Hi Mike, I really loved this video for so many reasons. I make the same mistake with the keyless all the time-forgetting the order of things and having to redo the work. It’s always good for a laugh. But the part about remembering our loved ones-I hope it is comforting knowing your parents are with our Lord and continue to be proud of all your accomplishments. Deeply personal items like watches are among the only things left behind by our loved ones that we can continue to connect with on a daily basis. Good on you for getting this running again, and I bet the owner is thrilled with the job you’ve done. Wishing you the best, Chris

Very sorry to hear about your parents passing Michael. My condolences to you, and your whole family. My father passed a few years back, and while I still have my mom, the loss of a parent is absolutely devastating, and especially to lose both your parents in such a short time span 😢. Your tribute to them was heartwarming, and a great reminder to treasure the time we have with our loved ones. As far as the restoration goes -- another top notch job 👍 That stuck winding stem looked like quite the nightmare though! 😆
@MyRetroWatches6 ай бұрын
Thanks for your kind words. The stem was a total nightmare and it was only brute force in the end that freed it.
@brian62906 ай бұрын
A very apt tribute video, to feature your colleague's father's watch. It's not too ostentatious for a gold-plated dress watch, something that he could and presumably did wear all the time. It's fortunate that whatever the water ingress into the stem was, it didn't get any further.

Mike, that's a dustproof crown. Keep it. Your parents had to be fantastic people as you are a great result of them. Collet on balance spring is chamfered on bottom to put hand levers or such underneath. For any future ones you need to move...

@MyRetroWatches6 ай бұрын
Thanks David. I was blessed with 51 years with them and envious of my older brothers 60 years! for them to go so quickly and close time wise was a shocker but it was relatively quick. All I would say is make time to see yours, return the missed calls etc. get them to tell you their history, people in photos etc. My father wrote his biography right up to leaving the RAF and then it stops! he never wrote about any of us. I always said I would film my parents and do an interview with them given their poor start in life sadly never got around to it and it would have been nice to preserve that history in video format for future generations.

Great save there Mike. The watch looks fantastic. And yes, sometimes we call them a win even though they don't run perfect. Btw, I think the caseback was not seated properly. May have been the angle of the shot when you rotated it though. Always great to watch your vids. That got me into watching videos on Seiko's and I came across your channel and now I'm addicted, I've binged watched hours and hours.
