Its been about 3yrs since I've last had PTY. Love it and I'd love to have some more, but like you said I'm not too bummed that I struck out again this year. They should have bottled more. Can't wait to go to Russian River again when Covid is over. Maybe 2022 for the next PTY release.

Great review as always! My brother and I managed to get the younger this year w/mixed case.. (his keyboard prowess, not mine!) Looking forward to trying it but I'm holding off till my daughter comes up from SD next week! I live a mile or so from RR.. lot of very bummed people up here who didn't get so lucky.

Totally agree with you Joe, I definitely think the fomo is really and the hype, but its still an awsome beer. I guess the limited release marketing is still relevant people want to get things that are hard to get. Makes it special. Mabe you should of done a battle beers with the younger and el sequndo power plant. I think that would be an interesting match up. Who wins???

Been a subscriber for years, love your reviews. Just some constructive feedback I hope you find helpful, but if you were able to lower the volume on the intro/outro a bit that would be awesome. Or increase the volume of your reviews so it matches the intro/outro volume maybe?

I first heard of and tried Pliny for the first time this summer, totally fell in love, and had enough cases sent in of President to drink it almost exclusively thru the election. Was excited to complete my Pliny Journey in record time but alas...

Its sweeter, and nowhere near as drinkable IMO. Its fucking awesome, but I'd take Elder over Younger just because of the ABV, sweetness, and drinkability. If we're being honest, I'd take Pig over both. Cheers!

I agree 100% about Slice WC IIIPA’s being the best. I also think Power Plant is on par with PTY. Even if PTY is a little better than Power Plant, the fact that I can still get a 4 pack of Power for $17.99 right now is awesome. PYT is amazing but I’d never, ever pay secondary for it. I’m hoping the world is back to normal next year so I can go to the PTY release. Let’s road trip it, Joe! We can take a detour to Lincoln on the way back and visit their trash brewery.

A week, it'll probably be older than that. It's in the bottle for longer before it gets sold. Should you ever find Duvel Triple hop citra, that's in the bottle 3 months before it gest sold and sometimes it still tastes too green when you get it then. Kimmich likes his beer at 1 year old and I tried it, focal at 1 year is still perfect. Other half needs -at least- 3 weeks in the can before you can even drink it, same with Monkish.

I really enjoy Monk beers super fresh, but Im a weirdo how likes that green hop matter thing. PtY is fantastic, so I don't want to make it sound like the beer wasn't great. I think the fallout from a lot of online folks after the release left a bad taste in my mouth so it may have come off in the video.

Have to be honest. I feel like the 2021 version isn't as interesting as others I've tried (18,19,20). It's fine. It's just not explosive with bright citrus flavors like the previous years were. But this is also the first time I'm having it out of a bottle vs on tap, so I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

Im not too sure what this would be like in a month or so. Its plenty hoppy, but it was also sweeter than I remember (especially as it warmed after I was done with the video) so I don't know if it would just continue to get sweeter?

I'm sure a lot of other TIPAs are as good, even better, but I'll never get how Power Plant gets brought up in Younger comparisons. I just do not like that one at all.

Readily available is great, but I just don't think it's fantastic. I'd say it's about average for a TIPA, and I dislike most TIPAs, so just not a fan.

@@jsenigaglia Younger is really the only one I love. The last one that almost blew me away like it does is Nelson, She Wrote, from Noble, but my second time having it I realized I couldn't crush more than one can easily, which was a big difference, because I've had no problem taking down a bunch of Younger, and wanting more (although the last couple times it's definitely ruined me). I've had a fresh Knee Deep Simtra that was great, but also not close to the "Younger killer" the bottleshop owner assured me it was. I'm sure there's been one or two others that I've actually liked, but other than that, I don't think I'd go back for any other TIPA I've ever had (especially Power Plant). Younger definitely varies a bunch too, and isn't always great. The 2018 batch (last time I had it at the brewery) was way below any other batch I've had, and if that was my only encounter with it, I'd definitely assume that there are plenty of just as good and better WC TIPAs out there. I do really want to try the Slice ones. Going there next week, actually, but I think I'm probably a few weeks too late.

Going to get shit for this but Pliny The Elder and Pliny The Younger are in my opinion, burnt. I can name countless beers that will destroy those. I live in SoCal and its always available near me. This beer is like Heady Topper...nothing special at all and I've had Heady Topper a good amount of times. After a while, it's meh! Anyways, nice review. Salud! 🍻

Pliny the Elder is hands down the best WCIPA. I have had heady before and it was overrated. And I’m sure there large amount of good beers available to you that’s fresher and better then Russian River beers but for Russian river to distro these state wide and it still being very good means that Russian river is at the top of there game. Also SoCal had a big variety of breweries all within in a hour of each other

I truly don't think you understand the significance of Heady Topper; it's a very special beer. It sounds like you just prefer juicy IPAs that are low IBU, which is fine, but don't expect traditionalists to pay you any mind.
