I never understood the accessory lifts concept. You get stronger by specificity and progression. I don't have time for all the other bs lifts. Maybe it's me.
@AerinQQ
@AerinQQ 4 жыл бұрын
@@toribrown7578 If you are a beginner, you should MOSTLY focus on the comp. lifts only that are the most specific, because its crucial to develop a good technique. But as you progress throughout the years and you get into the intermediate/advance phase, doing nothing but comp lifts will get you plateau very quickly. If you do the same thing over and over, the body will get into homeostasis (basically a plateau). If you want to advance further, you have to disrupt it. There are many ways how to do it, like manipulating sets/reps/frequency/adjusting overall volume etc. and variations and accessory lifts represent a powerful tool for disrupting the homeostasis as well and you can target with them the weakest points of the lift (like pause squats, pause deadlifts, pin presses etc. depending where the weakness is.

Soviets had really well put together training, since then Russians have kept and modified on that research. Look up general physical preparedness a soviet concept and a workout rountine, it's the idea you need basic strengths. Soviets at young ages were educated this way (as well as other soviet era 'sport science') and eastern Europeans have retained this knowledge and expanded on it. They dominate certain sports because of this, the west is only just catching up this these core concepts.

I guess the heavier we go...injuries are invitible. As we force our bodies to lift beyond a certain point? Or are those injuries (amateur or elite athlete) mistakes?? Is it possible to life 2x, 3x or 4x your bodyweight 100% injury free? Has any one done that at the elite level? Average person/athlete I guess can't do more than 2x their BW...possibly approaching 3x...just a handful being able to do 4x+...

@@strengtheats6399 Yes, it's incorrect. He's obviously a legend among lifters, but being a great doer doesn't make you a great teacher. Adductors connect to he pelvis, not above the hip capsule as depicted in this image he drew. This hugely important when determining function.

Seems like this video is mistranslated. After further research, I believe Yury meant weak abductors rather than adductors, or else that diagram would make no sense, seeing as how the adductors attach to the groin rather than the low back region, and an externally rotated squat stance would train the abductors more while an internally rotated, knees forward stance would train the adductors. Pretty egregious mistake on their part.

It's simple, a combination of massive amounts of drugs, very high training volume and great genetics, just like any strength athlete, there are no mysteries here. While he was competing in IPF, where less drugs are used, and you need to flush earlier, he pulled around 350 kg. Also, lifting with deadlift bars is a joke, since it makes the pull more of a block pull.
