People in the comments seem to forget that Ruud no longer needs these points to enter the ATP finals. It's no surprise that De Miñaur and Rublev retired from their torunaments as soon as Djokovic announced his withdrawal. No need for Ruud to use his energy in an ATP 250 the week before the finals.

Look, the fact still is that Ruud qualified for the ATP finals, it doesn't matter where and when he gained those points. Despite his record the last weeks on hardcourt, he still made it beyond the round Robin stage in his previous appearances and even reached the final. So it's not that the doesn't know how to win on hardcourt. The other players have just as much opportunity to win the amount of points needed to qualify, and they didn't, so that's not Casper's fault.

Lmao Ruud, give the spot to Dimitrov or something. Ruud has lost 8 of 10 matches since the USO. He will likely lose his 3 RR matches too. He tanks up points during the clay swing without winning those big titles, goes deep at 250's and RG and he pretty much seals the spot. It's so lame seeing him lose 1st rounds and STILL goes up in ranking. He's been camping the #7-8-9 spot this year with results like a top 50 player. Give him some slack cuz he's multiple RG finalist? Nah, he must improve is he wants to remain top 10 in 2025. Pretty much anyone in the current top 20 can beat him on hardcourts and even on clay, Ruud is more a top 30 player and a top 10 player on his very best day.
