Yeah he wasnt supposed to go in the other door if he wanted the true ending but even that wouldnt have killed him if he either didnt activate the p switch or if he had waited it out. Definitely an oversight on the level creators part they either shouldve made it so you couldnt go back or not put the p switch in that room at all.
