Dan; I do not know why you always apologize for your English, because you are doing absolutely AMAZING learning our language. I am actually more surprised that by the price of things, as I expected to be so much higher. It still seems like cost of living is so much less than in the United States. You are doing a wonderful job of taking care of your family through all of this. Living off of the land that you have, is what our ancestors have done since time began. Your insight to remove the poisons from your diet and only eat what the earth provides, is exactly what all of us should be doing right now, if we have the availability. PLEASE do not ever feel that you have to apologize for your English. You are doing GREAT!! Sending much love 💕 light 🌠 prayers 🙏🏻 and an abundance of beautiful🌹blessings to you, Suzy, Sati and all, from the magical 🦆Oregon🦫 coast. 🌊🌊🏄♀️🏖🪁

It's amazing how similar this looks like my local Lowes/Home depot here in Southern California. Even the customers in their shorts, Hawaiian shirts and flip flops could be my neighbors. Let's hope that stupid war ends soon and we can remember that we have more in common than not.
@deanowens3342 жыл бұрын
Sadly, the war won't just 'end', it has to be stopped which has to be a willful decision made by the aggressor. I hope the Russian people can convince their leadership to end it, one way or another. Love stepping into the Russian equivalent of where I work... The large wood boards are 'plywood' and the PVC boards are for 'Decking'. Great video. THANK YOU Dan!

My hubby could build and repair just about anything. Sadly, pancreatic cancer took him from me. He LOVED a challenge! He would have loved that store! We spent many hours and so much money in Lowes and Home Depot! We owned a rent house that flooded twice due to hurricanes! Hubby rebuilt it twice! We had to rip out all the walls, replaced flooring(carpets, tiles, etc. So much work but we did it. Plus built a hunting/fishing cabin, and remodeled our home, well most of it. Flooring is an overall name for what we install on floors. It could be carpet, wood, ceramic tile, porcelain tiles, vinyl too. (Plastic) The wood looking long plastic boards that are used outside would typically be called a ‘deck’ in America. A deck is usually a place outside to enjoy especially in the back yard. ‘Deck’ can mean different things in America. The big sheets of wood (plywood) used in roofing can also be called deck boards or decking. I’m sure it’s confusing. I’m shock at how expensive plants are in Russia!

Hey Dan you know what would be cool? Every once in a while, show us how to pronounce some Russian words! For example, I was wondering what the name of the hardware store was when you walked in. To my uneducated eyes, I can’t even pronounce the word on the outside of the building when I saw it. I just don’t know what sounds each letter makes in Russian, or how to pronounce the vowel sounds even 😂 anyhow, old school adorable here, hope you all are doing great! Edit: I want to elaborate just a little to make sure I’m not misunderstood. I love that you tell us what certain things are called in Russian, and how to say them. My comment is more asking about showing us a word in Cyrillic (I just googled that), and sounding out each “letter” for us. I hope im not coming across as pushy, I’m just so curious! Thanks again!

There are some good KZbin videos that are for children learning to read Russian. I learned most of the alphabet in a day. Still working on the sounds of the Russian language that doesn't have an English equivalent. After a month I can read most Russian words but don't understand what the meaning of them are. I also like how you share Russian words and their meanings. I studied Russian in college and appreciate it when you share a Russian word with its English meaning. I also find it interesting how you learned English from watching American movies, but you pronounce certain words like a Britt: Aluminum is pronounced AL-LU-MEN-NEM in the U.S. People waiting in a line is called a line, is not a queue. It's a line. If you say queue, we understand but it's not what we call it. To sound more American, always say it is a line of people waiting to pay for something. To sound more British, say it is a queue. At 18m18s, the squares are called floor tiles (напольная плитка). I love watching your videos and how you share and talk about your life in Russia. Be well, and best wishes to you and your family. Nate. 50 British Vs American Word Pronunciations - Part 1 - KZbin

This is just like the home improvement stores we have here in Germany, and judging by the name of your store (Baucenter), it might also be a Germany company that owns yours there. I absolutely love going through these stores, and it was even more fun to look at everything with you. Give Suzy and Sati beiba my love! 💜💜💜

