I’ve got the same manual Fit with 119K miles on the original clutch. I bought it brand new and baby the clutch. Heel toe downshifts and neutral at the red lights. Dealer changed a squeaky pilot bearing under warranty at around 30k miles, but the service slip didn’t show a clutch was put in, so I think it’s still original. I know my time is coming and I’m considering tackling it myself, so this video was very helpful. Glad to have found your channel. I’ll be watching more of your good work. Thank you!

Anti-sieze changes torque values, and if a mechanic uses it all the time, it would smear onto everything he owns. It has it's benefits, but I use it sparingly.

For some reason your videos dropped off my personal KZbin horizon, but I remembered the 'Yo!" and found you again. This is an excellent walk through of a manual clutch repair, brilliant lighting. Even in experienced hands, I see it can be frustrating, moreso if you don't own a lift. I love these old manual transmission cars.

DAMN, That was a GREAT Vid. on doing that Clutch, VERY DETAILED. I almost pissed myself when you showed the bread a second time WITH A BITE TAKEN OUT OF IT, LMAO. I've only ever changed 1 Clutch in a Front Wheel Drive Vehicle, It was my 1989 Chevy Beretta GT 5 Speed. NEVER AGAIN, had a hell of a time getting the Trans. to align up after installing new clutch, like you did. Took me hours but I was working off Jack Stands laying on my back with the Trans on my chest. Also had a hell of a time bleeding the new Slave Cylinder, had to bleed it for a week after driving it.

I have an 08 fit, I'm waiting on my clutch and parts from rockauto. RWD is Soo much easier to get trans out even tho they're heavier. All my vehicles are manual😂. Camaro RS, Honda fit, Nissan Sentra, Harley Davidson. All I need is a big manual diesel truck😂. Mine was stuck on the alignment dowels. Kept pushing and pulling and trying to pry. Sprayed with penetrant multiple times during. It eventually came apart

Two questions. Why not use urea grease to grease the the splines on the clutch? Isnt it bad to mix urea grease with any lithium base grease or non polyurea .Also why not leave the alignment tool in when tightening?
@RustBeltAuto
@RustBeltAuto Жыл бұрын
Spline lubricant is not a grease per say. It is more like a disc brake quiet. It dries out. Some manufacturers dont use anything on splines, and it is not designed to stay lubricated. It works for enitial brake in, and then it is gone. You can leave the tool in there, but it does not align the clutch like you may believe it does. You need to check the disc to make sure it is centered after the pressure plate is tightened.
