I'm excited to visit with you and your family again. Even though I'm a 65 yr old lady raised in the back woods of WV, I learn something new with every video. We pretty much lived off the land and worked as a family. I raised my children that way also. You have tricks to share that I was never taught. You and your family are a blessing.

I take so much joy in seeing how much nourishing your husband and children brings you joy. The way you smile when you talk about keeping those boys fed and fed well… you can tell it’s a difficult task that challenges you but you take such responsibility in making sure it’s done. I find an attitude like that to be so refreshing as a mother. Motherhood is a challenge, but one we are capable of with the Lord’s grace and strength!

Ruth Ann, I love watching your videos. I have almost binge watched as I work around my house this summer. Your lifestyle with homesteading reminds me so much of my childhood. My grandma had milk cows and chickens. She had a large garden where we spent much of our time picking, canning, and preserving. My dad, therefore, had a huge garden and eventually bought some acreage with pigs and chickens. We spent much time growing and preserving. I absolutely love yardwork and gardening and preserve some, but not near what I used to. I have learned so much from you. Thanks for sharing.

That's a genius treat! Your garden looks gorgeous. I know some people are complaining about the heat, but we too have had a mild summer in North Carolina, mostly in the mid to upper 80's (sometime 90's, which is typical), with overnight lows in the upper 60's! That's CHILLY (we're normally in the 70's overnight).

Watching these boys and calf training just fills my heart with much joy and giggles. Doing chores is such a great way for the boys to develop their responsibilities. Ruthann, having halter trained a lot of calves from the time I was about the size of your boys, I can safely tell you that if you get the rope halters like the ones your using, but with a little metal piece to slide the rope in, they’ll halter train faster and better and they’ll lawn dart your kids less. They’re called “breaking halters” and they’re like $8 at tractor supply. Basically as soon as the calf quits pulling it releases pressure where the plain rope ones can’t so it’s an instant reward to the calf. I wish they’d had them when I was that size because I’d have had a lot fewer skinned knees and a lot less rope burn 😅😅

I am so glad I watched this video. I stay in South Africa and we do not have graham crackers. I have always wondered what they look like. We have the equivalent of digestive biscuits over here. So many recipes call for graham crackers and I have always wondered.
@Nix-theMiracle Жыл бұрын
Howzit! I’m a South African, now living in Toronto. There really isn’t a South African equivalent that tastes the same but a digestive has a similar consistency. I think they originally used wheat germ and/or molasses but who knows today! I wish I could send you a box but I know that the postal service is completely broken in SA now. God bless you 🇿🇦

I remember the small town in southeast Iowa where I grew up with my grandma’s garden, going to get cream from a widow just outside of town with 12 dairy cows she milked twice a day, walking beans, detassling corn, baling hay. We would run cattle for the auction house in town with our horses and help farmers move herds of cattle or hogs through town from one pasture or field to another to graze. I truly embrace watching you and your family because this is what I grew up with. Up early, late to bed, preserving food, and taking care of the home and family.😊

looks so yummy- calves are so much fun. I always had a hard time getting them off the bottle and onto feed- we start ours on buckets right away, makes it easier to switch them to feed when they can digest solids. Just hold fingers in the milk and get them to suck, split fingers so milk flows in their mouth... in a couple days dont need to use hands to tempt them anymore...
