I used to clean those type of potties as a camp host, we’d duck tape a long handle to a toilet brush to make our jobs easier and when all done coat the inside of the riser in none-scented Pam to keep anything from sticking to it. Such is the life of a camp host wanting to camp for free in a beautiful area for 5-6 months.

My strategy for Travato showers is put Truma on Eco (104 degrees) and take a perfect temperature shower for 2.6 gallons. No having to waste water getting it the right temperature by mixing.
@gosmall.livelarge4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your idea. I might have to try that. Getting the temperature just right does take some water out of the tank head down the drain. Thanks for taking time to watch, and for being a subscriber

Scott, great tip on the shower 🚿 situation, here's another potential tip for you and your viewers....one time use portable washcloths for the entire body...sponge bath...use them whenever you need to freshen up and can't do a full shower 🚿....I have 27 gallons of water on my RV, but, as you know, a lot of people might have less... and depending on how much water you've already used... even 27 gallons is probably not available to me all the time... 😂..... Another tip are Pilot Truck Travel Stops..$12 per shower they are not closed... And, you know what.... they are very clean...an attendant is cleaning the showers and bathrooms after every client...I saw them doing it... Plus, they give you towels, have soap for your body and hair.... There's a full bathroom and shower right in the room with you, it's as nice as any hotel.... These facilities are not closing; they are servicing the trucking industry and if you are not aware of Pilot/Flying J... they are the largest fueling station network in North America.. more than 850 stations. I think they are in the process of changing the name of all stations to Pilot... We've yet to shower in our rig... it's a small hallway bathroom, a wet bath... and low on space... sure, I could do it in an emergency.... not sure how much water we'd have left over... Again, thanks for sharing... this is something we eventually need to try.. We do have a shut-off valve on the shower head and even have an outside shower... used this for cleaning our feet... Good luck.....

Thank you Mark. He make some great points the others and I should be aware of. Truckstops are a great source for RV years.

Right after we got our G, I started up our generator so I could power my Nespresso machine - just playing around to see what sorts of things we could do with our new toy. ("Oh, cool! we have a generator, let's have an espresso!"). It was so noisy, and the stench of gasoline permeated the outdoor area where we were sitting and eating. It was horrible. Now we just run the stupid thing every month because we have to keep up the warranty. I suppose at some point we'll be happy we have it, but I'm looking into putting in a couple of Battle Borns and upgrading the inverter to 3000w. We wouldn't have the Volta, but we would have the lithium power.

In one of your early videos you mentioned using a hitch mounted cargo shelf on one trip. This seemed like a brilliant choice for a class B with limited space. But I never see you or any other class B owners use or talk about them. Are there inconveniences to these that are not otherwise obvious?
@gosmall.livelarge4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I used a hitch mounted basket once to transport stuff from Chicago to FL. Baskets hold stuff, extra stuff that one may think they need but in the end do not. At least that my experience. External storage like that would be hassle to work around and could be an invitation for a potential thief to take a look.. Thanks for the great question

Newbie/Wannabe question: When you claim a spot and pay your fee, then take your rig out for a late evening ride or something, how do you keep someone from grabbing your spot while you're gone?
@gosmall.livelarge4 жыл бұрын
Good question. If the spaced is reserved though a campground or RV park your site is safe and can’t be reserved or occupied by another. If you are boondocking on BLM wild land where sites aren’t reserved some put out a chair with a note. Hope that helps. Welcome to the Channel. Thx for taking time to watch, comment and be a subscriber
@trishbenedict8414 жыл бұрын
What Scott said. But there are jerks out there and I understand if they will steal a chair. Or whatever you leave out. We bought ours just before lockdown, so we haven't had the chance to go out and use it aside from a couple of reserved campgrounds, but I went to the dollar store and got some cheap $1 bright colored plastic table clothes. They don't take up much space and I bought three of them - and they can also double as tarps if I need any. If they get stolen, cheap enough. I plan to leave them on the picnic table - if there is one and weigh them down with a couple of rocks with a little note saying what dates we are there. I have heard of people who traveled with one really old chair that they leave out because they don't think anyone will steal it.

I don't understand the difference between the tank fill or city fill on your RV? Not much privacy in that camp site showers with no door. I wouldn't like that for safety purposes. Especially being a woman. A lot of public bathrooms are just plain nasty. My late husband and I were OTR team drivers. I got really tired of using public toilet/shower facilities. I would prefer using RV facilities. Even though I understand the need to limited usage of water at times. I only had a port a pot toilet, some water and baby wipes in our semi. Which was a God sent when delivering or picking up at shippers and receivers. Some places wouldn't even let drivers into their place of business for bathroom usage. I have a cousin that lives at Boise, Id. Thank you for the video. Have a blessed day.
@gosmall.livelarge4 жыл бұрын
Since I didn't wander into the Ladies Shower House, no idea if the shower stalls had doors... My guess is all the stalls had privacy shower curtain that were removed to further discourage people from breaking the rules and showering anyway. Tank fill - fill the onboard fresh water tank using water from faucet and then disconnecting the hose once filled. Then use the RV water pump to dispense water in the RV. City "fill" = connecting the hose from the faucet using the water pressure from the hose to dispense water.
@gailjohnson66704 жыл бұрын
@@gosmall.livelarge Thank you for your reply. I understand now about the fills.
