It might interest some to know that in SF1 Ryu was set up for a possible romance with Gouken’s daughter, but this was later waived in favor of giving them a brother-sister type of relationship (though she’s never appeared in the games, both Sakura and Makoto are the results of previous attempts to bring her back). There was a SF1 manga released in the 80s called “Mysteries of the Hadou: Prelude to the Struggle“ that had a near identical scene between Ryu and his master’s daughter, with the one where Rinko watches Ryu train with the tree.

I agree. I get ryu is a monk and has no interest in relationships or sexual desires. BUT I think after everything he went through it would be so fitting for him to actually settle down and have a child! He himself was an orphan, so this would be a nice conclusion to his story imo

Story and character wise Ryu , chun li ,makoto , akuma and To a lesser extent akuma are too Dedicated to their martial arts To settle down in a relationship. That's more ken masters thing with Eliza Or Guile taking his own advice with Julia / Jane

Having Ryu have someone waiting for him at the end of his journey would be a huge change of character. The game, Ryu doesn't seem like the type of guy interested in a relationship, or normal life. Just fighting. The point is, his journey has no end. He will never find the answer he is looking for.

In all honesty, given how plain Ryu's portrayal has always been, the only character with whom he might find that kind of connection is Chun Li, due to how much he respects her as a fighter. Sakura might be a close second, but there's a bit of an age gap that can be somewhat problematic.

Yeah b4 Ryu was not in mood but now considering that he was actually concern about his appearance in SF6 in the city, thus asking Chun li for advice can make possible for Ryu to be interested in his 1st love interest thus going back to her if Capcom let's it but then again there's Chun Ii and Ryu going to her for advice could change things. Plus how are we sure that she isn't married after all these years.
