One of the writers talked on reddit a little about how Marrow's 'Stay' semblance works. Obviously its super powerful, so it needed some balancing. It burns his aura very quickly, so his timing needs to be right, and be wary of the duration of use. Presumably moreso against other strong aura users. Marrow mentions struggling to hold the effect whilst Nora bursts through the door. It also seems relative aura strength may play a part, so wearing Penny down likely helps. Especially as she is a Maiden. Had the fight continued, Marrow would presumably have been very vulnerable.

Everyone's semblance drains their aura to a degree. It seems like Blake's is really easy to use near constantly. meanwhile Sun can't hold his for more than a few seconds before his aura breaks; or at least is on the verge of breaking. He took a near lethal hit from Ilya and he hadn't been touched that fight at all. Marrow's semblance also appears to be directional and throughout this fight with Penny he was either off his feet or Vine or Harriet would've been caught in the way.

It was really sweet how she called him Dad, Pietro didn't make a weapon, he made a daughter and the world of Remnant is better off for it. Beware Ironwood and Watts that he will make you pay dearly for daring to do this to his daughter. Not to mention one of the genius aspects of RWBY is the literary allusions it plays with across the fairy tails it draws from. Seeing how they are played, straight, twisted, reversed, or subverted with Joan of Arc, the Wizard of Oz, Achilles and the Tinman. I know that in the story pinocchio and Geppetto are swallowed by the whale at the same time, but what if Pietro willing goes in the whale to save Penny for the last time. Excellent episode with an ominous ending but now we're waiting another week to find out what happens to Oscar. That's torture.

I think the divide in the teams stems less from just having different ideas and methods and is more about losing faith in Ruby. Yang didn't say, "we've got different ideas, so let's split the team effort." She said that following under Ruby wasn't working out, Ruby's older sister didn't have the faith in her to follow her.
@KitsyX3 жыл бұрын
Well, I think Jaune and Oscar still had faith in Ruby... But yeah, Ren and Yang probably are doubting... Although Ren has many things going on and is probably more focused on himself right now... Ruby is the idealist and Yang is more practical... Ruby signed up to be a hero and do her best, while Yang just wanted adventure and to kick ass, not a potentially unwinnable quest to save the world and while she's probably stronger than Raven, she's still afraid... On top of this I think everyone's on edge because they haven't slept for a day or two at this point... But yeah, that's what probably hit me the hardest... Yang was like everything for Ruby (except volume 4 where she was messed up maybe), now within the last two volumes she's gradually turned from her, leading up to this... At least as a leader anyway.

A bit of justification for why solo Penny was getting beaten by the Ace Ops: waaaaaay back in Volume 3, Glynda explained that Maidens used to be hunted by regular people (well, as much "regular" an elite warrior on Remnant can be) for their power. So yes, it's long been established that Maidens are vulnerable to regular people, especially when the Amber fight shows that they can be tag teamed and are vulnerable to more esoteric Semblances (Emerald's illusions for Amber and Marrow's STAY for Penny).

So, if Ruby breaks herself down into her molecular components, then she can never be caught. If you put handcuffs on her, she can just break herself down to her molecular components, slip out of the handcuffs, and reassemble herself. No matter how hard you try, she can't be captured unless it's in a completely sealed room. But if it's completely sealed than no oxygen could get in so she'd die. The only way to capture her would be to put her in a room with a large amount of oxygen in tanks. Salem doesn't stand a chance of keeping her if she doesn't want to be kept. I wondered why it was that Penny fought out in the open instead of with her back to the wall. With her back to the wall, waiting for her friends, the Ace Ops could only have come at her from one direction. She wouldn't have to watch her back. Also, how is Penny going "oof"? She's a robot. She can't feel herself get hit and even if she did, she could just stand there and let them hit her all day and all that would happen is she'd get some dents. This fight made no sense. Sure, she's got an aura, but that doesn't mean that she isn't still made of metal which is a LOT stronger than skin. She could have surrounded them with her swords and made them fight in every direction while she waited for the door to be opened, or she could have fought them with her swords while she opened the door herself. Computers are much better than humans at being able to multitask. Her dad was watching and listening as well. He could have helped keep her calm and give her some ideas about how to fight them. He was the main one who made their weapons, after all. He'd know their weaknesses. They didn't detect her signal to him otherwise they'd have intercepted it, but Watts never mentioned that he'd seen any signal. If you can't get through a door because of a barrier, try the wall. Normally the wall is a weak-point in buildings because construction crews forget and just make a strong door. It's also too expensive to reinforce every wall throughout a facility that big. Penny could use her lasers to cut the wall around the door while the rest of her swords are fighting the AO. We've seen in the first volume even, how her weapons can cut right through the metal of the military. Cut a quick hole while the maiden's powers and her swords are holding them back. Easy peasy.

