S AM Calls: Theo Deutinger

«S AM Calls» is a series of Instagram Live conversations with practitioners and thinkers from the world of architecture on the pressing questions driving the built environment today.
For the sixth installment of the series, S AM Director Andreas Ruby spoke with Theo Deutinger, architect, author, and the mind behind "The Handbook of Tyranny" (Lars Müller Publishers, 2018). The conversation touched on topics such as Deutinger's analytical process, his newest project mapping "pandemic space" with students at the University of Kassel, and other observations on how COVID-19 is giving rise to new spatial phenomena.
The studies on pandemic space discussed here can be seen in full in the exhibition "Under the Radar" at the S AM (until August 30, 2020), where they complement Deutinger’s own contribution.
