First time listening to this song and I'm hook. Love music like this than the music of today. Music today lacks individualism. Not all though. There are a few music like Janelle Monae, Chrisette and Avery Sunshine etc that I listen to because they remind me of this type of music. So unique and beautiful. It talks to me and it give me a powerful message. It uplifts me and fills me with so much emotion. I can understand and relate too. Most music of today I can't relate to so I won't listen to them. Besides oldies are the best and will be to the day the world ends. My children will only listen to music like this one.
@mrorionfan110 жыл бұрын
I so agree - I can relate to this music. Just listened to Cherelle and Alexander O'Neal "Saturday Love" and "Come Let Me Love You" by an artist that I know but can't remember her name - 1981 hit. We had a club with a lit dance floor in Charlotte back then that I cruised to every Saturday and Ladies Night on Tuesdays!!

airilove17 Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis wrote this song and worked with the SOS Band almost right away after a falling out with Prince, who was basically in control of their band, The Time. Guys that had been working with Prince for years. The rest is history. The next performer they would set off was Janet Jackson and they worked together for her first 3 commercially successful albums. Around the same time they wrote a big song for The Human League. It's important to not that Jimmy Jam's Father (like Prince's Dad) is a Jazz Musician. Many of the so-called "musicians/artists" today don't have the background to make "full" arrangements and most of the fans don't have enough knowledge to demand it, that's until they put their guard down and listen to what has happened musically over the last 40 years before the solar system started revolving around them at their birth. Check for Loose Ends/ The Real Chuckeeboo (album&medley). I bet you'll like it!

the guitar is incredible. the things that you can do with a few distorted chords !(less is more) ...and yes, the texturing bass, with that slapping sound is super,,,(I think they played the bass and a synth that did another bassline to create a super groovey effect, but I'm not sure) . This song left a big influence on all the artists of that era like The Breakfast Club, early Madonna and similar...let's not forget that the producers were connected with Prince

This was a time in life when people were happy and carefree, looking back, it felt like a piece of heaven.

It was as you describe. The world was not as heavy in 1979. And songs weren't all bitter, angry, and hateful. It was ok to just dance, enjoy life and be young. Great music. 6:05

She's talking to the inner PIMP in you! Listen to the lyrics closely! She's expressing how much she wants to be PIMPED! It's her nature! She can't run from it or even hide even if she tried! Only Playas and Pimps overstand!

The SOS Band > Just Be Good To Me Mary Davis voice was something out if this world... This incredible track is timeless!! This song to me is about a woman standing by her man side at the forefront of their relationship... They are one without any utimatums just being good to one another... Is it antonishing on how many relationships are based upon people being good to one another... Much love to this legendary band.. their timeless jams ruled the 80s... I'm so blessed to be part of this era in music...
