You mentioned the 26 foot Keystone for 2023 in your video. I purchased a 26 foot Komfort 5th wheel new in 2007 and still own it today. I also purchased a Toyota Tundra new the same time. We have traveled to every state west of the Mississippi and we have not had a single problem. The ONLY things we have replaced on this 5th wheel is the tires, brakes and the awning. It has a rear kitchen and one slide. It sits in the Arizona sun uncovered when we’re not using it. It has never had a leak and we have not coated the roof. It is by far the best RV we have ever owned. Because of its size, we can go anywhere we want including US and state campgrounds. We even camped in the Yellowstone park. I installed airbags on my Tundra the 1st month we owned it and it is sweet!
@mrsbigtruckbigtravels726 Жыл бұрын
That's exactly why a short 5th wheel is so great! But I think only with a "regular" truck and not a semi truck like we have - as we weren't saving much on overall length. We were trying to find an RV so we could use the semi and not have to buy another truck. 🤦♀️. Thanks for the comment Tony and your time watching the Channel! 😊
@TonyLiveTV Жыл бұрын
@@mrsbigtruckbigtravels726 I love your truck and the RV you have. I was just commenting on how wonderful a smaller rig can be. We use the outside space and are rarely sitting in the RV so it didn’t make sense for us to go that extreme. The total cost (when we purchased) was about $50,000 so I didn’t have to sell my home to get it. A rig like you have costs a heck of a lot more. My uncle purchased a rig like yours. He sold his house and purchased a Peterbilt truck and a huge 5th wheel. After 4 years of full time living, he had a heart attack and could no longer live the RV lifestyle. Now he lives in a simple mobile home in Florida connected to an oxygen generator. He sold his home that was appreciating only to purchase an expensive RV he had to sell for pennies on the dollar. It’s a sad story. Oh yeah, he had AT&T stock which also became worthless.

LOL Thank you so much, you two. I really did like the large truck camper, the Super C tag axle, that Super Duty overpriced Ford Truck and the Spacecraft 5th wheel. On the Prevost and other luxury Motor Home coaches (Newell, Marathon, Entegra or?) you really had to make appointments for viewing? How snobby is that? I understand they don't want unnecessary traffic tramping through units they have sold or want to sell, but why be there? Was Featherlite Amadas Coach there? We have one of their factories here in good old Suffolk VA! My Dad had told me there was one when I was still living in San Diego. I didn't really know if it was true, why would they be there? But sure enough, I knew for sure when a new coach was cruising down the road for a test run, my first sighting after coming back (had a lake lot @ Davis Lakes Campground) few years after his passing. I said he was right, they are here and just down the road. I don't have enough $$ to go visit there either. ;)

Hey I plan on hauling a 5th wheel with my full size semi similar to what you show. Any advice on the weird 5th wheel clearance issue??? I got tandem drives with a regular 5th wheel. I'm thinking I need longer 5th wheel rails but don't even know where to start on getting them. Amy advice???
@bigtruckbigtravels Жыл бұрын
We used to haul our DRV Houston with our truck when it was singled. We used a Trailer Saver air ride hitch and had it back on the very end of the truck, within 2 feet of the rear. Some 5th wheel pins are placed forward to be almost even with the nose of the front cap such as the DRV. If your hitch is placed between the tandems then you will need an extension. Sidewinder does have a hitch but I wouldn't suggest it. Can you slide your hitch back any?
@MrtrenchTrucker Жыл бұрын
@Big Truck Big Travels I can slide my 5th wheel back slightly and I do have a king pin box with an air ride in it similar to the trailer saver only on the trailer itself. I still have serious clearance issues. I'm thinking I need to re position the 5th wheel entirely to better suit the smaller trailer or make it so I can slide the 5th wheel several feet instead of only about 6 inches.
@bigtruckbigtravels Жыл бұрын
I've seen some people put a hitch on two frame rails that extend past the rear of the truck for clearance. Obviously, the further the trailer is from the truck axles the more it has a propensity to sway.
@bigtruckbigtravels Жыл бұрын
@@MrtrenchTrucker another option is to get a Safety Hitch (?). It's a 5th wheel hitch on a set of wheels that is connected to the truck using a ball hitch.
