@@KRANTZ2009The problem is that Putin is literally destroying russian people, russian economy and russian minds (through propaganda). I feel sad because Russia has always been seen as a land of culture from France, especially since do many White Russians (who were generally educated aristocrats) settled in France after 1918. One of our generals is actually a descendant of these White Russians, Général Yakovleff.

As a French I have to say I am not really surprised. The comments are interesting and I believe that Europeans (not just the French) are closer to Russians than we are close with Anglo-Saxons on many levels. Of course, there are also major differences. I am surprised none of them mentioned cheese, which is one of the many reasons some of my friends who were living in Moscow 10 years ago are now in Paris :) I am even more surprised that the "general good feeling" Russians had towards French (what I felt from my visit in 2013) has not changed with the current invasion of Ukraine. What did I see in this video ? Smart, educated people that I would love to know better. But I've met too many interesting Russians so I may be biased. I pray for the end of the war in Ukraine as I have friends in both countries.

How can you say that we are closer to Russia than to anglo-saxons ? Paris and London are very similar cities, more similars than Moscow. When I'm in England I can ses that the society is quitte similar. Some french above all from the extreme right would prefer that France be more like the more conservative russian society. And they like to think that any cultural and social progressive evolution comes from England or the Usa. In fact, they dont want that France change. I dont know if they are rallye in love with Russia. When Russia was communist the same persons were strongly opposed to Ussr. Now they are in love with Russia. Strange isn't it ? I think that Russia is a great country but I prefer liberal societies to conservative ones. And some of my leftwing russian friend are no longer in Russia now and I dont think I will go to Russia without them. I will wait before discovering Saint-Petersbourg.

To clarify a few points, not all French people are unpleasant and rude. Fortunately, this type of behavior is mainly to be found in Paris, due to the stressful pace of life there. As soon as you visit the other regions of France, you'll find much more friendly people. If you ever come to visit France, don't forget to go beyond Paris. France isn't as big as Russia, but it's still very diverse. Visit Provence, Brittany, Auvergne, Alsace... Each region has its own history, gastronomy, climate and geography.

They all know you end up like Belarus with a Russian puppet like Lukashenko. How did that work out for Putin by the way with Finland and Sweden? You do know all the NATO border countries ordered the new PrSM missiles and HIMAR systems. PrSM missiles are high precision and can reach 500 KM. They can also evade air defences. They can reach Moscow. Poland even ordered 506 HIMAR systems. NATO also are going to expand their already 300.000 NATO Reaction Force(NRF) at the border of Russia and Belarus. NATO countries are now all gonna spend 2.0% GDP on their armies. Germany for instance is gonna have a 80 billion dollar army. Russia spends the same right now. Putin just made a unstoppable European army. Every day this war goes on Russia losses money, soldiers and weaponry while Europe builds up their armies with the newest technology. We give F16s away and buy F35s. Why would we be interested in peace? Russia never should've crossed the border with their army. As our history shows, we’re torn between many opposite concepts: - the free will for nations to decide what their own future should be (helping the US to get their independance) - while at the same time colonizing overseas lands for their ressources - freedom as an individual is everything - but we’ve also enslaved and be the main nation in the slaves trade with the US - we love our american friends, who went to save us twice - but we also love our russian friends, with whom we had excellent relations in the past. The thing I regret is that politics in both the US and Russia consider Europe, and specially France, as being their vassal, their toy. I think that indeed we’ve done 2 big mistakes: - signing the Maastricht treaty - join again OTAN after De Gaulle made everything to set up our true independance by firing the GI’s We’ve shown that we could care about people by intervening in many countries that asked us for, but each time the US or Russia’s politicians have shown only interests in using us: - stealing our tech, killing our industry, specially civil nuclear plants one, Airbus, and so on: the US - stealing our rights to have true free elections because our geostrategic position is a key: Russia We love each others as individuals, we love each others culture, cuisine (well… not the murican one though hahaha), music, cinema, we are way smarter than our politicians that do not deserve us, we the peopleS. Thanks for your awesome work, I’m 50 by the way and don’t vote anymore since decades. We knew with my father since the early 90’s that everything was fucked up. Love from France, Russia.

And we value culture, food and art a lot too because we inherently consider living well as a whole. Hi Daniil, interesting video ! I have two suggestions of questions : - Recently, many french politicians like former presidents or ministers expressed not so bad opinions about Russia; it was broadcasted in all french media without blocage. Even if the government has its own line, not everybody thinks the same and no one is going to jail. So my question : how russians can say that every country makes propaganda ? - about russophobia in France : in fact, French people don’t really have russophobia but don’t care much about russian culture. Indeed, before the SMO there was no soft power from russia to showcase apolitical, cultural aspects of the coutry. Language Barrier is not an explanation since other coutries do so : Japan with anime manga, USA with pop culture and music… in these three countries the citizens generally only understand their own language, but even so there is a spread of culture (and à lot of people know about french culture too). So my second question : why did Russia(ns) not share their culture so much to try to make bonds / have a good influence in apolitical ways? Keep it up with the good work ! From a french viewer

France had a huge influence on imperial Russia : Versailles architecture in St Petersburg, speaking french at the palace, etc... Then the two countries grew apart but Russians and French are still similar in being passionate people who love arts. France was one of the most russophile countries until this war. Fun fact 1, the gril taking Hemingway's opinion on the French. Fun fact 2, the long lived stereotypes.

To me as a French citizen it was an uplifting video and a proof that Russian citizen are interested in our way of life , our culture which unfortunately has changed a lot in the last decades due to the americanization of the society ... Those young people seemed to be informed about our political mindset and understand that French people are free to express their opinion in politics and feel free to go on the street and fight for their rights if necessary , which is not possible in their country . In France most people have also a great idea of the russian culture and are extremely worried about the polical decisions of their leaders !!!

In Russia, you can express your opinion on the street and even protest, as long as you don't call for the overthrow of the government by force (and it has recently been forbidden to protest against the war). In Russia, there is a systemic opposition that has regularly held rallies in recent years and scolded the authorities and the course that the authorities chose, especially during the COVID-19. But this is only possible if it is a systemic opposition, if we are talking about a pro-Western opposition that is nurtured and sponsored from Europe to eliminate the regime in Russia, then such rallies are prohibited, you can be detained and released just like that, and they can also be detained and fined in in some rare cases, if you resisted the police at the protests, they can put you in jail. I hope my message will help you better understand the situation about freedom of speech in Russia. By the way, in Russia there are often strikes that relate to various reforms or various high-profile incidents.

Russia might be the #1 country I'd like to visit. The current political climate saddens me because I always believed that cultural exchanges and curiosity between our two nations could lead to some great things. Historically and culturally, Russia is a great country, worth of interest. About that, I am always fascinated when I see that old french revolutionary songs, like the Carmagnole for instance, have been used in the context of the russian revolution.

In France, revolution is still in the air. They are convinced their wine and cheese are unbeatable. They don´t like the police at all, particularly the CRS (riot police). Although French people have similar attributes, there are still regional differences like north, south, east and west, plus Brittany and the Basque country. There is also a class system despite their claim to égalité. I personally like the French (on the whole) and their language.
