Another amazing cat in the Himalayas that is also rarely seen is the snow leopard. They live in the mountains of South and Central Asia, and only around 3,000 individuals are left in the wild. It is challenging to film at an altitude of 5,000m, so snow leopards are rarely caught on camera. But our camera crew in the Himalayas did just that. Their footage of a snow leopard mom and her two cubs gives unique insights into these mysterious animals' lives. Having such an insider look and learning more about this gorgeous species is amazing.

There is/was a species of small cat endemic to the island I live on in the Caribbean (Sint Maarten) that has gone extinct. I don't think it went extinct, though. I think it just bred into the local cat population, because every now and again you'll see a cat very similar to the ones in this video. They don't meow at all, they hiss and spit and are very aggressive
@beezelsub Жыл бұрын
Name?
@realtalk6195 Жыл бұрын
If it bred into the local population entirely, then it's extinct. Compare with the Scottish wildcat who is also endangered and is expected to go extinct, but it has heavily intermingled with domestic cats too. The hybrids aren't considered Scottish wildcats.

If they don't want to fight over who is the "Smallest Cat", maybe the Rusty Spotted Cat can go for the title "Least Cat"? Mathematically, there is the least cat in a Rusty Spotted Cat of any cat, and it has precedent in things like the Least Weasel, haha

I'm kind of surprised farmers would go after them if they are known for hunting rodents. Seems like a free form of pest control as long as they keep an eye on their chickens.
@AppalachianLady Жыл бұрын
If the farmers don't have easy access to fencing, they might just decide to kill every predator in the area. In America ,where I live fencing wire is relatively inexpensive and easy to get; so we're able to build enclosures to keep small predators out and thus live side-by-side happily.
@theendlessdaydream6442 Жыл бұрын
@@AppalachianLadyNot going to argue with the price of materials but I've seen chicken coops on wheels made out of scrap parts. Even without, a rooster could probably hold its own and guard against a lone one. It'd be different if the cats were large enough to kill livestalk but these things are smaller than a house cat.
