Hey Scott My name is Leon Respress and I also work for ADS down here in Sebring,FL. I’ve been working here for 4 months and I am a production hauler, but also load those trailers as well. Hope you continue to make these videos and keep enjoying your job. God Bless you and your family.

Excellent video sir! Ole flatbed driver here. I’ve never seen one of these trailers in action. One question does ads have driver facing cameras?
@RushinTruckinАй бұрын
@@adamhilton667 they didn’t but unfortunately, all their new trucks are coming equipped with not only driver facing cameras but cameras all around the truck that can see all the way down both sides of the trailer. They’re also AI equipped and can detect if you’re distracted driving (ie supposedly you’re only allowed to take 6 drinks per hour or it’ll tell on you!!!) They’re also implementing a phone policy where you can’t talk to anyone other than work related conversations while working 😡🤦🏼♂️. I don’t drive for them anymore but I talk to a guy who does. He’s about to get his new truck in a couple weeks

Hey Scott, love your videos! looks like a fairly easy job, I have delivered to some construction sites while doing OTR, can be nerve wracking not knowing exactly where to go and tight maneuvering but that's trucking. Just wondering, since you have the experience, have you looked at any local home daily trucking jobs near home? if you are ready to make that transition?
@RushinTruckin2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes, I’ve looked into local driving jobs. At this time, I’m not interested for two reasons. Of the positions I’ve seen, the pay isn’t worth it. Most of the time, you’re working out your 14 then committing to and from on top of that. There was one I was offered that I seriously considered that pays per load, is m-f, and make about $1500/week. It’s a good offer but I’m not ready to come off the road yet.

Do you miss millis at all? I’m still on the fence… I live close to the Trenton terminal so maybe I should try millis for my training school? What do ya think? I have no experience
@RushinTruckin3 жыл бұрын
No, not really. They had (have?) Nice equipment and the trucks were outfitted nicely. They were also a great place to learn. I'd go to them again if I had to do it over again. Stay there for your 1 year contract, stay safe, and don't hit anything then you'll be able to go to a better paying carrier. Once you hit 2 years then virtually all carriers will be open to you. Keep in mind, though, they're owned by Heartland Express. I know they're have been changes but I'm not sure what all of them are.

@@RushinTruckin Thanks for the reply man, two more question, How was it adjusting to the lifestyle and how often can you take a shower?
@RushinTruckin3 жыл бұрын
You're welcome. Everybody's going to adjust differently but, for me, it was an easy transition. I'm an independent introvert so I charge my mind and body by being either by myself or with very close loved ones. Because of that, it was no problem transitioning to being alone for extended periods of time. I like being and staying clean so I try to get showers every day. With my current job, I stay in the same hotel every night so it's easy. When you're staying in the truck every night, you can do it a couple different ways: 1) plan to shower during your DOT required 30 min break which will then allow you to shut down anywhere later that day/night 2) plan to shut down at a truck stop that has a shower. Nearly all of them have showers. They cost somewhere around $12. If you're at an independent "mom n pop" truck stop, you'll most likely not have any rewards points to pay for it so you'll have to pay for it out of your pocket (few company's reimburse). When you fuel at least 50 gallons at the major truck stops (Love's, Pilot/Flying J, Petro, TA), you'll get a shower credit which is good for 7 days typically. You can use that to shower for free but it has to be at the same chain you fueled at (not same location... chain. Ex fuel at Pilot in Indiana then use shower credit at a Pilot in Georgia). That's a general overview of it. There are different perks at each chain to keep you using them versus the other but that's more detail that's not needed right now. Unless you're an owner operator (own your own truck), the company you drive for will dictate which chain you need to fuel at (some company's even tell you the exact location you MUST fuel at too) Hope that answers your question clearly.

@@RushinTruckin Thanks very much, I hate the idea of not being able to a take a shower often, I heard one truck driver say he gets a shower about 3 days a week which really put me off to the whole thing but this helps so thanks again
@RushinTruckin3 жыл бұрын
Oh...there are def drivers out here that do that or even go longer and it's NASTY! It does take effort to get showers out here but 1 a day is def doable, you just have to make it a priority
