Oxford dictionary: “An ugly, twisted expression on a person’s face, typically expressing disgust, pain, or wry amusement.” It could mean a smile like Rye assumes, but yeah I’m more inclined to believe it’s the former definition given the context, and idk how well an animatronic from years in the past can give a wry smile or some other twisted expression. Inconvenient that grimace can mean either. But also iirc Rye has a degree in english or something like that so maybe I’m bold in correcting them.
@spiraltriggerex8 күн бұрын
@@ninjafreezer2215 the context makes more sense to be a pained look of disgust and not a smile. Even if it’s a smile it wouldn’t be a normal one but one that’s clear due to some type of pain or trauma. Unrelated, I also think he misunderstood what he read because it said metallic scent, which is likely just pointing to all the blood. I think it’s more likely that Edwin see all the blood from David’s car crash and see the pained look in his face while smelling the strong scent of blood everywhere imo

Just saying using the word grimace as evidence for why the flash backs Edwin has couldn’t be the death of David was an odd choice. If the way @ryetoast described it is almost verbatim to the book I would assume it was the trauma of David’s death.

Thank you for being flexible as usual on your thoughts Rye. I really don't believe there's that much crossover between the creative minds working under Scholastic with Scott and the creative minds working at Steel Wool with him. From that fact alone he clearly let Steel Wool be extremely creative in the game they were developing. Vice versa for those working on the book series. He may be steering this massive ship from the back seat, but those developing the individual parts of this franchise under him clearly don't have as much crossover as fans are imagining. Creative minds working in separate sandboxes allowed to use each other's ideas to further the franchise.

i have to be That Guy this time. whether Edwin is having PTSD over an animatronic attack seems less sure in my opinion. the biggest point in favor of the idea is that he was triggered by the sight of an animatronic, but it's not like PTSD triggers follow any particular logic -- being reminded of something similar (like associating the character with the child you lost) could be enough. and the fact that someone was grimacing doesn't mean anything -- _a grimace is not a smile!_ it's an expression of pain and overwhelming discomfort. that's backed up by the description of being "gut-clenching" -- a pain so great you bare your teeth and clench your gut. if we were talking about a smiling toothy animatronic, it would have said "grin." all of the (very vague) descriptions could fit a car crash just as well as another event.

Things I think. 1. I think the Mimic we see in Ruin is the OG Mimic meanwhile Glitchtrap - Tiger-Rock and Helpi are all just Mimic Variants created after at some point. 2. I personally believe that Jackie herself isn’t the Mimic but rather I think she is either being Controlled by the Mimic1 Programming or the Actual Mimic manages to take her Animatronic Suit/Shell and put it on as a way to keep itself hidden and deceive us into thinking Jackie is the Enemy (perhaps the Real Jackie is actually one of the very few Friendly Animatronics like Glamrock Freddy). 3. Seeing How Help Wanted 2 is Supposedly the End of Glitchtrap I think Tiger-Rock will take the Mantle of being the New and Modern Mimic Threat. 4. If Ryetoast theory on Vanny is right that I think it’s possible that Vanny could Potentially take Control of Tiger-Rock and use him to Wreak Havoc on our Heroes and Fazbear Entertainment LLC. 5. I think the Van we see could either be the Van that Killed David in the Books or it could be Henry and/or Edwin taking the M•X•E•S Console to the fnaf 6 Location. 6. In the TALESBOOKS say that Fazbear Entertainment once had an Entire line of Mimic Endoskeletons but were Discontinued due to Mimicking Human Behavior in ways they were t suppose to, perhaps during Secret of the Mimic we’ll see these Mimic Endoskeletons.

I think Jackie is the Lady D of Secret of the Mimic. In that she’s the first ‘boss’ so gets the most focus in promo material to avoid spoilers for stuff that happens further into the game. Since the Mimic endo is all about changing suits, Jackie is probably only the first we see of it. There’s also the sort of repeated motif of the upper torso without legs. Both Jackie and the version of Tiger Rock from the Storyteller are obviously without legs. We know the Mimic had to eventually be recovered after the initial story. It may be a cycle where removing the legs and mobility of the mimic was part of how fazbear was able to maintain some degree of control over it. So an incident Edwin had witnessed involving Tiger Rock may have ended in the mimic being stopped and having its legs removed again. Timeline wise, since the mimic story takes place early in fazbear history, 10 years later would be the time period after the closure of FNAF2 but possibly during the period when FNAF1’s location was open (or perhaps another failed revival attempt between those two locations). Fazbear, probably without either Henry or William at that point, would be desperate to keep the brand alive without either of the geniuses behind its creation. Repurposing the old Mimic endo would be a quick and easy way to have ‘new’ animatronics without a big investment. Perhaps this was when they first reconnected with Edwin.
@opaqueandbluefrommyphone43396 күн бұрын
I believe Jackie IS the mimic too. Despite similarities with their structure, Edwin gets the mimic from an old factory. Jackie was probably "turned off" and just left there. She was most likely the cause of the factory eventually losing business and getting shut down. Especially since she was incredibly dangerous. So God knows how long her endoskeleton was just sitting there, off, waiting to be discovered by Edwin. For all we know, she was in the factory for 10-20 years (personally I think it's around 15) until Edwin obtained her.

