Americans strive for perfection while Britons distrust perfection, you see it in everything from movies to commercials to TV shows. If we did a show like Ugly Betty we'd find an actor that suited the title role instead of taking someone as beautiful as America Ferrera and saying "Here, wear these glasses - they'll make you less attractive." Compare the major soap operas of both nations, you have the wealthy, middle class families of Days of Our Lives versus the skint, working class families of Eastenders - everyday Americans don't like to be reminded of where they are while everyday Brits don't like to be reminded of where they are not.

For non Brits (per Wikipedia): Dogging is a British English slang term for engaging in sexual acts in a public or semi-public place or watching others doing so.[1] There may be more than two participants; both group sex and gang banging can be included. As observation is encouraged, voyeurism and exhibitionism are closely associated with dogging. The two sets of people involved often meet either randomly or (increasingly) arrange to meet up beforehand over the Internet.[2]

There is something perfect about that clip, the sofa, the interaction. Capturing each guest at their best. Just as 2 friends you introduce bring out the very worst in one another, this vignette captures a moment where the sum IS greater than the parts. Graham genuinely laughing, Kate genuinely laughing (and isn't she a lovely inconparable drug when she does), Russell being the genius he is and Tiny coming across as fun and decent yet still v cool and rooted in the real world. A sofa full of balanced real world celebrities. Kate is Kate, she's magical. The others are simply British and Irish. Wearing their hearts on their sleeves. Alive, inquisitive, egos exposed to ridicule and, ultimately, great to be around as a result. I watched it twice in a row because it was so refreshing and, unusually based on its premise, life-affirming.

The first time I saw this I immediately googled "dogging". 😂 Since I have heard Brits talk about it fairly regularly. Most Americans have no idea what it is.

I still don't really know what "dogging" is, and I'm in my fifties. I have heard it in some interviews or talk shows like this, but not really explained. Yes I know I could "google" it but I just have not :)

Let me help you... Public sex usually at the end of a dark lane or on a parking spot in a wood, people turn up and look through the car windows.. or join in.

@jesusisapisces4 жыл бұрын
@@StuntmanDanHemi think about it in terms of American TV shows and British ones. American actors tend to look 'perfect'. Slim, nice teeth, nice skin and hair. So in a way there is no difference between the celeb and the character they're portraying. In contrast, British actors tend to look like anyone you could see oh the street. Perfect teeth isnt a requirement nor is being slim or looking made up. The argument here is that American viewers of either porn or tv shows tend to gravitate towards fantasy whereas British viewers prefer things that seem familiar, ordinary and accessible.
