As an Australian who has no "Dog in the fight as they say" i have quickly come to realise that this has nothing to do with helping Ukraine win but rather "try to weaken Russia" so people were right from the beginning, it's just that the truth slowly but surely comes out. Nuland recently said so with a big smile on her face that the deal was talked out of by these war mongers. Though she did mention how "they didn't like the agreement" well.. Russia have handled this battle beautifully and they have denied AFU and NATO every attempt to stick up their heads. war is bad, i just don't get why Ukraine is so insistent on not having a neutrality doctrine in their constitution, like they had before. was it really worth all this wasted lives? really, those that decided to fight it out, will not be looked at kindly by historians. Ukraine got used and in the end they will have to sign on to Russians conditions anyway, just with a lot less land left. at the same time Russians will have a massive battle hardened army at their disposal. the whole thing was so predictable. sadly modern day politicians are not known for long term thinking, it's only ever about the next election cycle and how to con folks in to voting for them.

Simply put, Russia has the numbers and the Kursk adventure was a massive fvck up. Those elite soldiers were needed to boost these defenses but instead went on a meaningless journey. From what i have heard so far Russians mainly exploited Ukrainian rotations and keep storming lightly defended areas with their UAVs roaming freely. All those vaporized equipment's in Kursk could have helped here massively. and sadly Ukranians dont even ask why.

When the war is over, someone will need to write a critical assessment of Russian strategy and tactics. Hindsight makes this possible. FWIW, US doctrine calls for encirclement whenever possible. For example: Gen MacArthur's massive landing at Inchon in 1950, which cut off advancing DPRK forces in the south and led to their disaster. Easier said than done.
