In this episode I show you how to perform a compression test on the Renesis 13B-MSP Wankel engine of the Mazda RX-8 and how to treat coked and stuck apex seals to regain a little compression.
Sticky or worn apex seals are noticeable by loss of power and starting problems, especially warm start problems. "engine won't start" "crank no start".
I performed three compression tests on the 13B-MSP. One for reference before treatment and one each after soaking the apex seals with ATF gear oil and after a flush with Ballistol oil.
In the conclusion I show the measured compression values of the wankel engine and the achieved improvement in bar.
