I believed this was the case, and this episode proved it to me. The silver eyes didn't kill it, nor did it get partially petrified like the leviathan. It was damaged, definitely, but not dead. These grimm are resistant to the greatest weapon against grimm, and this was just the prototype.

Are they still capable of feeling and thinking but unable to do anything but watch? I've seen a lot of people seem disappointed that the hound died so soon. But the reveal is so much more information to keep you guessing. How many more silver eye experiments does Salem have and how many has she collected throughout the years. How many have died in experimenting to create just the hound and how many more may there possibly be lying in wait for activation it took disorientation by silver eyes and being distracted by a primary objective full on Tyrant style and getting crushed and impaled under a statue to be killed. It otherwise had the strength and wits to evade and counter the best fighters and support like Yang and Weiss. The fact that there may be so few due to the rarity of silver eyes just helps support how bad a situation would be if there were more than one and what its experimental continuations would turn out to be.

Omg I kinda have a terrifying theory. What if Summer the person we know who is nice, happy, sunshine and rainbow had a dark turn. Think about it. Ruby is the red rose right? So that means Summer is the white rose. But, what if she became a black rose...??????? That can really be dark if Summer is something like Salem. Raven knows so much but probably had to kill Summer because Summer was corrupted and nearly died remember Raven was freaking out when Yang said those words too Raven it was PTSD for her. That's my theory that Summer turned to a black rose. She went to the darkside and maybe there is more to it. I had this theory for so long because the moment between Yang and Raven and Raven reaction always made me curious. I would love to see Ruby gets scared and fear when she meets her mother looking like Salem all dark and evil. Because Salem on Vol 8 ep 9 Salem said to Yang "Oh, her again" like in a oh yeah...thats reminds me. Maybe next we will be introduced by a super strong mysterious person that Salem called. I think the reason it has to be a Silver-Eyes warrior that is turned into a grimm is the same reason why Salem became evil and corrupted instead of dying in the pools of grimm, it's because being blessed with a pure good power from the light brother seems to make the person corruptible with the grimm liquid thing from the dark brother instead of dying to it

One thing I haven’t really seen commented on, the Hound completely healed from the Silver Eye blast. If Willow and Whitley hadn’t pushed the statue on it, it would have shredded RWB. These things are not just strong, dangerous, and intelligent, they’re durable

Honestly, I feel like people are going to truly appreciate RWBY's story once it finishes. See, what people complain about is that there is just too much mystery, not enough explanation yet now people are appreciating a lot of things in the earlier volumes due to knowing the Lost Fable, now they are appreciating why Ruby had to stay alive because of this episode so much. When everything will have reached its conclusion, people will appreciate just how interconnected everything is, I feel. People only had complained about 'odd' choices due to not knowing the real reasons behind them. Whenever said choice gets unraveled, the old scenes surrounding them all make so much sense. Consensus, most RWBY critics absolutely suck at reading the mood, noticing foreshadowing and even if not, giving choices the benefit of the doubt. Just this episode, people were raging about how the characters didn't comment on the silver eyes. How would they have even taken serious notice of it at that moment? It's definitely going to be brought up later. I personally love how subtle RWBY is about it. A surprise character standing on top of a roof at the end of a season, a very overused foreshadowing technique in these kinds of shows (Or other similar scenes), is a much safer route to take but definitely takes away from the actual twists.

I doubt they even made a note of the silver eyes, between the adrenaline of the fight and the shock (not to mention they were not zoomed in with a pause button). What I find interesting is that Whitley was not spooked by a talking Grimm any more than he would be of a normal one, I think it is because he has no history with them so no idea what to really expect other than them being scary.

RWBY really is one of those shows where you highly benefit from rewatching old seasons, not just because the things that confused us make more sense with future context, but also because there were things that we didn't notice or think about because we lacked context, so we forgot about them. I feel like there are a lot of RWBY critics who watched each episode once and then never looked back. If they went back and rewatched the old seasons, they would remember and notice things. Also, one thing people are not taking into account about the characters not mentioning the silver eyes is that the fact that that was a person is so important to Ruby that it overshadows the fact that he had silver eyes. The fact that a person, who had their own life and their own soul, had been converted into a Grimm, endured so much suffering, and was finally killed by them weighed so much more on her that it struck her before his silver eyes. Critics in this fandom have no patience and can't wait for the silver eye reveal to sink in to Ruby's consciousness. Remember, they wanted Ironwood to _immediately_ flip his shit after Oscar told him the truth, but Ironwood put it on the back burner because he knew stopping the Grimm invasion was the more pressing matter, and the critics didn't consider that.

Of course we are still in the dark on all of what Salem is up to, everyone is. The realization of The Hound having silver eyes was priceless and the theory crafting that followed was great. I think if Summer was Grimmified and isn't dead I think her Grimm design should be similar in looks to Salem herself where she is still humanoid but heavily corrupted. Like the red eyes and some spikes or something coming out of her, maybe a horn?

Hey, MurderofBirds, rewind to when the camera goes back to the hound after it gets crushed by the statue. It shows a skeleton hand of the person inside (At first I thought it might have been the hound's skeleton claw, but that wouldn't make sense). While we saw a skeleton hand, the man's face was well-preserved, and it takes from three weeks to up to a decade or more (MAYBE a century if the preservation efforts are that great) to fully decompose into a clean skeleton, with the amount of time this body could have possibly been around, and how rare silver-eyed people are nowadays... Salem had to have been preserving these bodies, then reanimating them with the grimm rivers. What would that say about Summer's fate?

Im so mad i missed the discussion, but my theory is that the grimm take over is like a parasite and for some like Cinder it just attaches to you and each time you are weak it spread more and more over your body and another thing i think is that it can also just take over whenever it wants but another thing i think it that the grim parasite take over thing works like that one plant that makes ants into zombies by using their dead bodies and so i think that if someone passed the grin could take over their body and still use it. Oh man, that was definitely intense, glad you enjoyed it. I definitely did. ^_^ As for Ruby using her Silver Eyes in anger, I'd say it's more she's especially tired of Penny being targeted. She did the same thing to Cinder in Volume 7, didn't even bother fighting her and opted to simply try ending her with her Silver Eyes, whether she'll have the same motivation towards anyone else is unknown at this time. But yes, if Ruby sees Summer as a Silver-Eyed Grimm, that *will* be the last straw, and she'll definitely lose her mind, hopefully she'll be able to find it again before the end, we'll see.

I bet only silver eyes can be turned fully into grim like that-for the same reason Salem turned into grim. The god of light is where both Salem and the silver eyes powers originated, so grim couldn’t fully consume/destroy them. Instead, it turns them into grim/people hybrids. Yuck (Not saying it works the exact same way but I bet that’s what Salem was thinking when she decided to try it) HAH The realization count down was an amazing touch. So The Hound is quite literally a symbiote (Marvel) but it's a parasitic symbiote (Only favors the Grimm, The Host doesn't get anything and is not in control). You can see a skeleton of the Grimm, most likely the Faunus's skeleton after being morphed. It would be interesting see the Faunus's anatomy after being morphed, does it still contain their organs that requires to live? Or is the body all skeleton and only the head remains, possibly the Grimm controlling it.
