They're good fun, no warning. Had a good jolt couple days ago in California here. We have to put child safety locks on cabinets and drawers to keep glassware from falling out and making going barefoot dangerous. Shelves need little wires to prevent stuff falling off AND bolt them to the wall studs so they don't just tip over. I dont' use much glassware. There is also stuff that keeps things from sliding around like Earthquake Hold, or Museum Wax. Think of a ship and how they have every thing tucked away and cabinets and drawers locked so they dont' open when the ship tilts.

Grew up in SoCal. Went through several quakes and tremors. Most of them are small and you’ll notice the paintings, pictures or mirrors swaying from side to side. It’s pretty gnarly to walk upstairs and notice that.
