To start off. All the people that are blaming Drongo for the failure of the team; you all need to watch the replay itself. The moment the opposing team identifies they're playing against Drongo, the whole team huddles and discusses exclusively how they're going to take him down. No similar strategizing is going on with Drongo's team; no grand strategies about how they're going to boost him up or even each other up; no grand strategies of how they're going to take down any of the opposing team or even assessment of who is the biggest threat or liability on the opposing team. AbsoluteLee quarterbacks and identifies to the team immediately that Drongo is playing, he's playing the geo spot, and he is without a doubt going for some cheese strategy. Other members of the team call for priorizing air, AA, and anti-nukes. Several of them suggest cheesing Drongo. AbsoluteLee identifies that the weakest spot in Drongo's strategies collectively is in the very early game; he calls for prioritizing immediately rushing Drongo and breaking the front via T1. Drongo's team has no comparable communications or strategizing. 43 seconds in AbsoluteLee calls for early and immediate air scouting. CaptainPeirogi opens with an aircraft lab; builds a transport and boosts the short sea player's commander to the shore line to build mines. Swampstrider starts handing out T1 constructors and resbots. AbsoluteLee immediately advances to the frontline and builds fucking OverWatch to crack the front line. Based on the advice of AbsoluteLee, the team prioritizes artillery for the frontline and immediately starts hammering any attempts to establish a standard LLT front on the part of Drongo's team. AbsoluteLee uses aggressive turret creep to drive a wedge into the front. Pierogi shutsdown the hover assaults being carried out by Halofan4life; Halofan4life is basically not communicating with the team about this. 9 minutes in Drongo's team's front has completely collapsed leaving Drongo and the two front players wide open with few losses on the side of the opposing team. Most of the front immediately advances on Drongo's position. Pierogi and Unitexile have secured the remote islands; Swampstrider is distributing T2 constructors to the front players pretty much without being asked to. 12 minutes in Drongo has responded to the threat coming for him; his particular flaw is he doesn't realize I think that he's no longer just "some player" and that the opposing teams in general view all the players on the map as equal threats, so he's responding to a generic front push when the front push isn't aimed at ANYONE other than him specifically. They take him out and the rest of the game is probably a bog standard tug-o-war; as long as he's in the game, his team can be absolute bickering infighting bullshit and still end up winning because he carries them kicking and screaming to victory. 13:25, the fears of the opposing team are realized. They spot the marauders pushing back on their T1 assault. None of the rest of the team is credible threat at this point. Drongo is T3 while everyone else on his team is struggling to field T1 forces and get T2 infrastructure up. The backline players haven't contributed nearly as much to the forward players on Drongo's team as compared to opposing team. Evolved Monkey immediate reclaims the Advanced Geo. Fiends are moved to defend the geo spot; they immediately begin queuing up a bunch of static defenses. Unitexile and Pierogi immediately converge on a call for and response to produce emp air to counter the marauders they know are coming. Under stress and strain there's internal team misplay between Pierogi and Swamp. Swamp has contributed significant value to the team in the first 15 minutes of the game but clearly struggles with where to go from mid to late game. Pierogi gets a bit sharp with Swamp; Pierogi's pretty good at team play but could work on their communication skills a bit so as to not be snide, sarcastic, and acerbic to their teammates. Calling for your team mate to quit because they're not playing superoptimal is a bad look. 20 minutes in, all unit players are moving together as a team and swarming in to absolutely crush Drongo. The only other credible threat is Doink, and Doink's trying to play T1 hover spam against the sea player that has moved into T2. I'll note that Space_Balls specifically denied Drongo air support but did use their fighter screen to help Doink's failed push that got shutdown by the superior air and sea forces and coordination of the opposing team; this is specifically a case where Space_Balls played to deny the crumbling front much needed support while wasting significant resources on useless bullshit that wasn't even advancing the team's position let alone maintaining it. Misplay on the part of AbsoluteLee and Pierogi at 23 minutes where they insult their backline player that has been immensely supportive and proactive throughout the vital early minutes of the game. 2 minutes later Doink is the only opponent still standing. The apologies from AbsoluteLee are good, but Pierogi in particular needs to work on their constructive and supportive critique communications. During the course of the early game, Swamp gave pretty much every single player T1 or T2 constructors and support units. That significantly advanced the team economy allowing the sea players to absolutely take their respective territories and produce and develop significant land infrastructure. These contributions largely counteracted any of the damage done to the players by Halo's early hover raids. My criticism of the team is that they didn't pay enough attention to these contributions by Swamp; Swamp repeatedly had to ping other players to remind them to take the units that Swamp made and gave them, and few of them expressed gratitude for this largely pro bono team contribution. Swamp could learn some things from watching eco player videos, but a lot of players could learn some things about being a team player and team eco player from Swamp. Swamp is second in eco ONLY to the geo player, EvolvedMonkey, and everyone is presuming to give Swamp advice on how to play eco. Their main frustration is that they wanted T3 spam sooner and the T3 production was secondary consideration to the eco expansion that Swamp was focused on. Swamp was correctly focused on getting the advanced energy converters up fastest to make maximum use of the AFUS that most players waste.

excellent analysis! but still: this game is no different from thousand of other strait maps: front is under pressure, by whatsoeverreason - its THE FRONT - and front player, mid player AND ALL OTHERS need to cover this - and not say "in 3 mins i´m t2" or "I´m going afus and t3 and will sent units in x minutes"...

