience with the weapon will add to this, make sure to listen to them!

That said, I would say you should just play around with the weapon by yourself and get a feel for how you can best enjoy it :) Read the hunter's notes for the weapon and then just experiment :)

Here in Finland, in the summer the sun might set at 3~4 AM (sic) and rise at 5 AM (sic). At midsummer, if you go north enough, the sun doesn't set at all. Then again at midwinter the sun might rise just above the horizon at ~12PM and set again at 2 PM, it's dark and it sucks.

Started my MHG game July 2016. Upgraded to GU around 2018. I beat Ahtal Ka 2020. I think I took my time pretty well. Played World up to 200 hours within 6 months till the quests being random drops pulled me from the experience. I want to play Rise as much as I can because free time is limited and I want to see as much as I can without rushing too much.

As someone who did pretty much everything MHGU had to offer, I'll say the deviant hunts are worth doing. The EX version of each deviant is definitely worth doing at least once. It took me a while, but I did it with random people,, so a coordinated team would make it a lot easier.

Keeping my hype up. Longest week ever ahead of me. Got 4 copies, one for myself and one for my GF and two of my coworkers who are interested. So excited to live out my psp fantasy of having 3 friends all in the same room screaming and slaying. Also excited because I will be carrying my friends who all are noobs, which means I’m going to be spending a lot of time in low tier low rank and really get the whole experience. I usually tear through the first tier and move straight to the mid tier monsters. I went through mhgu in bujabujabu armor until high rank, and yeah that’s expedient but that’s not how I want to play this one. I want ALL the sets.

Monster hunter is a game where it lasts as long as you make it last. Sure you can play until you beat the final boss and that's it. Or you can play a weapon, upgrade it as much as you can, build the best set you can, practice different weapons, grind for layered armor, etc. It's up to you to decide how long you wanna grind and enjoy the game.

I like DLS time. I live in Australia so having extra time to sync with buddies overseas is great. Personally I like taking my sweet time with a game. I don't get to buy many and the few I do I like to stretch the fun out as long as I can. So excited to do that with Rise. People that get World + Iceborne now should spend some time having fun in the World (High Rank) "endgame" for sure - poking dragons, going through the events, collecting ingredients and endemic life, some HR Kulve Taroth, some augmented weapons and armour, a couple dozen arena runs with friends. You're missing out if you rush it all. I'd say a good moving on point is HR100. It's also a great time to try out other weapons (and complimentary armour) because you'll have money and materials to experiment with.

Unless we're taking about animals - rondine is the italian word for swallow (the most known migratory bird), but Rondine travels by boat, so that might be just a coincidence.

So since Ruri hasn't played MH Stories 1, here's a quick (spoiler free) summary: - Main plotline: A phenomenon called "Black Blight" is slowly spreading across the ecosystem and may be related to an ancient legend carved into a stone mural. - Side plot 1: Your character's childhood friend, Cheval, hasn't been the same since he lost his mom (when a blighted Nargacuga attacked the village). - Side plot 2: An eccentric mad scientist has been experimenting with ways to technologically modify and control monsters. - Side plot 3: Navirou's amnesia and backstory. Gaijin hunter was correct: about halfway through the game this gets featured front and center for nearly _one entire dungeon._ Anyway... Yeah, once you've fought a monster a lot you start to learn what crazy things you can get away with ... (cook a Well-Done Steak? So tasty is no problem!) Yeah, the Deviant system in MHGU is pain to farm those armor sets. Farming the weapons is much easier (give that Soulseer CB a chef's kiss for me). I haven't watched any Magnamalo hunts (nor attempted it myself), but I agree that it doesn't take long to get a feel for whether you can win a hunt. Just last week I was attempting a G-rank event Ivory Lagiacrus in MH3U, solo (because MH3U 3DS), and given it took me nearly twenty minutes to get even ONE part break the only reason I stuck it out and failed was to keep some useful things I had gathered in the meantime. (For a normal Ivory Lagiacrus, even in G-rank, it only takes about 5-7 minutes to break the chest) Similarly, during my first shot at Dire Miralis I broke one part (the tail) less than 10 minutes in and estimated that maybe I actually could take it down solo (and ultimately did!). In MH4U, it originally took me 700 hours to reach Gogmazios. But after losing the save file (and starting over) it only took 300 hours to get there again, and I was still taking time to farm out specific weapons and armor sets (including sets I didn't craft the first time around, like Agnaktor and Barioth). Regarding leaks and spoilers, the channel Arlo (who covers a variety of Nintendo content) has a legendary anecdote: Back during the leadup to _Super Smash Bros. Brawl_ he didn't want to know too much about new characters, but one of his friends who _was_ up to speed with official news and announcements let slip just a few words: "yeah, but Solid Snake..." and -- wham, surprise spoiled. My closest anecdote is that when Sephiroth was revealed for Smash Ultimate, my first encounter with that information was a recommended video on KZbin's homepage (by Gamexplain) and not The Game Awards itself (which I immediately queued up to see firsthand). As for Rise's final monster, I have heard only that the one we were teased has a name (that may or may not rhyme with "Izuchi") and maybe there is another, as-yet-unrevealed monster that actually IS the final boss. This is roughly the same level of information as I had with MH World (i.e. Xeno'jiiva) and Iceborne (Shara Ishvalda). Though it is certainly more information than I had with Generations (Nakarkos) or Stories 1 (Makili Pietru).... I am currently biding my time with MH3U. I can take Lucent Nargacuga, Gold and Silver Raths can't be too different from later games, but Abyssal Lagi isn't available to me yet (and Hallowed Jhen probably can't be slain solo).

