The set that people would be more familiar with. Before 2020, anyone was able to use these lifts to go down to Basement 1: the Taste on Willis foodcourt. Now, following that space's transformation into Willis Lane, those lifts now open into the Archie Brothers arcade space and are no longer public on that floor (I don't actually know if it still serves it or if they're permanently blocked up there now). Regardless, Cooper and I decided to go further down in them - down to the carpark on Basement 3! It does puzzle me that a building with 3 basements only has one carpark level… but it's still cool nonetheless.
Down in the carpark, we decided to just explore for a bit, and ended up stumbling upon an extra service elevator! Currently an OTIS Gen2-ReGen, but through deduction, I figured this must be the former Lexan service elevator that NZ Lifts filmed that only went between B1 and B3. Clearly they replaced it following the Willis Lane refurbishments, and I cannot find exactly where it is on B1 at present. As well as this, we also found where the service lifts opened up to on B3; only the two opposing service lifts were visible, which indicates that the third one at the other end of the corridor (which has NEVER been filmed or seen active, by the way) either doesn't serve it, or opens in a completely different area. Nevertheless, it was actually pretty cool to just explore down there!
Going back to the main elevators, they're basically the same as the high-rise ones, except we were only able to go between the ground floor and the bottom two basement floors. This is where Cooper pointed out that the cab walls had pictures of the building mid-construction on it (the same was true with the high-rise lifts too), which is undeniably a nice touch 😆 Due to the lockouts, we were able to get the “Please present security credential” voice message multiple times on ♿ mode. It's great, but I can well imagine it spooking someone if they were alone in a quiet space 😅 Filmed with @elevatorsinnz.
