The appearance of the unit is beautiful but when I finally got the unit level, switched it on and made some basic adjustments my jaw hit the floor! Again just as you said, this projector really has the quality of the best movie theaters. The color, the detail, it’s all there and your videos made the choice much easier. Thanks buddy!!

I just upgraded (?) from a business class BenQ 1080 to a Sony VW90ES (yes still 1080) but a beautiful beast nonetheless! Completely silent. I also used the same ceiling mount from you but found it wobbled due to hanging 29 pounds on it. Ordered a Sony ceiling mount , hoping for better and sturdier results! One day I’ll afford a good 4k projector!! I’m jealous

Thanks for the vid, looking to buy the same unit and seeing the setup helps me a lot as I plan to install myself. Regarding the throw distance, I have 1 inch to spare, but curious if I were to mess that up and the projector was too close to my screen for my given screen size, would the pic simply fail to fill the entire screen, or something worse? Thanks!

@@TheRafcave Oh ok, i couldn't live with that myself, i noticed you pushed the image out past the edges to hide it, which almost no one would ever see, but i'd know it was there and it would drive me up the wall.

@@CaseTheCorvetteMan Yeah I push the image and use the black matting effect as much as I can to cut the sides so the top and bottom go larger so I don't notice the slant so much. It Is what It Is. 😄

Hey Rat, I own a Sony 55es on a 120in screen. I love my Sony but it's 3yrs old. It has a great picture but I'm seriously thinking of your 295es. The only problem is the 1500 lumens. Is your picture nice and bright or do you feel 1500 lumens isn't enough? I just saw LG has a short throw LASER 4k projector that is truly native and is in the $5,000 plus range.. Nick PS. I love my Klipsch 7.2.4 setup. Yours is amazing!!!!😁😁 Pss. You should try battlefield 5 on your screen. The sound alone will rock your room and it looks great on my 4k 65in xbr x930e.

Thanks super helpful video! Quick questions. How far from the ceiling is your PJ lens center, how far below the ceiling is the top edge of your screen? What is your screen size and how far back is your PJ mounted? Would be really helpful to know as I just bought a 295 and am moving my mount back to 17’ from screen on a 120” screen. My lens will be a 15” drop from the ceiling, top of viewing area will be 18” below ceiling. Thanks!!

Hey man, I couldn't find a great configuration when mounting the bracket to the Sony. Does yours feel a little wobbly? I wonder if anyone has found a better mounting bracket that fits the SONY (non universal).

Mines only wobbly when someone Is walking upstairs. Sony's a beast. I just use the Sanus one.

Hi, the Sony 295ES Is a true 4K projector, the Optoma UHD65 Is a pixel shifting 4K. Sony Is alot better but alot more expensive.

How does this compare to the first Sony native 4K home theatre projectors that did cost around 3X the price of this around 2013? I got a demo of a Sony 4K in 2013 and it looked awesome. I would like to upgrade my Sony HW30 to a 4K projector and I am leaning towards the European version Sony VW270, same as yours.

Well the projector now has HDR which gives a more colorful and brighter picture with the native 4K. Save for the 270 like I did.

THE RAFCAVE I Googled and saw the VW1000ES actually was 5X the price at $25K. It had 2000 lumens so possibly a bit brighter? I suppose the technology inside has improved much with the 270 even at the lower price but what about the lens, is it able to output as sharp of a picture?

Hey Raf! I love all your videos man! You are truly very passionate about this hobby. I also had an optoma UHD 65 but was just not happy with it. I feel that it had very poor black levels and super noisy! I think I'm gonna pull the trigger on the 295. How do you find the black levels on the Sony?

Thanks Sheraz! The Sony Is a huge step up In less noise, and the black levels are good! I have a black room thou so that helps. But native 4K Is superior In everyway! Sony rules!

hello the rafcave thank you for your videos I live in Belgium in Europe I bought the Sony VPL-VW270ES projector I tried to adjust so that the image takes all my canvas but when I am fully zoomed with my video projector to adjust it I miss 20 cm from each side top, bottom left and right you know why? It's annoying suddenly I have my image too small I have 2m40 between my projector and my web thank you e I speak with a google traud in English sorry , I own this screen: Lumene Coliseum UHD 4K 240C thank you very much

So what happend with the Epson, did you even try it, if you did were the difference between native 4k E- shift that great. Imean ofcourse in a perfect world we all want sony and jvc projectors but with the difference in price i have to ask, can a bang for the buck be an argument here, is it night and day or is the difference that huge unless you compare?

The Epson was great! Better thank DLP for sure. But for detail and clean crisp Images, native 4K on a big screen Is definitely a noticable difference.
