For those who were paying attention at the start of the invasion, both Poland and the UK showed resolve where the EU proved docile and out of touch. Perhaps some of the criticisms from the EU of Poland in recent years were also fuelled by a prejudicial, bureaucratically straight-jacketed, group thinking EU, comically naive in its world view, even the notion of proper military spending or situalional awareness.

I honestly don't know why Orban and Hungary are in either the EU or NATO, Orban is continually at odds with both organizations and frequently takes Putins side, he acts like a mini dictator the way he has neutered Hungary's judiciary and media. He either wants to be an authoritarian or a real democrat, if not both should kick Hungary out.

That would be no excuse for Mexico to invade. In the Republic of Ireland, people mostly speak English because of the colonial past. That would be no excuse for Great Britain to invade. Concerning to me is the requirement for these military aid package to be made in the EU. I'm all for improving production in the EU but artillery shells are needed now in Ukraine and they should be sent by the most expeditious way possible. Get Ukraine the ammunition it needs now without delay.

Nothing on this ammo deal stops the EU from acquiring urgently needed ammo elsewhere while they set up this more permanent production within the EU. Putin will not stop. Neither the Russian population nor their leadership have given any indication they will give up this brutal and ill-fated invasion endeavor... So that means Ukraine and Europe will have to protect themselves from Russian aggression for the foreseeable future. We are unfortunately in it for the long-haul, so setting up a more permanent production base within the EU will ensure shorter logistic lines, proper financing, production goals are met, money spent will be kept within the Union (including costs, profits, wages, and taxes), and therefore, ammo production will be more sustainable. Hope this helps frame what I think is going on in the minds of Western leaders - and that they do have what's best for Ukraine's continued and effective defense - as well as their own collective defense - foremost in mind.

It's a bit rough that some countries are looking at Ukraine for some sort of battlefield progress when the west has been so tardy with supplies. Why hasn't Biden used the Defense Production Act to prioritize ammunition supplies? It seems to me also that it should have been a wake up call to western leaders that ammunition was going to be a priority, even from the early days of the invasion in the east consumption rates were obvious. Every thing going to Ukraine seems to be a day late and a dollar short, even the small diameter bomb is not available till late this year, absolutely pathetic. The US should have supplied ATACMS already and hundreds of the stored Abrams last year. The west's fool politicians have bought into the whole escalation narrative that the Russians have been peddling which has cost many more Ukrainian lives.

Yes, not all of the tanks, IFVs, artillery systems, etc. pledged will get to Ukraine in time for the spring offensive. However, enough of it will get there and considering Russia’s armored forces have been so denuded they’re now shipping T54s that are 75 years old and half the size of modern tanks to the front. Only a tiny fraction of their manpower still include professional soldiers. They have switched to strict shell rationing and there’s little indication they will be able to ramp up production of shells let alone tanks, missiles, etc. to supply even half of what they needed. They will be crushed in at least one direction when Ukraine launches its counter offensive.

There is quite a bit of debate in South Africa concerning the warrant for Putin's arrest. Some academics refer to the ICC as being a Eurocentric organisation that SA should have rejected. One in particular stated that SA was duty bound to execute the warrant and should. The neo fascist Economic Freedom Fighters said that they would escort Puti from the airport to his meeting place and back. SA is very divided in its stance on the war. One thing' is for sure, if Russia did invade SA, it would be a question of three days. Russia would come up against SA's secret weapon. Within three days Russia's army would be stolen.