Here’s my theory (kinda) on why Edwin has PTSD from Tigerock, and how we can see it happen in SoTM: Tigerock didn’t do anything, Jackie did. After it did the deed (probably killed a kid), Fazbear said “well we don’t want to be wasteful” and just took the endo from Jackie and put it in Tigerock. Either Edwin saw this happen, or maybe was even forced to be the one to do it, and so he can’t see Tigerock the same way. Additionally, David’s plush was probobly a Tigerock one, so that’s just adding insult to injury. This way, we can see what happened IN SoTM!

I think the main difference between The Mimic and Afton is that Afton was at least present in the games before the books were a thing. The Purple Guy was seen through the minigames and revealed to be the grotesque animatronic zombie Springtrap. The books simply shed light on some of his goals and personality. The Mimic however is WHOLLY reliant on the books. Literally everyone assumed that Afton came back when Glitchtrap and Burntrap appeared because without the books, why wouldn't they? Heck, if the books still weren't a thing by the time The Mimic showed up in Ruin, literally everybody, not just people who don't read the books, would be like, "What the heck is this thing??" Even if you only play the games, you can still at least understand Afton to a degree. The books are merely supplementary material to "help" flesh him out a bit more, but with The Mimic, the only people who know and understand what it is are the people who bought and read the books which is an objectively bad decision when introducing your NEXT MAIN ANTAGONIST because not everyone can or thinks they need to read the books. So, the only choices here are to either waste your time buying and reading a bad series of books that only serve to create more confusion or hope someone at Steel Wool has enough common sense to introduce book elements in a way that doesn't require purchasing and reading a whole novel to understand. The former is a way of extorting more money from your fans due to a fear of not understanding the lore, and the latter is likely never gonna happen because nothing can be simple in FNAF.

Maybe Vanny is the Mimic, mimicking how Vanessa looks and sounds - maybe trained off of her, maybe trained off someone else. That's how we get the two Vanessas in the fire ending of security breach. Which is why she would be motivated to capture it in Ruin. With the Mimic's EMP ability, that would explain the weird eye effect when she's nearby. I'm sure this theory has come up before, but I don't remember seeing anyone discussing it.

I have a theory that 'henry emily' and 'william afton', being from the pre-help wanted era, are characters that are made up by fazbear to avoid any kind of lawsuit from real people when making their fake games. And that's why there seem to be so many parallels between Henry's and Edwin's story, and also why the puppet comes out of a gift box: it was designed based off descriptions of Jackie. The puppet 'gives life' to the animatronics by helping the spirits possess them. The mimic 'gives life' to the animatronics by sharing it's AI. This thought's been brewing in my head since last week's episode and idk, if there's any truth to it, it might help with theory crafting.

What was Michael, the Blob, and Baby just wandering around for decades not doing anything before being gathered in 6? It also leads to issues with the stuff in Security Breach requiring incredibly old characters to function. Question: Given that, in HW2, the Mimic model is wearing his stitched-up costume from the Scooper Ending of Security Breach: Ruin, does that possibility imply that the Mimic was wearing it in the official end to that DLC? And, if so, does that hint at the Scooper Ending as being the true Ending? Or could the Mimic have worn it as it chased Cassie to the elevator?
@Scholar57.08 күн бұрын
And what a surprise. Absolutely nobody commented. 😑
@SC-ec8xe8 күн бұрын
@@Scholar57.0 Why is that a surprise? Anyways, I think most people do think that, yes, the mimic wearing that costume in HW2 is verification of that scooper ending being the true (or canon) ending. However, that doesn't mean aspects of the other endings aren't true as well. For example in security breach clearly burntrap and tangle were real and existed even though the princess quest ending was the true (canon) ending. So like everything with this franchise the answer is yes...I think so (as of right now) but it might be complicated depending on what the next game or two that come out says. On the one hand I would think the fact its wearing that costume is confirmation however I also think that a great possible follow up game picking up right where the elevator ending left off (with cassie waking up after the elevator crash trapped even further down. I mean if that wasn't suppose to be the true ending then why throw in the line from Roxie at the very end saying "cassie?" and setting up more story to follow. So ya idk lol. Until we get confirmation in one of the next games it is hard to say for sure one way or another.

