Jack Horner is more of a nursery rhyme then a fairy tale story. It goes “Little Jack Horner sat in a corner eating a Christmas pie. He stuck in a thumb and pulled out a plum and said what a good boy am I” and the only reason I know it is because of adventure time

Goldis outfit and appearance is meant to show how she's been raised by the bears. Her hair looks like bear ears, her earrings are mismatched like Mama Bear, the necklace and her eyes are the same as Baby Bear's, and the scars over her eyebrow match Papa Bears missing eye

Honestly while at first, hearing Goldi's wish painted her in pretty bad light, if you rewatch second time, you can see that thorough the film, Baby bear constantly denied their familiar bonds, calling her a fugitive/porrige-stealing orphan, saying she is not his sister, and that she is not even a bear- and maybe, growing up as siblings, he never really meant it seriously but it obviously left an impact on Goldi over the years. It was only after she saved his life, Baby bear called her his sisters - "You've saved my life, sis." So yee, it was kinda mean from Goldi to want a human family, but her choices are understandable
@ma.2089
@ma.2089 Жыл бұрын
Yeah I’m surprised most don’t pick up on it. It hurts to be constantly reminded, and to an extent we know baby didn’t mean it. It’s a case of talking in a way that you think the other doesn’t mind since they pretend it doesn’t matter, so you keep doing it. Both came to a realization at the end, and I think that’s why baby cried so much. He probably realized he felt guilt cuz he 100% saw her as family and was blind to it like how Goldie was.
@Mgryffy
@Mgryffy Жыл бұрын
@@ma.2089 Yee, pretty sure Baby realized that Goldi must have been hurt by his 'jesting/teasing' given his complete turnaround as you say, and it kinda bums me as well to watch people reacting to this movie and not mentioning even once that Baby keep calling Goldi an orphan is kind of fucked up
@bluewolf6323
@bluewolf6323 Жыл бұрын
Yes! I kind of got tired of watching reactors call Goldi a straight up bitch or ungrateful because of her wish. She's being selfish but not downright malicious. She's an orphan raised by bears and they are her family but like Goldi said, how long is she gonna stay in that group? In this movie, she looks to be late teens to early adult so of course, she's gonna feel so out of place, especially when Baby bear doesn't understand that his comments are making her feelings of being out of place worse. You can only go so long with those feelings until you have to do something, so I get the complexity of Goldi's wish. The way that Momma bear still helps Goldi and says "If that's what you want, we'll help you." It feels like when your adopted mom finally allows you to search for your real parents. It's not being ungrateful to want to see what could've happened.
@Mgryffy

I believe that is just a popular myth (there's a shorts video making this claim but look closely and the title clearly says "parody"). One character I really love in this movie is Perrito. His backstory is so horrible and sad, yet he still has so much optimism, appreciates all the good things in life, and just wants to help people. Another near little detail most people don't pick up on. Death was never there to actually Kill Puss. He was so powerful, he could kill him at any time, but constantly let him go. No, what he wanted, was to put the fear of Death into it, and make him value his life. That is why at the end, he tells him "Live your life, Puss in boots. Live it WELL". His goal was always to teach the 'arrogant little legend who thought himself immortal', who never valued any of his lives, because he always had more, to actually value his life and live it well, and not just arrogantly throw it away like he was before. And in fact, every single time Death appeared, it did so at the perfect moment to get Puss to change into a better person. In the beginning he taught him to fear death, with death being the first person to ever cut him with a blade. The second when fleeing from Hornor's factory, was cause Puss fell back into his Arrogant ways, and him showing up quickly reminded him about his fears. The third at the mass battle during the River of Relaxations, is what pushed Puss to finally admit his his fears and regret, especially his regret at hurting someone so close to him because of his arrogance in his past lives. 'The legend being so big, there was no room for anyone else'. The forth, the confrontation in the Cave with his past lives, finally confirming where his fears came from, and telling him exactly why he was after him. Cause he never valued any of his past lives. Planting the idea of the issue in his head. Confirming that his past lives were indeed jerks, and should not be followed. And finally the final confrontation, where Death forces Puss to confront his fears, his fear of death and lost of his one last life, and to finally understands what makes him happy, and finally finds value in his life. As the saying goes, you never know what you have, till it is taken away from you. His life was going to be taken, and his final life flashing before his eyes, and reminds him of the happiness, and to value that life that he had made with Kitty and Dog. This story, and the Wolf's Arc were beautifully well crafted masterpieces.

