@@shellymoorman Within a few weeks of the beginning of my Freshman year in college as a piano major (1977), I attended a wonderful two day master class by Ruth Slenczynska which changed my life. After playing the trumpet from 6th grade on, I discovered the piano when I was 16 and have not looked back. Ms. Slenczynska spoke to us about her experience in life, how to practice and prepare for performance, lessons with Rachmaninoff and Hoffmann, and others. Although I make my living outside of music in business, the piano is the most important part of my life other than my family, and I owe much of that spark to Ms. Slenczynska for the inspiration she gave me with her words, and a recital that still shines in my heart as one of the very best performances by any artist that I have witnessed. Thank you Ruth for your art and sharing that art with others. You have made a profound difference in the lives of many.

I never met Ruth Slenczynska but I went to school (UMKC) with Shelley Moorman Stahlman. I've become fascinated with this wonderful pianist. I especially loved her video about her studies with Josef Hoffman and other Curtis teachers and alumnists. I studied with Abbey Simon who she mentioned. I wish I could still speak to him about his associations with Mme. Slenczynska.

I love Beethoven's sonata in C major, reason : I play mostly in C. Easy??? Till I knew what Chopin teaches : starting with black keys, (because the design of keyboard，black keys are natural for the human hands to reach). This fact I heard from a piano saleswoman who was also a concert pianist 40years ago " music in C is hardest to play ! "
