The “split” as you refer to it, is supposed to be at the bottom of the window so that any moisture or condensation that may accumulate on the top, isn’t able to seep through any openings, water won’t flow up into a crack, but it sure loves to settle down into one.

i see you have tape over the weep holes of the window behind the ladder. why is that? I have a Wolf Creek 850 with a similar window and there looks like some water damage under it but no trace of water.

It's to keep Stink Bugs from crawling in there in there last fall. I never removed the tape when I started using the camper this spring.
