When you pulled into the campsite for Seku, WA. If you look at the dark grey house, my family and me stayed there for 2 nights. It is so beautiful up there. I kept waiting for you to pull into Seku so I could see if I could see where we stayed. It is a house with multiple rooms. Ours was upstairs overlooking the harbor. The Land across the water is Vancouver Island, Canada. When they come in you can see big ships going to places like Seattle, etc. I've also made the trip across Highway20, but not all at once. It is also a beautiful drive in the summertime and by train in the Winter. See you in more of your trips. I can see the USA through your eyes and camera. Thank you.

The ferry boats in the pacific northwest are huge fun for folks not from the area. Gives you a break from driving and gets you out on the water. I always get something hot to drink at the snack bar if they have one. About Anacortes. I was going to make a special trip up there in the 90's just to see the tommy thompson steam train. Sadly, about the time I was going to go - he passed away. Fast foward a couple decades I finally visited the island but the choo-choo was still being brought back by volunteers little by little. I did see the tiny tracks though. Sure is pretty up there.

Russ, I'm watching your Anacortes video right now. I live near Port Angeles, WA. We do get snow here at sea level some winters. About four winters ago, we got three feet of snow in Sequim overnight and it stuck around for several weeks. Needless to say, it wreaked havoc for the unprepared. We never get much news coverage here about weather events. They get five inches of snow in Seattle and it's all the local news stations talk about. LOL!
@JeanetteWolfenbarger Жыл бұрын
I watch Russ and his Videos all the time. I live on Hood Canal at Hoodsport, WA. Last year we got about 2 feet of snow. We live just under Mt Ellinor so we're always getting snow, how much we never know.

Welcome to my area Russ! I love Oak Harbour, you must try Whidbey Coffee, its the best little coffee shop off hwy20 when you're passing thru'. I stop there every time I go there on the way to Coupeville.

Washington State native here...77yo, and never been to the Eastern half of the state! So I loved Part One. My state might as well be two states--Western Washington has nearly 7 million folks, Eastern Washington has maybe 1 million...I think that was obvious, when comparing these two videos. Western WA is very Liberal, Eastern WA is conservative. Western WA gets 30-40 inches of rain, Eastern WA gets about half of that. The variety of the land in my state is mind-blowing, and one could spend an entire summer investigating this part of our great country...thank you for your efforts! I feel blessed to have been born in this jewel of a state.

Over 50 years ago, us folks in Washington had a Governor-Albert D. Rosellini-who would pronounce Washington as "Worshton"!! He was a good man, but he drove me crazy with that!...and yeah, lots of people living in Washington DO say "Worshington"!...Boneheads!

As a fellow "Native", you gotta admit, that snow is very hit-and-miss in Western Washington...some years hardly any at all, but once every 5 years or so, we will get hit by a foot or more, which sends everyone into a panic! Eastern Washington is always cooler than the Western side, and snow is a given during the winter, along with temps down to zero degrees, and even lower!

Awesome ride to see as you crossed the bridge the water is called Puget Souns inlet bay. When you turned into the State Park coming down the hill to your left is Pass Lake Spring feed and Public Swimming lake. Going in on 20 as you went into town is called Midway and you missed old Town Oak Harbor which is called Pioneer Way. Going father on Highway south at Libey Rd would would have gone to Fort Ebby State Park. I'm telling because I live 2.8 miles from Deception Pass Bridge. I have lived here 40 years.

Loved your video ! It was fun seeing areas close by that I don't normally get to. Live in Port Angeles so kinda sad you blew through. Noticed you changed lanes so figure you probably didn't see the whole downtown area, the pier looking over the straights where you probably would have seen huge freighters, or the Coho ferry that goes to Victoria Canada. You can drive through the downtown area and see old buildings and get to 101 plus a short detour pass the turn off where you can pass out small marina, go through a working McKinley Mill to a local spot we call The Spit or what is known as Ediz Hook. A skinny peninsula where you can see the town and mountains or look over the straights to Canada. There is also the Coast Guard station at the end of Ediz Hook. A few months back I got to see Killer Whales in the inlet between the Spit and Port Angeles. So cool. Hopefully next time you can enjoy some sights. Plus you can drive to the top on the mountains and see Hurricane Ridge. Yes, lots of stop lights. Lol

It’s a little bit hazy in Skagit County today, but NOTHING like it was in the Bitterroot Valley of Montana when I was there last week. The bay you were looking across is Padilla Bay, and yes, they do get minimal snow some winters, whereas I have experienced up to 11 inches only three miles inland from the bay

A few years after my cousin Earnie died of a brain tumor his wife Sandie married Van Riper (It's pronounced Ripe-Per). She helped him with the Motel & they also ran the Van Riper marina area too. She always told me she did all the work. They sold the marina part & after Van Riper died she ended up selling the Motel & moved back to Port Angeles. There used to be a restaurant called Van Riper's on the left side between Callam Bay & Sekiu and he sold that too earlier. He had a hobby of flying those Ultralights aircrafts..and probably why he didn't help her out much with the business. I remember as a kid there was hardly any RV parking between Port Angeles & Neah Bay especially Sekiu. My uncle George used to teach Music K-12 at Neah Bay for the goverment. In the summer My aunt Jean & George used to run a charter boat called the "Indian Summer" in NB. Jean was better at it than George. She was gregarious & entertained the folks too. They always came back to hear more dirty jokes. One time George ran the 36' boat aground getting too close to Waadah Island. He never lived that down. He's better at playing a Trumpet in a Jazz band than steering a boat in the fog. I so enjoyed going to NB for 2 weeks every summer. Not much has changed there in terms of housing, restaurants & grocery markets (only one). But the whole Marina side has been updated.
