the late night wars -He gave up his spot on the late show to replace Jay Leno on the Tonight Show - big boost for his career. I was introduced to his work when studying psychology since some of the modern day therapies are closely related to the philosophy of Buddhism. I've never seen Conan as visibly uncomfortable with a guest as he is with Brand. The guy has all the exaggerated and aimless energy of Robin Williams without any of the charisma or humor.

I think you're mistaking Robin Williams approachability and unthreatening physical appearance as more charming. Russel Brand is sexually appealing and his humour is irreverent in some respects yes, but I believe he just as genuine and thoughtful as Robin was. Robin's humour I found lacked an intellectual component that Russel's exceeds at. All respect to Robin for the wonderful human he was, I personally don't appreciate his humor as much as I can appreciate Russel's.