Idk if it's changing seasons that's gave me the flu or I'm just really excited that I neglected myself AGAIN (first one was in 4U). I've been spending my time with trying to beat Malo with different weapons (already beat it solo with LS) I wish for a daughter like Yuna 😂 someday, I'd wake up one afternoon and she's there asking me to play Monster Hunter. It feels nice to have someone have the same enthusiasm with something you grew up with especially your kid. Also Gaijin is an absolute unit. He can sleep while enemies are around 😂

Thanks for bringing up the spoiler issues. Devil May Cry 5 was completely spoiled to me a week or so before launch and it pains me to see people experiencing the same for Monster Hunter Rise now.

32:00 of course it was frame perfect. As in the guard frames of Guard Edge ended EXACTLY as he was hit. (Guard Edge frames dont last at all but you can block all attacks with it).

I was really excited when I heard they were adding Magnamalo to the demo. But I played it once, then deleted the demo. Basically exactly what Gaijin said, I realised I would need to grind and fully learn the monster to beat it, I don't want to do that with the flagship monster. I'll wait, it's only 10 days away now.

South East Asian here. We're off by 1 hour with Japan. Some country in SEA doesn't share timezone, but the gist of sunrise/sunset are generally 6AM (Sunrise) and 6PM (Sunset). It may varies with different ASEAN country, but it doesn't deviate much. It's one of it perks of being in the equator.

Totally on board about spoilers and such. Like if you don’t watch or play something day one people are gonna spoil things and say “well it’s out already!” But not everyone can do something day one! Too many leaks and trying to be the first to say something. Does my head in. The worst one for me was a major story point in a game I was really keen on. Throughout my play through that moment was constantly looming over me like I know that moment is coming and it completely ruined the impact of it. Hated it.

i have been spending the last 1 and a half months just abstaining from all games "mostly" in preparation for Rise. my only free pass is playing the rise demo sparingly so that i get more familiar with the mechanics/controls. that said, i have to say that personally, demo magnamalo has been my favorite demo experience EVER and my opinion of them has been greatly improved from my first impressions!

But Nerg and Velkana were 15 mins and it was doable and fine. I think the main problem with rise is that you have the stat bugs and tons of environment tools that they pretty much expect you to use. So because they plan on you using the environment they nerfed your starting stats compared to previous demo stats

Regarding your topic on speeding through the main story to get to the endgame, I want to say that I joined MHW around the time of the Raging Brachy update without buying the DLC, and I had the best time of my life. Looking back, I definitely burned through it really fast, but man was that game so much fun to experience as a new MH player. After I beat the story, I spent a while doing the base game endgame content to see if I would like the DLC. Loved the endgame of the base game, so I bought Iceborne and can now confidently say that MHW is my favorite game ever. I see a lot of new MH players coming into World who just use the defender gear to immediately get to Iceborne, which I think is a huge mistake. These same players will at some point feel like the game didn't give them much value. This issue happens mostly to new MH players who just assume you're supposed to get to the endgame quickly. I hope the same thing doesn't happen as much with Rise for new players. Old players won't have as much of a issue with this because they have been with MH for a while, and have already experienced the main things the games have to offer. TL;DR, new players need to take it slow, but old players can go fast if they want. :)

Hopefully you will. They're trying to encourage hunters to help others out in Rise, not that many needed incentives to do so, but it has been a issue since World.

Rurikhan you should, at the end of Project Deviant, try to hunt all the EX Deviants solo. doing that really put my abilities to the test as a hunter and felt so good when i fully hunted every deviant solo, finishing off with Bloodbath Diablos. It is FAR from easy but it is one heck of an accomplishment and puts your abilities to the test Also i really hope nothing else gets spoiled during the last 10 days i have before the game wherever i end up looking on the internet. the things theyve shown already are very much enough to get a great sense of the game and have the hype still going. these 10 days are going to be one heck of a brutal wait as i try my hardest to avoid any magnamalo combat/armor/weapon info or new unshown combat/armor/weapon info. the less i know the better the game will be much like how i thoroughly enjoyed SwSh (despite it not being well received by the masses) because i didnt know much about what to expect from that game compared to all the info the company decided to drop on the older games