This movie is great from a literature perspective when it comes to it’s villains! This movie showcases the three villain archetypes in a fleshed out and creative way! Goldi and the three bears: the empathetic villains. Goldi wants a family, the bears (specifically mama) want to support her regardless. In the end, they help the protagonists defeat a greater threat, making them redeemed. They’re relatable and easiest to understand. Jack: the irredeemable psycho. He literally is the opposite of Goldi, he grew up with everything and yet still wanted more. He has no regard for others and is selfish and narcissistic. In the end, he was (in my opinion) the TRUE villain. Wolf/Death: a force of nature. You notice that he WALKED THROUGH the wishing star’s barrier? It’s because he isn’t a mortal, he’s an unstoppable force. Death comes for everybody, which makes his hatred to Puss valid. Imagine you collect souls for a living and encounter thousands of good and kind souls who deserve a second chance. Then there’s Puss, who not only cheats him due to biology, but wastes his NINE chances so carelessly. In the end, he realized Puss is no longer the same and will treasure his final chance at life, which is why Death leaves him be. This movie is incredible, definitely a must watch! Especially due to its realistic portrayal of anxiety and panic attacks. It’s also the first movie geared to kids that mentions therapy, and moreover has a character say that someone needs therapy.

The "Little Jack Horner" nursery rhyme started off as a political satire posted in a London newspaper. Don't remember the exact details, but iirc, in short, it was lambasting someone for acting high and mighty for doing something nice, when he actually benefited just as much, if not more. So having "Big" Jack Horner be a villain is actually kind of clever, and not just a bog-standard fairy-tail-twist! Eta: "Perrito" is essentially Spanish for "doggy," which Puss and Kitty used since he didn't have a name at the time.

Little Doggy~ And Gatito is Little Kitty! And it's always the "smallest gestures" that mean the most in this movie (Gatito blade saving Puss' life, and showing that with the help of Kitty he can appreciate and live his last life) Also Death at the end says "why the hell do I always have to play with my food!?"

Something that *I* noticed, and has really started to bother me is the various cheering sounds they used. When Puss throws the gold into the crowd at 11:21 for example. They used the same exact one earlier in the movie after he defeats the giant. That sound effect is *old as hell!* I distinctly remember it being in a kid's Tonka Truck game in the early 2000s lol. I wonder why Dreamworks went the "stock sound effect" route with those.

2:46 - He lifted the eyepatch and we're seeing it from the POV of the giant. So while this could be seen as a *way* to communicate to the audience, it's done in an organic way that's done within the confines of the story so it's definitely not *purely* a 4rth wall break. Also, Jack's thumb isn't swolen, it's stained. 20:22 - It is uncanny how many times I've seen reactions where they wonder when/want the wolf to show up again and it's *RIGHT* before the next scene where he appears. Either dozens of reactors from entirely different channels are all in cahoots/watched the movie beforehand to jump on the bandwagon or Dreamworks/the director has story pacing down to a goddamn *SCIENCE.*

The animation came from the movie "The Bad Guys" , they used the same kind of animations for this movie and that add so good dynamic.

Hehe I agree with your title. It 100% is my fav DW movie, not even a competition. Just perfect and emotionally cathartic for me in a time where I just lost my cat, who was like my emotional support animal. And it’s prob one of my favorite films of all time.

I don't agree to it being the best movie but it absolutely is one of the best movies dreamworks has done. Dreamworks is my favorite company and i am so glad it's going stronger than ever. I also agree that the intro is cute. I really think the new graphics are so cool and that it has so many refrences to Disney movies or other dreamworkes movies they are all so great (sorry for the poor grammer). But overall my all time favorite of dreamworkes will always be httyd.

I didn’t know people didn’t like this new Dreamworks intro! Yeah, it’s different and will take a couple movies to get used to, but it’s so cool and lovely to see a celebration of all that the studio’s accomplished! Not all the movies were great (looking at you, Boss Baby), but that doesn’t mean nobody liked them. They were still part of Dreamworks’ lengthy repertoire. I don’t see why Dreamworks shouldn’t have an intro like this.

In my head, death only came whenever Puss was afraid of losing his life, the reason he joined at the end was because Puss was about to lose his life with Kitty by making the wish. In my eyes, death is just the incarnation of Puss' anxiety.

so glad to see you react to this movie!! even cooler to hear that you also appreciate the anime influences on this movie's animation! would you ever consider watching anime for the channel? Even seeing you react to studio ghibli movies would be great!
