Great review ! I'm try to decide between this and the new 150w power source. Like the size of the 150, but love the capacity of this 1000.

I'm trying to get the 150w power source that also charge battery but it's always sold out here and our Canadian DTO doesn't have access to this as of yet. I'm going to do some reviews about all the inverters I own at my off grid trailer this summer.

I lost the gold washer that goes into the terminals can I replace with any washer? I have some silver ones that look like they fit.

@andyc4670 gold plated make the best connections but regular grade 5 or grade 8 washer will work too.

@Toolspecs I picked up some brass washers from home depot does that work to? Also I've been using a coffee machine that only spikes up to 725 watts however the Ryobi shows I'm under 12 volts goes to 11.1. I'm using it on my car with engine running. It seems to work ok but If my radiator fan kicks on it jumps to 13.5 volts and then my inverter shuts off
@ToolspecsАй бұрын
@andyc4670 yes brass is a very good conductor. Wow, which coffee maker do you have? Most of them are 1000w +. I never connected mine to my truck battery while it's running, that too bad that it shut off the inverter when the engine fan kicks on.
@andyc4670Ай бұрын
@@ToolspecsI'm starting to wonder if the inverter is the issue, as I don't recall it behaving this way before. I recently replaced my old 900-watt coffee maker with a Mainstays 5-cup coffee maker from Walmart, which pulls around 730 watts. The old coffee maker used about 875 watts, which I could understand causing problems. What worries me is that the inverter drops to 11.1 volts, and when the radiator fan kicks on, the voltage jumps to 13.5, which is when the inverter shuts off. One solution I’m considering is to only use the inverter for making coffee when the car is cold so that the radiator fan doesn’t come on. This way, the coffee should be done before the fan has a chance to activate. However, I wish it could work simultaneously without issues, which has me thinking there may be something wrong with the inverter, so I’m considering a warranty replacement.

Most people make too big of a deal about pure sine waves. If you are running something so delicate and important why would you be using a $100 Ryobi inverter anyway?

Can you hook the new Ryobi solar panels to this inverter. Can this inverter be used to charge 18v batteries?
@Toolspecs Жыл бұрын
No you can't connect this inverter to the new solar panels butyou can use it to charge 18v batteries connecting the panel to the RYi150C. Because the solar panels ports are USB and USB-C. 60 WATTS is not much power, it will take 1 hour to charge up a dead cellphone. The typical car battery that this inverter is made to connect to range between 4000-8000 watts. I guess I should do a overview of all the new products coming out......there's so many.
@rwachtell23 күн бұрын
If you want to connect solar panels to this inverter you can do that if you are using a 12 volt battery by simply connecting the solar panels to the 12 volt battery so that they charge the battery while it is also powering the inverter. You can do that with any solar panels and charger panel. Just make sure you are using a good charger with the panels that will not overcharge the battery if your solar panels are putting out way to much solar charge. And just plug in your normal 120 volt charger into this inverter for charging 18 volt batteries. I do the 40 volt batteries this way too. In fact I charge all my batteries this way.

Does this jump cars off or does it only pull power from a battery?
@Toolspecs8 ай бұрын
It's not a car jumper. It's a inverter to charge usb device and run 120v components around the house.

@MrZedblade9 ай бұрын
I'm surprised nobody is asking this. But can you disable the 120V AC plugs and output *just* the low-voltage ones (usb/12v car etc?) Or, is Ryobi smart enough to disable them automatically when nothing is plugged in? The reason you would want to do this is that 120V inverters are notoriously inefficient. Many will drain your battery even if nothing is plugged into the AC plug. You don't always need 120V AC and it's better to disable it when it's not being used.
@Toolspecs9 ай бұрын
No unfortunately you can't disable the 120v plug but I reviewed the CAT Lithium power station and there's a switch for this one.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but Ryobi completely failed when designing this unit by not allowing recharging the 18v battery when hooked to an external power supply. Epic Fail

@Toolspecs Жыл бұрын
Every times you leave a battery connected to a tool there's always a chance that some electricity will leak pass the switch. I think that there's even more chance of this happening with the HP tools and batteries because there's circuits that keep monitoring each other to increase performance.
