Ross’ video is among the best ever made about our EasyTouch RV thermostat. Great instruction in here! We love his channel. Micro-Air endorses the replacement of the Dometic single zone with its EasyTouch RV thermostat. Although very entertaining (and we can understand the frustration), we recommend against smashing your old thermostat with a sledge hammer. It may come in handy in an emergency or as a diagnostic tool. Save your old thermostat in the EasyTouch RV’s box.

I have never ever been this excited about a dang thermostat lol 😂 this thermostat is really amazing! I live in my 2021 28ft travel trailer full time and use it for traveling all over the US for work and my two dogs are always with me. I live in North Carolina and our weather here is already crazy and sporadic and is all over the place.. during the day you'll need your AC and during the night you'll need your heat lol 😆 being as I travel with my camper and two dogs more then the average person, im constantly in different states with various temperatures. So one week I could need the AC for a whole week (day and night ) and the next week I could be somewhere else to where I would need to use my furnace all week (day and night). I constantly worry that when I'm away from the camper at work if the AC is staying on or cooling properly or if the heat is staying on working properly due to my dogs being inside... I also worry about power outages while I'm at work and not knowing about it or being notified about the outage... the fact that this thermostat will notify you of a power outage or if something is wrong with the system and it is no longer cooling or heating is such an amazing feature for me and I'm sure for all pet owners who travel!! I love the fact that while I'm away, I can monitor the temperature inside my camper and make sure that my two pups are nice and cool when it's hot out and I can make sure that when it's cold out, that they're staying nice and warm and cozy in the bed watching their favorite TV shows lol 😂 and if the temperature needs to be adjusted, I can do it in just a few seconds and keep my boys nice and comfortable 😊 will definitely be placing my order next Friday on pay day! 😁 I can't believe I haven't found out about this sooner! This is a game changer for full time RVER'S and especially for the ones who have pets of any kind!

I was thinking why destroy your old thermostat when you can use it as a backup? Then you described how buggy it was and I instantly understood. That sledgehammer was personal. *Office Space* Printer scene comes to mind.
@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS4 ай бұрын
honestly, the reason I switched it out is because I didnt trust it to work, not necessarily because I wanted a different thermostat. Because of the issues with the factory thermostat, i would have never reinstalled it as a backup anyway. and you are very correct, that sledgehammer was personal 🤣🤣🤣 thanks for watching and commenting my friend!

@@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS I feel you and would have done the same. Trust is important. I upgraded to the same EZ Touch a few days ago and like it so far. The only thing weird with it so far is it thinks the room temperature is 8 degrees higher then it actually is. Luckily it allows you to override what it thinks it is to be the true "feel". So not a big deal in the end. I just find it odd since It's not placed on a outside wall so I know the heat difference is not created by an external factor. My guess is the device runs hot and that heat is reflected in the internal thermostat. A infrared thermometer shows the device externally at 10 degrees hotter then ambient room temperature. So that is my theory at present. I'm curious if anyone else has experienced something similar?
@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS4 ай бұрын
mine is a little high as well, I think they give you a 10 or 11 degree adjustment. MInes about 4 degrees higher. Knowing its not just mine, I will reach out to them and see if they know why this is happening.
@lrndspirit55674 ай бұрын
@@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS . As long as I can offset it with the available adjustment setting I'm happy. I just was curious if I got a odd unit. If others are similar that makes me feel better. Most likely it's due to the large lighted screen and all the fancy hardware inside. As long as it's not an issue of overheating then it's a non-issue. There is not a lot of similar products like this on the market to compare notes with. Thanks for the reply.

I have that dometic thermostat but with bluetooth, and it is now malfunctioning, and also I can no longer connect via bluetooth, which made it easier because of the issue with the buttons. but, this was part of a kit with a new controller for an 2006 model duotherm 15000 btu, it has always been weird turning on and off quite frequently changing fan speeds and such...now a different issue... when I sleep I will put just the fan on low (or fan +AC in warmer months), once in a while it would get stuck on low when I turned it off or put the fan on auto with ac, now it does it all the time, it will change sometimes to high fan, but when ac off it will turn to low instead of off, but hours after use in auto mode, it may begin to turn off when the ac is off. I also have the cover off, touch it and it may switch F/C or do something I don't want it to. it's pretty good about keeping the temp, but, I wish it worked well. I noticed that dometic has discontinued the bluetooth version of this thermostat, many complaints about the BT app kept the ratings low, even though it does work ok. you'd think they'd come out with something better by now, but, no.

