Thanks for all the work you guys put into this, it's been a great help to me in getting my Max Steel 18x25 carport properly secured. We moved out of Cape Canaveral 17 years ago because of the hurricanes and wound up in Chattanooga. Now we have to be wary of tornadoes...

Ohh I wouldn't wanna deal with tornadoes just like I don't wanna have to do with hurricanes but yet here we are in Central Florida where they always seem to pass over us, i'll tell you what though the setup t.... had been through three hurricanes and it's still standing strong not a bend in it, good luck to you guys and thank you very much for the compliment and for commenting hope you have a great day

I recommend doubling the cable clamp an tuck the loose end into one to prevent the cable slipping

Better way: post hole diggers and dig a hole on the inside of all 4 corners. Put a 8ft 2 .25" or 2.5" square tube in the hole, right up against the existing tubing and fill with concrete. Then use some 4" steel plate 1/16" or so thick. And strap the square tubing together. You can also use thick round tubing with something like axle bolts and tie the two together. The key is lots of concrete and strapping the pole to the carport (the inside on yours is the best option).

I've often wondered how sturdy those are. You're right! Big expense. Definitely not something you want just blowing away in the wind. It's really nice. I like that it goes all the way down the sides. Keep the sides nice and protected. Very nice!

You got that right they are not cheap, I've seen too many of our friends lose theirs not just from hurricanes but just normal summer storm rain winds, so far it has held up to 2 hurricanes and many summer storms, I hope you guys are doing well and we thank you for watching and commenting

Have you thought about adding turn buckles to at least the 4 corner cables ? Easily tighten them then.
@RVFieldTrip
@RVFieldTrip Жыл бұрын
Yes I have after the fact bmoore3199, but the U-Bolt clip has been working very well, I believe when we have to replace U-bolt clip we will replace it with the turn buckles just to make life a little easier, thank you for the question you're the first person that caught that so far, and I wish I thought of it when I was installing it
@GunninWizard

I was told it’s best not to have the sides. Because less for the wind to catch. Just the roof panels only then the wind just blows through it with nothing for the wind to catch.

Thank you but it came out of necessity considering we've had 5 scratch that make it 6 hurricanes go right over our home, and so far knock on wood the last two hurricanes did not damage it whatsoever, but we do appreciate your compliment and thank you very much for commenting hopefully we'll talk to you next time

I am getting ready to build an RV port... I think I am going to do something like this and make the siding quick detachable. That way most of the surface is just gone and all there is to blow on is the roof and frame.. Might even make the roof qd.

You have to do what you can to try to keep your investment, I know mine has lasted through three hurricanes and here recently 4550 gust of wind, and it hasn't moved an inch, good luck and stay safe also I appreciate you commenting

Yes it does, what scares us the most is where would it land and could it hurt someone else four one of our horses, but so far after two hurricanes and several summer thunderstorms with wind it has held up with no problems, happy to see you and thank you very much for commenting

Put in 4 corner concrete hole & metal tubing anchors then add mobile home auger type anchors down the sides (5 or 6 per side). That got me a wind rating well over 100 mph on my 36 foot RV port.
@RVFieldTrip
@RVFieldTrip Жыл бұрын
I have no idea what my wind rating is after putting the anchors down also I know it sure does give us a good Peace of Mind when we have high winds or hurricane passes by, as it probably gives you the same Peace of Mind protecting your investment to the best of our abilities, we appreciate you commenting and very much appreciate you subscribing to the channel, thank you look forward to talking to you in the future

Unfortunately the people we bought our carport from is no longer in business, but I believe it's all a kit that they get from a supplier should all be about the same, good luck and have fun out there

I noticed its a regular style roof on that 40ft. Is it a solid 40ft sheet all the way across the roof or did they have to do 2 pieces and join them in the middle?
@RVFieldTrip

What do you do with your trailer when a hurricane threatens? We suppose we will just drive north - way north or west.
@RVFieldTrip
@RVFieldTrip Жыл бұрын
That's exactly right north or South depending on where it's heading, that was one of the reasons for purchased an RV so we can get away from it, so far where we live here in Central Florida in the last 20 years we've had five hurricanes go right over us, it's just easier with having dogs to get away, hope you guys are well

Funny yet not. Flew in the Navy and everyone said..."Name...put your visor down!" (helo crew, winds crazy). But...the winds and what flew around me w/visor down...always put debrie in my eye's, w/visor down!, With visor up...nothing went into my eyes! I knew the forces where against me (visor down). Visor "up" created a semi-vortex (L&R) around my face that pushed outward, away from my eyes. Hence...??? Good thing! For me... Gentex...Hire me! NASA...your next. Wanna say "DARPA", but evil begets????
