Situational Adventures some people are clueless when it comes to buying used-RVs, cars, houses etc. Stuff breaks or just doesn’t fit a person’s life or likes and needs to be replaced. Now if the engine conked out & the problem should’ve been caught when being checked out by the dealership, then go back to the dealer if it’s a big ticket to fix.

Same thing we did with ours guys. We have a 2015 Newmar Baystar and even though ours wasn’t peeling like that we had that same style sofa that was uncomfortable and absolutely worthless!!! Our Recpro doesn’t have that center recliner but has a console instead with the lighted permanent cup holders with USB ports. But it’s comfortable and a breeze to install. Highly recommend it!!
@Five2Go4 жыл бұрын
We were originally looking at the two recliner version with the center console, but we had an 80" space to fill and those topped out around 70" or so I think. This guy fills the space nicely!

We love our Recpro recliner. We purchased it over a year and a half ago. It sat on the honey do list for six months setup after delivery in our family room and used almost daily. It replaced our euro lounger in the motorhome . It has been exposed to extreme heat 115f and above and only 25f for lows and is as soft as the day we purchased. We live in the desert of AZ. We are not full timers but we do travel a lot. Just got back from dropping off our daughter at college in TN and we made stops along the Louisiana and Texas gulf just before the hurricanes hit. We purchased our unit used also and things will go wrong and things need replacing. It’s just part of the journey. Stay well and safe travels Five2go!

Both came new in our 2019 Catalina. We replaced sofa with: RecPro Charles collection, 30" zero wall RV recliner, wall hugger, RV living (slideout) chairs. Cloth Oatmeal. These are nice chairs, easy install, came thru our doorway w/o having to remove door, screen door either. 24.5" opening. So much nicer, made huge difference in space as well.

We're not really convinced it was wear - there is definitely something wrong with the fabric. It may have been how it was cleaned, how long it sat, etc. Regardless, that couch was super uncomfortable. My buddy has the same couch in a 17 Bounder and it is very comfortable. I have a 12 Georgetown with furniture covered with the same material. Our furniture is still in good shape. The problem comes from the animals on it, their claws do damage you don’t see till it’s too late. And kids jumping on them stretch the material. If you just sat on it it lasts! And I see those 2 things already happening to the new couch!
@1D10CRACY2 жыл бұрын
Yup, the cheaper furniture doesn't hold up to much abuse. Good quality furniture will take a beating including animals jumping on it. We have leather furniture and our dog jumps on it daily, two years later it still looks just as good as the day we got them. There was also an issue with some of the leather fabric being produced. For about 3 or 4 years multiple companies were using faulty material that peeled early on. (Most RV Leather is synthetic leather). Your 12 Georgetown wouldn't of had this issue, but the 17 Bounder would of fell into this era, it would just depend on what furniture company Bounder used. Flexsteel was on of the companies affected.

It's not just the REV Group owned product lines that had issues. I read on a Newmar forum about having the same issue. (mostly 2012-214) They were made by Flexsteel™ but the manufacturer picks the fabric. Did the old one have seat belts? Did you bolted it down? I'm pretty sure the one you took out was. They're bolted down so they don't become projectiles in an accident.
@Five2Go4 жыл бұрын
Our front seats are Flexsteel I think but the couch wasn't. It was some kind of custom built piece - there were measurements and cut lines all over the wood that was under the fabric. There are seat belts on the floor under there and the old couch was bolted down. We've got the anchors and will install them if the couch moves next time we drive, but the seat belts are staying down on the floor since we won't be using them.

I really enjoyed your video. I am currently in the same dilemma. I recently purchased a 2011 Tiffen Allegro 36qsa and the furniture looked good. Three months later the upholstery started to shed like a snake slithering out of its skin. What a disaster. When this process starts it progresses at a rapid rate. I contacted Tiffen and they told me the coach was to old to recieve any assistance. They were only helping people that had the issue within 5years. After doing extensive research I found that Rec Pro and Thomas Payne by Lippert are manufactured in China and are upholstered in the same material that failed you on your old sofa. The Tiffen has Flexsteel furniture that is manufactured in the USA. That being said the fabric they used had the same failure rate. The frames that Flexsteel used are superior in quality so we are going to keep the existing furniture and have it recovered with a far superior fabric to see if we can resolve this issue. Your new recliners look fabulous and I hope you have better luck with the longevity of the material. Keep us posted out here cuz I am sure your viewers want to know as do I.🤓🤓🤓

*Nice looking couch. Can you tell me if the surface of the the three cushions is flat so that a guest could sleep on it? It almost looks like each cushion is curved up on the edges. Thanks!
@Five2Go4 жыл бұрын
They are curved up a little bit but the curves aren't stiff. Erin lays across it all the time and thinks it's very comfortable.

1,000 likes in 16 hours! Y'all are awesome!!! That means our tour video is definitely coming out THIS MONTH 👍👍 Lets up the ante a little bit - if this episode gets 2,000 likes in 48 hours (by 9/12 at 7pm EST), the tour of our motorhome will be our NEXT episode! Think you can do it?

Have you considered cup holders that screw into the wall (or maybe command strips) at each end of your sofa? Also, what is the total length of all the pieces together?
@Five2Go4 жыл бұрын
The couch is 80" wide. We've thought about cup holders on the walls but knowing our kids they'll turn into holes in the walls... 😜

RecPro has all different sizes and configurations, you should check out their site.

Very nice new couch. When it is time to replace the front seats, does this company make seats that will go with the new sofas? It was a hassle to get the old sofa out, so...how did the manufacturer get the furniture into the coach originally? Thank you for sharing.
@Five2Go4 жыл бұрын
RecPro doesn't have replacements for the front seats but they're only wearing on the arms so far so they're good for now. They do have dinette options but we haven't looked too closely at those yet. As for getting furniture into RVs, they're often loaded up with the big stuff in the factory before the slides are installed.

Just a suggestion for securing the new couch. It might be a safety issue if you had to have a emergency stop or accident (God forbid) this couch could be flying forward or another direction and hopefully the kids wouldn’t be sitting in it. If the couch has safety belts then I would think it would have to secured to the floor. Just a thought😎 Ohh, I like the color of the couch👍

Nobody rides in the living room in our motorhome, it's just not safe. If we were using the seatbelts we definitely would have anchored it down already. The reason we haven't yet is because we've already had to retrieve one pair of glasses and two TV remotes from under/behind them 😂
@maxandmyamom4 жыл бұрын
Is a repeat of yesterday's? If so how did you fasten it down and can you still use the seat belts?
@Five2Go4 жыл бұрын
We had to take yesterday's video down after a few minutes, so this is the same episode with some more edits. We have the anchors from the old couch and will install them if we notice any movement next time we drive.

Did you remember to reinstall the seat belts ? Looks like a nice couch !
@Five2Go4 жыл бұрын
We don't allow passengers in the living room while driving so we just left the seat belts on the floor.

I really thought you were going to put in the convertible bunk sofa . I guess you decided you don’t need the bunk space. This looks way more comfortable.
@Five2Go4 жыл бұрын
We really tossed around the idea of putting a queen sleeper out here and letting the kids have our room, but we decided against it. The bunk sofas are wildly expensive but very cool. The littles are sleeping on the dinette now - it converts to a bed in about 5 seconds and it gives them way more room because Vector loves sleeping with them.

These are very encouraging! It's like owning a home. You don't call your real estate agent when you need to replace the water heater, for cryn' our loud. ;)
