To be truly honest I found that in the beginning the giggling annoyed me also! Then I thought about it and realised I was projecting outwardly what I was feeling internally, I was not in a happy place so I projected that. I am so happy to learn about this style. I have naturally sort have gone this route and thought I was crazy with the two opposite styles. I crave the sleek richness of marbles and leather with blacks and grays but Love chunky heavy gorgeous woods with the warm browns. I now have a name for this style I have! *YES* . I love this look. I transitioned into a very earthy color palette, browns, dark olive, touches of black. Velvet and micro-suede with a leather and boucle are yummy. Growing up in the Adirondack's of NYS, "cabin vibes" were buffalo check, black bear and deer. This style is so much better.

I'm with you! Doesn't this style seem just "normal" Danish house? It has always struck me a little odd how the American interpretation of Danish design seems to be all modern, but my favorite Danish homes are just like this: earthy, open, warm, and a mix of old and new/modern and not. Some of the classic Danish hotels are great examples of this.

This video really inspired me. I live in the desert and wasn't sure I could pull off a rustic luxury/scandi kind of look but...I took inspiration from your video and refreshed my great room - and I LOVE IT. I changed the pillow covers to neutral tones with various rustic luxury textures (thank you to your Amazon storefront) and swapped out a contemporary multi-color rug with a luxurious cream and beige shag in a geometric pattern. The result is a cool, calm, fresh look that is timeless and will look as cool and collected in the warm/hot months and is cozy and inviting in our mild but cooler weather now. I couldn't be happier! Thanks for the inspiration and ideas to transform my room into a fresh look I love.

So happy to see you address this. I thought i was the only one who was doing this blend. I did not realize it was a movement! 😄😄 Nothing shiny except marble and light fixtures. Stained wood is in satin finish. Floor is white tile with smudged gray/taupe that looks dirty already!! Everything else is very organic and muted. I love the coziness while flipping on glam chandelier lighting. Only question i have and welcome input from everyone...what stain color for Hickory kitchen cabinets? White Marble countertops with light gray swirls.

Reading recently about the Colonial Revival style (last seen as Modern Farmhouse, and before that just Farmhouse- or Colonial in the 1980s), I had a light bulb moment. We’ve been modernizing Colonial style over and over. Elevating it, repurposing it, marking it, making it our own. Do the research- super cool. And you do this black, chic, practical and luxe version of Colonial style very, very well. Brava!

Oh my word! This has been my style for years and I have never been able to put my finger on it! Literally identical. I have that studio McGee bookend, hence why I know where it is from, also the textured case that’s white on your last area. Along with the new vase with spots both from target! Ahh!! I have those iron candle rods on your table, I’m almost positive they are exact from hobby lobby! You are my identical and now I am empowered to paint as I have never been able to push to choose a new color and have dealt with the paint and floors from when I purchased my home 6 years ago! Ahhh! I am passionate about mid-mod mixed with rustic and a teeny bit of Texas cowboy (being a Texan decorating with cowboy rustic goes WITHOUT saying!). I am also an abstract artist (encaustic painting, alternative photo printmaking-which is very modern, marbled & handmade paper but also a weaving textile artist-prior life I wove horse show saddle pads) so adding in all these textures, rustic colors, mixed with mid-mod furniture & lighting - yum!