I've got an idea for how 1979 could work . What if the secret of the Mimic isn't related to Jacky (mostly) but the secret is that Tiger Rock himself, or at least a part of him (like his head), was used to make the Mimic. The game takes place before the books, the story happens and TR is revealed to be the master mind behind the slaughter, then at the end, we destroy him, but he is revived when Edwin uses his un-costumed head to make the Mimic.

What if the 1979 to get the plush is the year that David was born? That would put the mimic being made around 1983 which would put it into the 1980-1990 timeline

14:15 In fairness, trauma triggers don't have to EXACTLY match the events/environment/etc of the trauma event to be triggering. It would be perfectly plausible, for example, for Edwin to be triggered by tigers at the zoo or on tv, people in cat mascot costumes or mascot costumes that are mostly white, real life or fictional depictions of advanced robots that aren't Tiger Rock, etc. The purpose of the trauma response at an evolutionary level is the protect us- to make us respond SOONER and FASTER to a similar threat in the future to avoid harm. Its a feature of our brain's self protection to not only react to the exact scenario/perpetrator/etc. All this to say, its not good evidence to go off JUST his reaction being to the animatronic and not the plushie. The grimace part feels more compelling. I hope this doesn't come across as pedantic- as a therapist, this is just something that stood out to me, and I wanted to provide some clarification.

When discussing inconsistencies with the FNAF overarching lore, creators really need to pay more attention to Scott's history as both a developer and writer where FNAF is his first IP where he's even needed to think about pulling together a consistent universe over multiple games and spinoffs. This would create even more complications when he needs to rely on other writers - of which most have more training and practice in the actual writing side than he has - to flesh out his universe. I don't think we've seen any deep dive on these difficulties.

I totally agree with the thing you said in the end. Sure I get why people don't want to read all of the mimic books to get the story but like come on...without the novel trilogy we would know almost NOTHING about Henry, in fact we wouldn't even know he exists!
@captainspock3p078 күн бұрын
To discuss the timeline issues, I think it all still fits just fine. Special Delivery is suggested to take place in 2019 and 2020. So it makes sense that the Pizzaplex opened by 2019, and SB could take place in 2020. And this would mean fnaf3 and fnaf6 wouldn't take place in 2023, but instead in 2015, which ALSO allows FrightsGames to fit cleanly.
@samoanjoseph14578 күн бұрын
The Mimic "chored" people to death. You know what that sounds like to me? Making multiple kids explore a sprawling pizzaplex doing tasks only to get killed during or after.

Two questions: 1) Didn't Help Wanted establish that FNAF 1, 2, and 3 are games within whatever world exists for this universe? If so, then the dates in FNAF 3 would be compromised. 2) Is it possible that the Tales books are just created by the Tiger Rock system, since its job is to create stories? If so, then that would explain how the tiger plushie could exist in the system (self-awareness, or at least self-reference) and how the timelines could line up.

No tiger rock yet because Jackie is the mimic endo before taking on any agony from Edwin/david. Maybe make the mimic program is added to it? Also perhaps the dates issue is cuz the person who made Jackie (cough cough the puppet) is Henry and then LATER Edwin turns the endo skeleton into the Mimic.

The event that Edwin remembers could be someone dying inside of the Tiger Rock animatronic. This would explain the metallic smell being the one of blood and metal in the animatronic, the screech could be the person feeling the pain of whatever caused the death and the grimace being the one displayed on Tiger Rock’s face as seen on the plushy in Help Wanted 2. This would also explain the blood and other body parts in the neck of the Tiger Rock plushy. Might be wrong but I don’t know
@nerp10189 сағат бұрын
I feel like The Secret of The Mimic will be another Bonnie Bro scenario and could mean that Edwin witnessed The Bite of C.C which is why he went into robotics at all like Bonnie Bro. Jackie could also be the smiling figure since they are one of the clearest depictions of a character smiling that is shown in the games but that’s more just a narrative guess.
@sarahcatherine54978 күн бұрын
Edwin is really just another iteration of William. Mad scientist who loses his son (Dave/David) in a freak accident and creates (purposefully or not) evil animatronics in the aftermath. They are then both killed by their own creations.

I defo feel like the books are more meant to be nods in the right direction for a general outline of the story going forward, not concrete step-by-step tellings of the game story, with the writers likely having at least some leeway with dates and all that being pretty good evidence towards that.
