You’re our favourite contestant on “Alone” & got us subscribed to your social media following. We think you’re a pretty cool, down-to-earth & humble guy with cultural knowledge, so listened carefully to what you had to say. It is sad what’s happening & personally believe Russia shouldn’t expand its borders, that other nations step in. Hope your friends stay safe in the years to come.

The algorithms social media uses has kept people in loops, and overtime you see a huge rift in people who actually share a lot of the same values… just difference of opinion. It’s come to us not being able to have a conversation with the other side and just labeling and dismissing what the other side has to say. The situation is very very sad.

Well said. We used to depend on each other. As a child I ran around until it got dark, and the neighbors would watch out for their child and all the others too. We knew and liked each other. We were told never talk about religion or politics and we didn't. Now we barely know our neighbors, and have learned to rely on ourselves. My opinion only. Thank you for saying this.

Thank you for sharing your thoughtful comments. I’ve actually been waiting to see if you would say something, knowing your close ties within Russia. It is so easy to try and categorize this, as well as any war as good vs evil. It is as if labeling it can make the senseless make sense, but that negates the individual experience of every soldier I’ve encountered. My thoughts and prayers are with all people in the center of a conflict that did not start with them but for many will sadly end with them.

I agree but sadly I think the differences are growing to extremes that are making people truly enemies to your rational goal. And those arrogant enemies are in control of education and news and are extremely self righteous, intolerant, and arrogant towards anyone that doesn’t agree with them. I just hope we get better leadership that can successfully humble people soon so we can go back to having healthy debates.

I love your message on trying to close the gap instead of widening the rift. Having lived in Ukraine for a few years it indeed is heartbreaking to see the destruction happening. Something I'm working on is assuming best intent based on the information people have. Keep up these videos! It helps everyone re-address the silos they may have fallen into, myself included. God bless.

I agree that it took a lot of people by surprise. Even after the Maidan protest in 2014 around when this all kind of started I bet a lot of people figured that Russia got Crimea and would be satisfied. Or when they shot that Airliner down and the news cycle peaked and then kind of died out. Man, were we wrong. There are even reports that the Russian troops didnt even know exactly what they were doing until a certain point. How can so few elite politicians control so many lives? The government should fear its citizens with proper checks and balances. Hopefully this is a wake up call to the West. Stop making deals with Iran and Russia and China.

1:12 - Culturally? Yes. Historically? Also yes but with the caveat. Ukraine was pretty much Russian colony or vassal state for long time and both Nations claim they are successors to Kyivan Rus. Ukraine (or at least its predecesor) was also for a quite time part of Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, which was a rather Western empire culturally.

Similarities, not the same. Slavic, orthodox, shared recent history, many Ukrainians living and working in Russia and vice versa, shared ancestoral history at least partially (kievyin rus) etc..similar challenges from ottomans, from the golden horde etc etc..not the same, but sharing in common as much as two distinct people's can..the shared aspect does not wash out the differences, but it points to the idea that aside from the geopolitics and such, they have much more in common with each other than say...Ukraine and turkey, or Russia and china.. i hate to see the division grow and infused with more hatred (I think that is even how Zelensky described it)

@hobojordo2 жыл бұрын
That's why this situation went too far, and we don't want that to repeat...because these guys won't throw them down because they think they are fighting for good, against fascism and genocide. That's the closed information silos that people can't stay in, unaware of the complexity and outside perspectives, or it will lead towards this...it's also an extra factor to take into account that Russia has universal conscription, so telling an 18 year old that he should ruin his life to consienciously object to a reality that he is unaware of and hasn't been exposed to is a lot to ask. I wouldn't be surprised if many of them thought they'd be greeted as liberators based on the information they have...(perhaps they were in the far east)

I follow your channel from another channel of mine. Just give it a moment.. I believe it'll end with an interesting twist. It's all sad of course, but I believe there is a much bigger agenda that most are not aware of, and at some point everyone will understand when the truth comes out. Consider pulling and securing some of your wealth in something tangible, like gold and silver and bury/hide it for the time being. It'll get scary before getting better. We'll be fine, at least I'm hopeful.

That chasm between Russia and Ukraine has been caused by a concerted effort by our western governments over the past 20 years. The colour revolutions, the West-funded/backed government overthrows, the funding of militantly anti-Russian groups like the Azov Battalion, the propaganda campaigns...none of this is incidental. Ukraine was by far Russia's most strategically, culturally, and economically important ally, so splitting them off from Russia was the ultimate wet-dream in the West's efforts to subdue and strangle the bear so to speak. Imagine Russia coming into Canada, helping overthrow our democratically elected government, and then trying to get us to join their military bloc so that they can set up military bases right along the US border. It would be absurd to expect the US to take it sitting down. I'm not saying the Russians are responding in the right way, but I'm also not saying that they're the bad guys in this. And it's tragic that the elites of the world feel fit to play games with the livelihood of millions of Ukrainians, who they see as nothing more than disposable pawns in a game of chess. But that's world history in a nutshell I guess.
