Also I’m pretty sure recharging takes a decent amount of time. My desire is to travel to the coast on my bike which is about 100 miles away. I’ve always loved the idea of electric but I can’t justify the high cost with how much I personally would get out of the bike.

What are you using for audio for this video? Also what do you recommend for bluetooth/intercom for your helmet, based off of your experience?
@MissGoElectricRideReviews2 ай бұрын
The microphone we use is the DJI Mic. amzn.to/3TeIEB8 It was very windy so we had to hide the microphone inside the jacket during the standup sections. That placement does an injustice to the tone these microphones are capable of capturing, but it made all of the audio usable. There is some post-processing on the audio to remove wind noise during the on-road portion. The microphone was placed inside the helmet with a dead-cat filter while riding. We use the FOD FX8Pro amzn.to/3XcZ65T We use it rider-rider communication and bluetooth audio. We are happy with them. We haven't tried anything else so we aren't sure how much better others might be. I can say we have had no trouble with battery life and range is 1/2 mile or so as long as the antenna is extended on each unit. -Producer Tim

This is an electric motorcycle, legal on road and highways with DOT certification. It looks like eStraps produces only electric bicycles. The 5.4kWh battery you've mentioned is by far the largest we've ever seen on an eBike. It is indeed more capacious than the 4.3kWh battery in the Ryvid Anthem. We aren't sure that feature alone sets the eBike above the Ryvid Anthem. That said, one of our first reviews was the Surron XX and we had a great time on that. Our first eDirt bike review: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oIDIgpqhf9Wdibc Now that Luna is pushing the Talaria MX5 and the Stark Varg is on the market, the options for dirt bikes are numerous. This performance/range seems similar but better thanthe Kawasaki E-1, which is now in some dealerships. Kawasaki is pricey for a small range e-motorcycle. Both have too small of a battery to be very practical unless you stay local. That's been the challenge with e-motorcycles. We're not aero on the back of a bike, so our motorcycle efficiency isn't as awesome as we'd hope. It's better at lower speeds, just like with cars. Depending on who you ask, we all average 22 - 40 miles of driving/riding a day. That's a really low number which means we could all be mimicking the many Asian populations who generally have always relied the economy of 2 wheeled transport. I'd love to see Ryvid perform a Life Cycle Assessment to show that this represents a truly mor sustainable choice than even an EV car and allow people to understand that minimalism is necessary to match our necessary goals of zero emissions, including power and vehicle production.
@MissGoElectricRideReviews2 ай бұрын
When dealerships (middlemen) are involved, purchase prices go up up up. In this review, Miss Go Electric reiterated that the official range projections are based on a 0.7 drag coefficient. Our pickup trucks are two times more aerodynamic with rating of 0.3. The most efficient automobiles on the road are at 0.2. Drag increases as about twice the rate of velocity. Energy efficiency is diminished disproportionally as speed increases. City riders can cruise for several hours on a single charge. For many, the inability to safely carry cargo like groceries, hardware, passengers, can be a deterrent from riding a motorcycle exclusively. Of course, weather is also an important factor which limits the practicality of motorcycles as a daily replacement, too. Safety is also a factor. Thanks for sharing your views, Karl. -Producer Tim
@karlInSanDiego2 ай бұрын
Force of drag is proportional to velocity squared not 2v. But power required to overcome that drag uses the formula P=Fd X v. So the power required to overcome drag is proportional to velocity cubed.

Some electric motorcycles just aren't there yet especially with the higher cost. Why pay that much when you can get ebikes with almost 100 miles of range, about 40mph, dual motors, no license, insurance and registration and cost under $3,000.00? I mean how often are you really going to drive it at top speed especially when it'll probably be used for urban commuting and not freeway/highway use? Just a thought or 2.

An e-moto like this will go 75 miles at 45-50MPH keeping up with cars with ease. A typical higher-end e-bike will top out around 40MPH and go only 20-25 miles, and depending on where you live, 40MPH ain't gonna cut it, more people drive over the speed limit than under. The only e-bikes that ever came close were ones with direct drive hub motors like the ONYX RCR and CTY2 and it's only now, years later that we have bikes to replace them; Spark Cycleworks Javelin & Brute, and Lyric Graffiti X just to name a few, but still with nowhere near the range of a true e-moto. There's a bunch of other e-motos that can go beyond 100 miles, but aren't nearly as affordable as the Anthem or Outset. The only other one that comes close is the Land Moto District but that's near $10k with the largest battery.

@MissGoElectricRideReviewsАй бұрын
You have shared data which is predicated on a number of misconceptions. More than 95% of our charging happens at home, not out in public. If we do charge in public, it happens seamlessly while we are doing something at the destination. We are *very rarely* "waiting around" for any period of time. After 1200 charges the battery is neither dead nor worthless. The battery is projected by Ryvid to have 80% of its range remaining at 1200 cycles. Remember, battery prices drop every year. They've done so for decades averaging about 10%. If a person wants to buy a 4.3 kWh battery in eight years, the cost will be a fraction of today's MSRP. Don't forget, any internal combustion motorcycle powertrain motorcycle will have cost the owner significant maintenance and repair bills after 8 years and 60,000 miles of riding. Buyers will need to account for that expense and time lost. The EV powertrain will require little to no powertrain maintenance cost. Also remember that a degraded battery contains 100% of the valuable materials it did when it was new. The secondary market and recycling facilities pay for nickel, lithium, manganese, and cobalt. It is cheaper for manufacturers to source from a decommissioned battery than to mine, refine, and ship raw material. One more thing, in a recent interview with the Ryvid CEO on our @MissGoElectricIndustry channel, we learned that the charging hardware within the battery unit is responsible for about $1,000 of its cost. That hardware does not meaningfully degrade. -Producer Tim

@MissGoElectricRideReviews2 ай бұрын
Cheat? If you don't know how to ride and care for a horse, are you cheating by riding a motorized vehicle? 100 years ago, some would have said yes. Many decades ago the department of motor vehicles removed a mandate requiring that students learn to drive a car using a manual transmission. Passenger vehicle drivers no longer demonstrate proficiency operating a clutch pedal at any point during driver education. Is everybody who drives an automatic vehicle cheating? Almost every vehicle sold today features onboard navigation. Are drivers without paper maps in the glovebox cheating? Naw. Technology advances. You seem to have claimed that it is "proper" for humans to utilize inferior or antiquated methodologies. That kind of thinking is counter to civilization. Anyhow, you may have misunderstood the entire story. Miss GoElectric was forced to study and certify on an old fashioned internal combustion motorcycle. She completed the certification and possesses a motorcycle license in the state of Michigan. She earned the endorsement adhering to exactly the same terms as every other rider who has every certified. The point is that electric motorcycles exhibit a different set of properties and it would greatly benefit everyone if new riders were able to receive state-mandated instruction upon motorcycles which fundamentally operate similarly to what they will spend their lives riding. -Producer Tim

Classes and testing where I am can be done with auto trans ICE motorcycles so I don't see any reason to exclude electric powered motorcycles, which are just auto/non-shifting with a different power plant type. Most of one's training/practice primarily occurs outside of the class/test environment so what's the fundamental difference?...testing is mostly about awareness and control of a different type of vehicle. The Africa Twin is ICE auto which I can test on. But if I never ride any other mc, I still wouldn't know manual shifting. Is that "cheating?"
