guys all of the 3d printer base and the top support angles are same length due to fixed smooth rod length and the rest of the right and left arm dimention are depend on threaded rod so it means that you need 5 nos - 400mm , 2nos- 440mm or 500mm extrution for this project

For all those who were search ing dimensions you can take any but bigger than 20inch. Steps uploaded to Arduino are same and take care heat bed placement settings. The base should be minimum 20×20inch (From base I meant to say the area where heat bed is fixed.) And height should be roughly 25inch(min) . Acrylic sheet mount should be taken in respect of stepper motors. That's all rest you can check. In video. He night not wanted to reveal the lengths or he knew we can take any.

people who are watching this in 2020, back in the day it made sense to make a 3d printer but now you have printers like ender 3 which cost less than the bom of this build, unless you want to make it to learn something i wont recommend to make a 3d printer just buy an ender 3 or an ender 3 v2, they are amazing 3d printers for the price

what are the measurements for the 7 channels you cut and where to drill for the motors and rods and how long are the pieces you cut at 4:20 and where to drill?
@roselldessert13776 жыл бұрын
Some Advice: First of all, instead of just zip tying to the bearings, use actual bearing blocks to screw onto, it is the same, but it is more secure and might yield better results on print quality. Second of all, Arduino is not the best to use for this and I would use an actual motherboard, even an anet a8 motherboard, but I get that it is based on a budget. Last of all, based on what I see, he is making a Prusa Mendel i3 clone. If you are going to print, make sure that on the stl cutting software, Cura is a great software to use, that you set the machine to Prusa Mendel i3. It will most likely use gcode files to print and if you use the wrong machine it could give you the wrong file and not only that, but it could also throw off your print bed dimensions. Just for reference ;) EDIT: pls add dimensions, if anybody knows precise dimensions pls reply

Why did you add 2 stepper motors on one specific axis and not one like the other two axisses?
@boris54487 жыл бұрын
Btw awesome build!
@AdrianStaicu827 жыл бұрын
Boris Z axis requires lift on both sides, otherwhise the weigth of the printing head would pull the head lower when the head move to the far end. Lifting on both sides, shares the load and will also keep the X axis aligned. Motors might share the same signal so they move in perfect sync.
@mutedsounds2k7 жыл бұрын
Wouldn't a COUNTERWEIGHT be enough? Think to elevators (lifts).
@AdrianStaicu827 жыл бұрын
If you have a stronger frame this can be done with one motor. But print carriage moves so the weight is moved around. So if you only have one Z-axis it will need to support the entire weight, and things might bend, so you would need a stronger structure. If stuff bends, it can get stuck, so you can't have a guide rod on the other side. So it's simpler to put two motors to keep all levelled and share the load. Another solution is tho have belts drive both screws at the same time.
@mutedsounds2k7 жыл бұрын
So why not making a structure which doesn't bend at all?

saying that this means the build is 12x12 inside, and the outside aluminium being 1x1x14 x2 and 2 pieces being 1x1x12 or so. Hope this helps, my dimensions make the most sense for this build tbh, and is the most logical build dimensions, thought mine aren't exact.
