This is my review of the LAMS approved RVF 400, it's an excellent bike and these were the questions I wanted to know before buying the bike!

I've just got mine painted up with the latest TYGA fairing on and the full TYGA system. It is ear splitting and no one has any idea what kind of bike it is haha.

They're such a good little bike. I've had mine for 4 years now and I don't plan on selling it ever ;) The mirrors on the Tyga kit look like they move around a bit while riding.

I have one of these and i have ridden just about every applicable L plater approved bike (rc390, duke 390, 250/300 ninja, r3, cbr 300/500, mt07 etc) and NONE of them will compare to this. The noise with a decent can is something else. The rev range 16,000ish redline!!! Why the fuck would you want a bike that only revs to 10 and sounds like shit? They are just absolute porn and engineering awesomeness that is completely non existent in sub 600cc bikes nowdays.

There are a few rare cases where low KM's are genuine. I bought my RVF in 2014 and it was imported in 2012 showing around 26,000km on the odometer. Obviously you take the number with a grain of salt and look at other things. It had original fairings in excellent condition, bolts on the triple clamps, clutch perch and front brake master cylinder had no tool marks and still had the paint marks on them from the factory. I've still got this bike and aside from being totalled from an accident (which it's now been repaired, I've got a short video on my channel) I've only ever had 2 minor problems, reg/rec got fried and a dirt inside the rear wheel hub which prevented the clamp from holding it in place properly which resulted in my chain tension loosening after being set correctly. If you ever have charging problems (usually the more common problem on Hondas that age), the cause usually stems from the wiring coming from the stator, as it goes from the stator to a connector on the opposite side of the bike then to the reg/rec/battery (or something along those lines, it's been a while since I modded mine). You can eliminate the extra wiring and connector and just wire the stator straight to the reg/rec/battery, I've never had a problem since and you get a little boost in charging voltage.

another good place for parts is the tyga website, they don't sell a lot of maintenance parts (they have EBC brake pads that are better than the Chinese brand that most bike shops will sell you) but its worth a look

hey man !! got a nc30 had 2 of them cool video just a tip undo speedo cable at wheel cable tie to forks and u can judge speed from rev counter she will go in the red and see how brave u are also try changing the front sporket she will do over 200+ have to get someone on a bigger bike to clock u 🖒🖒🖒🖒works on nc30

Hey, I recently bought an RVF400 myself and I noticed that I tend to slide around a lot on it as I can't grip on to the tank very well with my legs. I've been looking around for tank pads to help with the grip issue. Do you know what tank pads you have on the bike?

CMSNL are good for looking up parts and numbers, however BKperformance are the mob you want to go through when purchasing parts. Just give them the part number and they will look after you.

When it was new it costed about the same as all the 750s and 1000s at the time. So not many people wanted to buy a 400 when they could get a 750 or a 1000 for the same price.

Hi, there are few comments regarding owning mc22 and upgrading to rvf400,, would u recommend rvf or jump straight to 600ccwhat is your opinion,about to get open license but don't wanna just go 1000cc as there are heaps of cool bikes that are lower cc, cheers

Hi mate, I would say it really depends on your skill level, how confident you are, how long you've been riding. If you're still learning and don't feel completely confident, I would say the RVF400 would be perfect as they're quite fast but not fast enough to get your self into too much "trouble" so to speak 🤙

Hey Mate, had a VFR400, and have purchased a lot of parts through CMSNL are a great spare parts provider, only issue is minimum freight charge is about A$50, for oil filters and consumables I'd recommend www.wemoto.com they have an Australian branch/distributor and won't sting your so hard with freight, Also if your not already subsrcibed to www.400greybike.com forum heaps of good advice

Stock 0-100 is 3.6 seconds with a professional rider also you'll do better if you limiter 2nd even with the dropped gearing you should hit 100+ in second. Stock is 1st 85ks 2nd 120 ish and top speed is 220 limitering 6th

SoulBrandt the 650L are awful I rode one and was very displeased , lack of power , so slow, will admit seating is comfy as all hell though! and it just sounds awful ! But each to their own:)

no 2 cyl sounds good IMO ;) also not sure how you deduct that its faster? 650L unrestricted push 69 HP , weighs 192 KG and has 59 N.m of torque RVf400 stock pushes 61 HP weighs 183 wet and has 35 Nm of torque BUT THATS STOCK if you perfrom the few mods and switches you can do so you might have 8 more HP but you also 9 extra KGS of weight which for a bike is ALOT , your torque will help off the mark but honestly i dont see it winning and if it did it wouldnt be by much , just my observation after looking up both bikes :) also RVF 0 - 100 in 4.2Secs 650L (Stock Though) in 5.8 BUT i would say with Unrestricted would be about 4.6 :)

@@stocksy5798 Thank you for replying, I was looking for a first bike and all the bikes that are close to reasonable speed for the lams period look really ugly. I saw the RVF400s with Tyga kits and thought they looked really clean and i don't mind the displacement. Its just that they are hard to find. Bikesales had one near Christmas last year but no more. AidosTheMan look at the vfr400! It's mostly the same but is a lot cheaper here in England. The price difference you could upgrade the bike with better suspension and lots of other things and will be an amazing bike.
