Here is a fix I did on another F-150 that wasn't as bad, but still terrible: • Rusted out, rotted F-1... 0:52 what's the issue?

Ugh I had high hopes of a fix Mines not that bad but it’s time to look for another one or just give up on it 290,000 miles doesn’t skip a beat starts right up ice cold ac 4wd works mint body’s a little beat Brand new 6 inch lift 35s after a year installed the rot got bad This it why I refuse to buy a new vehicle these truck are 100k depending what one and this is the quality we get in return. standard American vehicle hate in the comments. Toyota is gonna put my son through college. Don’t get me wrong fords are and always have been junky trucks. Nowadays everything made by everyone is junk. I can make a huge list of common failure parts on newer Ford trucks…unfortunately the same can be said about every vehicle on every lot and Japanese cars are not immune I’ve done 4 Tacoma frames in 6 months. I live in Florida,….fords don’t rot out here but Toyota Tacoma still find a way.

I just crawled under my 2007 150 XL 4.2 [bought new] and the rust looks extensive but not terrible. I live in Southern Minnesota [salt] and love this truck and it makes me sad the foundation of this truck was so poorly designed. It's not an engineering problem it's a brain problem, something we were once good at. I love the design and style of this truck and want to keep it alive. But, is it worth it? Can the frame be treated now to secure the trucks foundation? Thanks and Peace 🕊

kzbin.info/www/bejne/fqS0YmOKlNKSf5osi=Fk6AnMgbHbsdGZuk Spraying it with a rust inhibitor will slow down the process but that will not strengthen it or fix what has already rotted away. Even the frame repair shown above is not going to make it as good as a new frame, or one that has not rusted in the first place. It's a losing battle unfortunately.

I just bought an 05 with issues in the same spots, drivers side has a hole (fist and a half size), passenger side is cracked. I bought the truck for $900. I really need it to last for a bit for a back up... can i repair that spot by lifting it slightly (to straighten it out) and then welding some 1/4" steel patches on?
@bennieaust2 ай бұрын
You can certainly try. the problem that I run into on these is that it’s hard to find a good spot to weld to when the frames start to get rusty and usually they look a lot better than they are once you get into it you’ll see that stuff pretty rotted out. Without having seen yours personally, I can’t say for sure. Hopefully it’s not as bad as a lot of them.

Typical AMERICAN made vehicle. Ford manufacturing should have to reimburse ALL buyers!

I wish that was it. Toyota has had a LOT of frame rot issues as well. :(

The manufacture should have to do this repair at NO cost to the owner! Typical AMERICAN made product.

I think they should do something about it as well. It's not just the American made products. Toyota is having massive frame rust issues as well. :(

No , just take care of it from new , woolwax , fluid film etc . Salt can't rust what it can't get to .

Actually the manufacturer with the worst frame rot issues is Toyota, but I'm sure you already knew that.

Had the same problem on my 07. Ended up using a 2014 rear frame and spliced it at the factory seam. Used Dorman frame caps on the front half and it’s held up well over 8 months now.

my 2008 F-150 2WD is finally going the Neil Young way ;), (Rust Never Sleeps), on both frame rails, (between the rear axle and cab), just where the frame rails begin too curve up towards the rear. DeLorean was right, we should've gone *_stainless-steel_* decades ago. !

@bennieaust Жыл бұрын
That’s great of it’s not rusty. There is a very good chance someone undercoated it or something. If so, there is also a good chance it’s not as rust free as it looks.

Put some plates on it but dont weld them on the vertical seams as thats where itll crack down the road if it does as the welds will break
