Four-Day Road Trip - Travel with me across Washington State on Historic Highway 20
This "Once In A Lifetime" adventure, starts from the eastern town of Newport, from Newport, you'll be greeted by the scenic beauty of Kettle Falls and the Columbia River, where a sense of tranquility permeates the air. As you enter the Colville National Forest, dense forests envelop the road, creating a serene ambiance and offering glimpses of wildlife amid the trees.
The journey continues as Highway 20 winds its way through the breathtaking Sherman Pass Scenic Byway, where panoramic vistas of the surrounding mountains and valleys unfold before your eyes. As you descend from the pass, the landscape transitions into the picturesque Methow Valley, with its rolling hills, vineyards, and idyllic farmlands. The towns of Twisp and Winthrop, with their rustic charm and Western-themed architecture, invite you to explore their quaint shops and savor local delicacies. the highway ascends into the rugged North Cascades, leading you through the heart of North Cascades Towering peaks, i dominate the skyline, while alpine meadows and pristine lakes dot the landscape. I navigate the winding road, , and cascading waterfalls,, renowned for their brilliant turquoise hue lakes

My granddaughter and her fiancé were here last night while I was watching this and they were dumbfounded…. they couldn’t get over the photography and the fact that it made you feel like you were driving down the road. These kids are not into TV like a lot of people are and they wouldn’t be bothered with it but I noticed Devon couldn’t keep his eyes off it. You do a great job.

My Roommate in College was from Kettle Falls & Colville. I went and visited his parents 9 Acre Ranch and shot my 1st ever Gun on the Property. However, since I was a 19 year old City-Boy who didn't know anything about Guns, his Dad handed me a Magnum .44 Revolver. I got a Big Surprise when that thing packed quite a punch & almost knocked me back off of my feet. Fun Times & Great Memories 🎉🎉

I think its amazing how the architecture in the 1930's was so focused on details like those light posts at the Diablo Dam. In the middle of nowhere there was time and money to add this "Art Deco" feature.

I did virtually the same trip late in the summer of 2023 but going east instead of west. I had been over Washington Pass both ways several times over the years, but this time I had a new small truck camper and was headed for western Montana. I spent the night at a large empty state campground very near Sherman Pass. $5.50 a gallon gas changed my mind, but I had a great trip anyway. Thanks for the great video.

Hello! I was so happy to see you make a video driving through my town of Republic, WA. On your way there on Sherman Pass you mentioned the metal statues of wolves. Those statues were made by Smoker Marshand. He is a very well know tribal member to the Colville Tribes and makes those statues. You can actually find them all over Washington State. He was an amazing man who did so much for the indigenous here. He unfortunately passed away about a month ago. Thank you so much for your videos.

Thanks, Russ!! That video brought back a lot of memories. In 1961, while attending Cal Berkeley, I took a hike up in that area with a couple fellow students. We took the boat up Lake Chelan to Stehekin and hiked over the pass down to Diablo Dam, about a 50 mile hike. The hike includes a number of trails including part of the Pacific Crest Trail. It seemed like we were somewhere in the Alps.