@marshallhutzler5940
@marshallhutzler5940 Жыл бұрын
That analysis was amazing. Although I would argue that with the front players essentially demolished, reclaiming t3 was a misplay on drongos part. If he keeps making maurauders or goes into razor backs he might be able to stall long enough for the rest of the team to provide aid. Even if they dont, repelling a push, sending 1 amphib attack, and reclaiming only means of unit production does not seem wise. But I am open skill 4 so..... i could be very wrong
@KAClown
@KAClown Жыл бұрын
@@marshallhutzler5940 I didn't bother with analyzing Drongo's misplays because most of them ultimately didn't matter due to lack of team cooperation or outright team hostility and trolling. His greatest misplay was in thinking that he was an unexceptional player in an average game where the aggro is spread out relatively evenly among all the other players on his team. He got maximum aggro from the opposing team and he even got significant aggro from his own team members. On an individual, context-free scope, I agree in bulk with your analysis; Drongo needs to get a lot better at paying attention to and communicating with the front players; he'd get a lot farther in more games if he was making sure that the front does not fall basically every time. If he practices being able to outright become the front if necessary then he'll become a very scary top level player. A huge hurdle for him in that is to stop looking at low skill players or lower skill players than him as inferior/liabilities/expendible-team-mates, and for him to stop looking at people with the same skill rating or higher than him as trustworthy, commendable, and idolizable players. Both ways, his team play skills, communication skills, and situational awareness skills need some work; it is complicated by the fact that he's generally focused somewhat on the fact that he's making a video while playing. In this game, he absolutely would have had to have twigged to the fact that the front was crumbling fast, and he was being specific targeted by the whole opposing team. 1) he should have been more focused on making sure the front had the resources it needed in the first 10 minutes of the game 2) reinforcing the front in the 5 to 15 minute interval at least until the front was pushing and not being pushed. 3) immediately retooled to fight the invasion targeting him. There was a moment where he had T3 units and pretty much no one else did, and they WERE the front. His mistake at that moment was to commit entirely to going after the geo player when there was no fall back position, and it was at least plausible to him that the whole opposing team knew exactly what the play was from the moment they saw those units on at least. That moment was almost entirely uncoordinated on his team. Something I'm vaguely surprised at is how Drongo for all his love of resbots never uses significant resbot ball tactics. In the high level games, resbot balls often make or break a game because you can get a whole army or even recover entire players on your team for a relatively cheap energy cost. Reclaim good when you have no metal; ressurect better when you have excessive energy production, and Drongo easily optimizes around the level where he can stream resbots.

@@felixknof437 It isn't a bog standard game. This is 8 vs 1 player. I'm in awe of AbsoluteLee's first two minutes of the game. He just straight up skips LLT as standard open; he sets down a popup lightning, an overwatch then starts aggressive turret creep with more popup lightning turrets before establishing a guardian. All the while, he exploits the popup lightning turret advantage by kiting opposing units with his mobile artillery. The fact that PolarBearKing went all in on mobile offenses while leaving the static defenses to AbsoluteLee is probably a significant aspect of them winning and them being able to crack the front in less than 9 minutes. Drongo pulled the aggro of the entire opposing team. Turb007 and WinchesterRick did pretty good with icred and SewerSlvt in particular doing good support of the front and the rest of the team. The front though could be more communicative about what their needs and what the threats/difficulties are. When Turb007 gets hammered down, the rest of the team doesn't even much acknowledge it let alone immediately get Turb007 back up and playing somewhere in the match. There's a lot to be said about the asymmetry of information here in the conflict. Most of the opposing team and many of Drongo's team know who he is and what he's capable of. They're familiar with his specific strategies on this specific map. He doesn't in general have the same knowledge about them. He didn't just draw all the aggro from the opposing team; also, he drew a bunch of aggro from his own team. Space_Balls and Doink were playing nice together, but they were isolated from and at best non-communicative with the rest of the team. SewerSlvt stands out as the team player on Drongo's side; icred seems the next most proactively cooperative. Halofan4life made some decent plays, but they pretty much never communicated about anything. Space_Balls took 22 minutes to get up one AA. Ha1ofan4life played pretty well--could of made better use of static defenses and teched into better economy sooner, but played well past the end. There's a moment at the end when people are dropping out that Ha1o takes control of units of players that dropped to try and get back in the game. Only major problem is never talks or communicates with the rest of the team; their play almost makes them seem like a bot.

Honestly even going into a couple pitbulls/scorps along the front would have gone a lone way to reestablishing the lines. There was a moment when you were taking the nodes of the upper front liner where you might have been able to just BECOME that front liner but keep the eco from mid and that would have been good too.

had no front because the left front folded from a *single attack* . Air didn't react at all - just built fighters - so right front was doomed because of the air but actually held longer because of drongo. Air had a second chance because of that. Second attack would've been a non-issue and his eco would've been built up - again the marauders almost saved the match from the early front loss - if air had actually done their job from the start. The marauder push died so fast because the enemy team air was doing their job, literally case in point. You're massively undervaluing the geo. It's basically half an afus in early game equivalency.

I wonder if frontline wouldn't appreciate more if you instead trickled in the equivalent 10 bulls or 30 mausers or 7 starlights (or a mix there-of) that a gantry and the first marauder costs. If an opposing player did the same fast-marauder maneuver, I know which force I'd rather have. It certainly would've done a lot to prevent the frontal collapse.

Content or not, you're screwing up the game for your team. I don't know why you made video evidence of being a bad team player. The thing that drives me up the wall is taking reclaim from your dead front and putting into a maur push. My opinion, flame me if you like - but this is not how you win games consistently.