Hi Ross, I just ordered this thermostat to replace exact same Dometic thermostat. This issue I am wanting to correct is then the system is in AUTO and how it cycles on and off when the temps are warm, I found a video that said the way to correct the cycling is to keep the fan ON and not in AUTO. Hopefully this thermostat doesn't have the same characteristics of cycling on and off?
@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS6 ай бұрын
what do you mean by cycling? it turns off and then back on rapidly?
@rickm02086 ай бұрын
@@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS Thanks for the reply Ross, I thought I replied with a KZbin Shorts link. What is going on, when in AUTO the fan cycles between HIGH and LOW whenever the temperature is within 5º according the video. When is AUTO the fan is in HIGH, and when it close to the set temp is shuts the fan off for a few seconds and puts the fan in LOW, all the while the compressor is still running. However, it seems to do it with less of a temperature spread with our Demetic Penguin.

As long as your RV has internet for the thermostat to connect to, yes.

I can't get mine to connect to the wifi. The wifi signal is blue. I did have to reset the wifi to a different name and password because the park I live at upgraded the wifi. Can you help me figure out why it won't connect to wifi. It will connect to Bluetooth and will turn on manually.

Try connecting to your phones hotspot.

Mine worked for like 2 months but now the compressor will not work on my 2021 Surveyor Legend Coleman Mac AC. It initially had a AirExcel Thermostat 9430-3382. Any recommendations?
@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS Жыл бұрын
Id put your old thermostat back in quickly to see if the issue was actually the thermostat or the compressor. If it’s the thermostat, I am sure Micro Air will do the right thing and send you another one.

Old guy with limited hotspot experience here. How are you able to access the thermostat remotely on your wife’s phone via the hotspot on yours back at the trailer? I’m interested in the mechanics of how you set this up. And yes, I can almost hear the eyes rolling by you and other members of your audience.
@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS5 ай бұрын
no problem peter, the hotspot is like a router, it connects the thermostat to the internet. all you need to do is log into the app on the phone you have with you and select "wifi" instead of "bluetooth". since the thermostat back in the rv is connected to the hotspot, that means it is communicating with the internet, and the app on the phone you have with you will find it so you can monitor and control it.

@@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS Ross, thanks for that quick response. So, when I'm in personal Hotspot in settings, I need to be sure I'm allowing others to join and I see the is a wifi password there different than my usual one. Does the remote phone need to use that or how is it connecting to the phone in the rv? Thanks for your patience. I've learned so much from your videos the last couple years I discovered them. Your channel is my go to for reliable rv education.
@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS5 ай бұрын
yes allow others to join, enter the hotspot password into the thermostat so it can connect. remote phone has nothing to do with the phone in the rv, as long as you have service on the remote phone, just open the app and it will ask you how you want to connect, select wifi. it will find your thermostat on the internet since its connected to the hotspot on the phone in the rv.

dont need wifi to install, you can set that up later. everything will work except wifi access from your phone. you can still use bluetooth, just no access or control when away.

@RVTIPSANDTRAVELS Жыл бұрын
to control while away, yes it needs to connect to the internet. bluetooth is only good for about 25-30 feet.

make sure your phone has the hotspot available to be seen by other networks. also make sure you are typing your device name in letter for letter. i changed my phones "name" to my initials so i knew i was getting it correct at the thermostat. your hotspot also needs to be set at 2.4 ghz.

here are the steps for android, s21 at least: Draw down from the top of the screen to access Settings. (Gear icon in the upper right corner directly below the battery indicator.) Select Connections. Select Mobile Hotspot and Tethering. If it isn't already switched on, switch it to the ON position using the roggle switch on the right side of the screen. Then touch Mobile Hotspot. Below the Network Name and Password, it indicates the Band on which it functions - mine defaulted to 2.4 GHz but you may have to choose 2.4