A couple things you guys gotta take into consideration with the Ruby/Yang argument, is that it wasn't JUST a disagreement about how to proceed. The big thing that has the others worried about their relationship, is that Yang called Ruby's leadership capabilities into question ( literally saying " I know we agreed to follow your lead, but that hasn't exactly been working out lately " ). Yang has pretty much always followed Ruby's lead without a second thought ever since she was made team leader. The only times I can recall that she didn't was when she (A) was super depressed after she lost her arm, and (B) was under the influence of the Apathy in Vol. 6. But now that shits hitting the fan again, she's starting to think that it might be because Ruby's not making good calls. Before I continue I want to bring up something else pretty important. From your discussion it sounds like you guys are kinda under the opinion that both Ruby and Yang thought that both plans ( Helping Mantle & Launching Amity ) had merit, and that they were disagreeing on which one should be the priority. But this isn't the case. Ruby sees the merit in helping Mantle, but is focusing on the long game. Yang however DOES NOT think Ruby's plan has ANY merit ( or at least not enough to justify trying it ). Cause the thing is, even if we can get Amity up and send a distress signal, there's no guarantee that help will arrive in time ( though Yang almost seems to believe that help won't come AT ALL ). So when you get down to it, the argument isn't about: one side thinks one idea is better, and the other side thinks the other idea is better. What it actually boils down to is that: Yang who has already started to lose faith in Ruby's ability to lead, now thinks that Ruby wants to waste time ( something they have very little of ) on a plan that ( in Yang's opinion ) is basically worthless, just because she ( Ruby ) "has hope" that it will work. So maybe now you can see why some of the others are a little concerned that there will be a big fall out from their fight. Sorry for the long comment, but I want to bring up one last thing. Yang thinks things have gotten so bad because of Ruby's choices ( primarily keeping what they learned form the Lamp of Knowledge a secret from Ironwood ), but if anything it's Yang's fault for what she did with Robin. Ever since she found out about the Relics and Maidens in Vol. 5, Yang has begrudged Ozpin for keeping secrets from them. And after the revelations in Vol. 6, she was absolutely livid with him for not trusting them. And now blames their situation on Ruby keeping secrets from Ironwood. But in what might be the most hypocritical thing I've seen in a while, Yang telling Robin about Amity not only actively betrays Ironwood's trust by sabotaging an op, and leaking confidential information. But in not telling anyone not even Ruby, she's doing the exact same thing she's getting so pissed at everyone else for. I love Yang, but with how she's been behaving lately, she's definitely the worst character in the main crew. I could go on a bit more why I think Yang's decisions to keep a secret is so much worse than Ruby's, but this comment is way to long as it is. :p
@mizel.i3 жыл бұрын
I agree wholeheartedly. Yeah Ruby and Ironwood had their own faults or mistakes but Yang had too and she doesn’t acknowledge of it and made it sound like following Ruby will make it only worse(or thats how ı heard of it, you can think as you wish)

Atlas won't fall if you just open the Vault. The Staff of Creation is currently producing an infinite supply of energy to keep Atlas afloat. But since the Staff can only be used for one purpose at a time, if someone claims the Staff and uses it for something else, the Staff will stop holding Atlas up, thus causing the city to fall then. So even if you take the Staff out of the Vault, Atlas will remain in the sky until the Staff is used for another purpose.

@BlueButterfly0153 жыл бұрын
Yeah, with all the secrets that came out about Raven and Oz, Yang was perhaps more uncomfortable with hiding the truth than anyone else. It’s clear she wasn’t okay with keeping secrets from Ironwood but followed Ruby’s lead because she trusted her. She also disagreed with Ironwood keeping secrets from Robyn (and the Council), only she had no hang ups about going against his orders. In that case, it did pay out because Robyn did end up reaching out to Ironwood to work with him and just last episode May admits its why she knew it was important to help RWBNP with Amity. On the other hand, keeping secrets from Ironwood did seem to backfire to some extent, that said since it wasn’t the only factor working against them it’s impossible to say if it was the right call or not. Regardless, I think it is naturally after everything that happened to question some of the choices they’ve made, especially for Yang whom has shown how increasingly frustrated she is with people keeping secrets about important things.

@@galonski64 Yeah, personally I think Ruby's choice to withhold the full truth until later didn't change that much... And if she had told the truth, they were probably already working on the best plan they had (they didn't know, but remember that Salem only really went after Atlas now because she was worried that Ozpin could get Ironwood to call for aid from Vacuo and that's all she seemed really concerned about? Communication was probably most important)... No one knew what Salem was planning... When pressured, whether he trusted them more or not, Ironwood would probably snap and fall back to his raising Atlas plan, Team RWBY would disagree and try to stop him... Near enough same result... If he did it earlier before snapping, I believe Cinder and Neo had already infiltrated Atlas... He might have done it while Watts was visiting Jacques too... They'd be vastly outnumbered, but that hasn't stopped them causing problems before... If Neo could get in and sabotage something... If Cinder could ambush whoever the maiden was... Either way, raising Atlas is no good long term because they probably can't go out of range of dust working because all their essential stuff that runs on dust, even if the staff could take them further... If dust can work there, crafts can probably be made to get close enough to cause trouble... Make a missile that could deliver a sentinel or whatever... Salem now knows that her powers don't even _compare_ to that of the Gods, not even in the slightest. She foolishly challenged them before, but was infinitely outmatched, especially given the fact that magic itself came from the Gods. As did humanity. And the entire world. So Salem's plan is not to try and fight the Gods, as she was defeated instantly and subsequently cursed with immortality the last time she tried to attack them, with the God of Light telling her that the only way the curse can be lifted is if she learns the importance of life and death as she should have.

She *does* have thermal vision! I always figured that was how she saw Blake's ears under the bow. That said, Penny's explanation of Ruby's semblance is complete and total pigswill. There is no negation of mass, our molecules are what give us mass. It doesn't matter how finely you dice a body, the resulting mess will have equal mass. But hey, the physics of Remnant always bend around the Rule of Cool, so, whatever? Cool fight, great to see someone else's team tactics; and Nora finally finds the limit of her semblance. I used to think grabbing the monofilament would remove half of Harriet's hand, but I guess the only reason they dismembered Penny is because they were within her aura. What *really* bugs me is that Penny is still remotely accessible, even after what happened to the knights and paladins at Beacon.