That place is humongous compared to our Home Depot’s and Lowe’s. So much more of a variety of each different things. I love the stairways that were already built and on a back display against a wall as you were walking through the wood department. 😃how fun to see your builder’s supply shop. And it’s so fun to hear how you say what things are in Russian. Lol, I know the English words, the Russian ones are interesting to hear. Thank you again for sharing this with us. And by the way, I had no idea it got so hot there! 🤯🥵 give your lovely ladies Susie and Sati hugs and hellos for me when you get home. 🙂❣️❣️❣️

I will disagree. The size is identical to Home Depot and Menards. Also the difference is, they have one giant surplus store with all the material. We have the same stores. Just more of them. Menards, lowes, Home Depot
@BrandonAllen4192 жыл бұрын
looks about the same as any home depot, lowes, or menards i've been in.

Yeah idk where you live in the USA but in Florida our Home Depot abd lowes are almost identical to the store in this video. Most developed countries have something similar and they all pretty much cooy off the proven models that work best. It is cool to see what all is available in Russia. I liked how they had all the mockup preview showers and bathroom vanity’s.

Thank you Dan for the tour of your Hardware/Home store. It is a huge store and the prices are about right. The lighting department had lights in it I had never seen before. The fancy crystal light is a Chandelier. Flooring is ceramic tile, laminate or vinyl. And to see the cacti display with pictures of American Indians was some what interesting. Thanks again for sharing and tell Susie and Sati hi.

Good video. I believe pricing the USA is higher than you showed in the video. My kitchen is much larger, but I paid $32000 for everything including cabinets, appliances and opening up the wall to make a bigger doorway.

your english is very good my friend... i can easily understand everything you say. US english is probably the hardest language on the planet being we have several different words with the same meaning other than the dialect and micro meaning... every word we have has at least 2 others that sound the same and almost say the same thing but are with different context. with that said you're ability to learn US english thru old movies is fantastic and like i said i understand you completely. oh and to show all language is connected ( EXCEPT SOME ISLANDS ) we call molotkea a mallet and several other different words based on size and weight... the phonics are still representative of ancient latin and greek because Latin is a highly inflected language with seven noun cases, five declensions ( In linguistics declension is the changing of the form of a word specifically to express its syntacticus (New Latin syntacticus, from Greek syntaktikos arranging together, from syntassein ) function in the sentence of some inflection ( basically the syntax in your conversation ) , four verb conjugations, six tenses, three persons, three moods, two voices, two aspects, and two numbers. The Latin alphabet is directly derived from the Etruscan and Greek alphabets which in turn was adopted by the roman empire and expressed in the different dialects of the regions it was predominate ( hence the different languages very similar in spelling and pronunciation.

I was an electrician helper for almost one year way back in the early 2000s. So I know where you are coming from Dan in expressing your fondeness for the electrical side of home improvement and most of your prices are for the most part the same here in America . The differences I noticed by what you mentioned is the backyard grills and the water heaters in general are more expensive than here in America. I always enjoy going to any home improvement store and seeing all the different types of design's of things as it gives me different landscaping and woodworking ideas.

the wood you were showing us is called in English, "Plywood" they are sold in 4 foot by 8 foot sheets and is used for flooring and other uses... I worked in this industry for 10 years and was a manager of the electrical department... Its amazing to see the Russia is just as modern as the rest of the world in this area... the prices are about even with what we pay here for the same items... things are so expensive! even in Russia!

No worries my friend. I have been watching your you tube channel for quite a while, usually on my cell phone so I don't comment at all until I watch your channel on my computer. I have to say, your English is fantastic considering how you've learned the language. And your tour thru this "building center" is very interesting to me. Thank you so much for the tour. It all looks very much like the one's we have in the USA, "HomeDepot", Menards, Lowes are the one's I shop at most of the time. And most of the prices you're showing are very much like the ones in the USA. You have so many more choices in your bathroom displays.
