Ryland,, Thank you for sharing this tech tour! Brian’s closing comments really nailed it for me, it spoke volumes so much so it’s allowed us to see his and his teams Heart for God. This is so important when we see things like this, we can sometimes make the mistake and think it’s all about the lights and the fancy media. I can truly say I enjoyed seeing all of the behind-the-scenes of people that makes it happens day in and day out. May God continue to bless you and your ministry. Dyland, keep up the great work you are doing, sharing your knowledge with us in different locations around the world, helping us to improve our serve to God in our local churches. THANK YOU!!!

We use to have a play where we flew people and had 3 tracks at one time. But it was soo expensive. And we have a 3000 seat sanctuary, but it was a huge production we did for about 30 years and kinda known for it but we stopped doing it a few years ago. I was on staff the last time we did it and I learned how taxing it was on our volunteers and staff members to pull it off. Seeing it come together was all worth it though. So it’s so cool to see this.

I work with many small robotics motors for precision motion control. A typical small motor has an incremental encoder with 500 lines. As the encoder is bi-phase to measure distance and direction of motion, and there are 4 transitions er line, it provides an effective resolution of 2,000 lines of encoder data per revolution of the motor. A typical small stepper motor without micro stepping is 1.8 degrees per step, a much lower resolution than a typical servo using an encoder.

We go to Disney for Christmas because of the entertainment and excellence… So why should Christians provide “average” production & entertainment for the world to experience? The boring Christian mindset is terrible… go ye into ALL the WORLD! Going into the world with a “Disney” level presentation is one step CLOSER to getting them to give their lives to Christ, come to bible study and baptism! Great job Ryland! 🔥🔥🔥

I would guess that extensive soundcheck goes into this that every band member has a good level of clicks and cues in their ears, and through my experience as a musician, most of usnwho re professional (or just really good) rarely ever have timing issues and therefore won't lose the click. I am a keyboardist, and when I play with different bands most of the timing issues happens when the drummee either can't hear the click well or just downright have timing issues🙈🙈

@dg3media4 күн бұрын
Ah, easy question to answer, because even though they can put on a big budget show like this, no one is making a profit on it. There is no ownership, no shareholders. A huge part of the overall budget goes to charity work, the ticket sales for the show go to pay for the show. The show is used to get people into the church who normally don't want to go to a church service. It's all ministry work.

This is not a church. This is a live production house. It's pretty insane the amount of money these mega churches spend on AVL production. Millions of dollars. Yet the streets are full of homeless, hungry, and poor who need help and Jesus. But to the mega church, the production is more important...

While I can agree that every church is called to different outreaches and that this is freaking cool - when is it too much? I appreciate the main guy at the end and his heart, but sometimes when we are neck deep in things we can lose focus on keeping the main thing the main thing, even if that’s the intention. At what point does the multi million dollar production lose its edification towards God? We were part of a 10,000 plus per weekend church in Nashville that was doing 2-3 large scale worship nights per year. Full production to the gills. Then they realized that all of those resources could go into the community to actually help rather than putting on a spectacle. Yes, I believe we should do everything with excellence, but I also believe we serve a God that will accept the praise on a small or large scale. At this point this church has a reputation and now every year will chase to have the next “big” thing and will want every year better than the last. I am not condemning what they are doing, but I do question from a high level the intentions behind it. Also, I do believe that if one person came into a saving relationship with Jesus because of the GOC event, then it’s worth it. It’s just a hard pill to swallow seeing all of those resources being used for a “show”.
@RylandRussell5 күн бұрын
Thanks for taking the time to share! What a lot of people don't understand is that the "resources" are tickets sales...to see the concert. The church has MANY ways that they serve the community with their normal budgetary resources.
