Here we take a look at a new addition to the stable. The 327 Pug Nose. This is an interesting CCW wheelie in the sense its a caricature of a j-frame and it holds 8 shots of 38spl/357mag and about 25oz loaded.
Stay Safe and Check 360 Often!

I really don't understand how anyone could think this gun is ugly! IMO it's one of the best looking pcs I've ever seen..Awesome! But to each his own I guess.

Excellent revolver ...S&W did a great job designing the 327 --that ball detent lockup system should keep the cylinder tight for many firing cycles...

Personally, I love everything about this gun except the exposed hammer. That's why for me, the bodyguard model is more to my liking. Having said that, the 8 shot capacity is really nice. Too bad they don't make this with a shrouded hammer. Inside the waistband is how I would carry and I don't want the hammer getting caught on clothes when having to remove it quickly. Maybe with a lot of practice this problem could be eliminated. Nice review, nice gun.

Not ugly at all. I've got the Smith TRR8. Basically the same gun. Love all my wheel guns. Glad to see Smith & Wesson still devoted to producing innovative and quality revolvers. Wish Colt would've got their act together and done the same. Good vid. Kudos and congratulations.

IronMan Ozz Yeah most people do not "get it" and think it looks ugly as hell. 2" barrel? But I do feel this thing serves a specific role. I think it makes sense. I too wish Colt would start re-instroducing revolvers. How do you like that TRR8? I had been told a local SWAT team had used the M&P R8 for a little while but no longer do. What I don't get with that situation was they only loaded that up with 38spl+p not 357mag. Thanks for the comment!

Sweet! The point of a short barrel is in close quarters battle or hand-in-hand fighting your enemy does not have a barrel to grab onto And twist the gun out your hand. Being more concealable is really not the point when you have an N frame.

Congratulations to you my friend !! LOL...I ordered the exact same 327 from "H" well over a year ago. But, after about a year I gave up (in frustration), and used my deposit $$ to purchase something else from them (thinking that it would never arrive from S&W). I think that THIS 327 is the one that I ordered and it did FINALLY come in...lol. Dam, I should have been more patient...lol !! Enjoy your new addition to the family my friend...and I always look forward to your new postings.

Nice demo! I have the pd360 with exactly the same features but a J frame with a 5 shot cylinder. I even got hold of a nice wooden grip same color as yours. I swap it out occasionally with a three finger rubber grip too. Just need to find the right holster. Honestly its so light you very easily forget you have it .. my choice for a CCW.

My local ffl just got it in and its everything i expected and more. I cant believe how light it is. Once again. Thank you. You helped me make a decision i was stuck on. Hope to see more reviews of this pugnose.

desert 230gr It shoots great. Very accurate. I used Speer gold short barrel ammo. 135gr. I use it as a bedside piece. Close quarters. Definitely a beast. Very airlight yet surprisingly very manageable. Hope I answered your question. Anything you want to know. Glad to feedback. Good luck.

@TheOl1911
@TheOl1911 9 жыл бұрын
David Goldberg thanks for the comment - I believe this design was created in 2004 from what I was told. CCW in mind and even LE in mind. I am shocked that two guys I talk to here who are cops have purchased this just recently. One cop told me he will be using this as a back up pocket gun (????) in uniform and the other stated it will be his new duty gun. His current duty gun is a j-frame if you can believe that. But because of his role it makes sense. So still some LEOs out there (not many) that carry the old wheelie.

ERIC K. I do think this is a very specific type of gun. Not for everyone. Definitely for concealed carry. I remember its predecessor the S&W 242Ti which was the humpback L-Frame 38spl+p 7-shot. I don't think that model lasted long. But this one being an 8-shot N-Frame in .357mag that is highly concealable is pretty cool.
@Charger8921

If that fine piece of weaponry had a 3 inch barrel that would be perfect. 8 shots of Hornady Critical Defense would definitely be tough to argue with.
@TheOl1911
@TheOl1911 9 жыл бұрын
***** Thanks! Yes a ton of people are asking what is the point of that!?!? I'll have to do a video at some point. Have you tested any of the Critical Duty 135gr? I have a lot of the 125gr Critical Defense but I'm being told because of the titanium cylinder I have to be aware of what loadings I use. I've been told any type of "short barrel" is OK and 135gr - 158gr is safe...but 125gr be wary feeding a steady diet of that.
@Charger8921
@Charger8921 9 жыл бұрын
***** I am going to be completely honest with you. I have never fired a 357 magnum revolver I have only shot a .38 special. I actually do not own a firearm but I am looking at them very closely. I have gotten to shoot before and it is quite fun and enjoyable although quite expensive. I have already decided what I want my first firearm to be and that is a Beretta PX4 Storm INOX Full-Size 9mm. I have fired the subcompact variant of the PX4 Storm and it did feel right in my hand. The only thing standing in my way is finances with which to acquire the firearm. I have seen the video that tnoutdoors9 did with the critical defense 357 magnum and it is all out devastation. I haven't seen any ballistics tests with the critical duty in 357 magnum otherwise I would go with that provided it at least performs similarly to the critical defense.

I love and hate the revolver. I wish the cylinder was a black finish. because once you start getting burn marks it's hard to remove on titanium. Well from what I've read because I do not not own the 327 performance center Pug. Maybe Yankee Marshal's method of using scotch pad + hoppes 7 or M-PRO7 if you don't like the smell. Shoot that beast on video for us.

@TheOl1911
@TheOl1911 9 жыл бұрын
bprice1892 Thanks, it is an interesting color combo for sure. It will be interesting to see how it holds up to holster wear. Regarding speed loaders. I will only use SL Variants. I've gone through a ton of j-frames (and I'm about to do another switch with the 637 maybe for personal reasons) and I've trained and practiced using the SL Variants. I so wish SL Variant made an 8-shot loader. So I've had to train and practice with the 5-Star. But for the j-frame its always the SL Variant. Unfortunately there are none available anywhere. If you go on eBay people are selling them almost for $90!?!?!?!?! Its a $30 item...nuts. I will say the 5 Star speed loaders do work a ton better than HKS. The knob turns the opposite way than the HKS but they fit very well. Maybe take a look at a 5-shot 5 Star speed loader.

This might seem like a stupid question, considering the circumstances a gun like this would be used in, but wouldn't that destroy your ears when you fired it? I'd like a gun that i'd be able to use for CCW that would be good enough for stopping someone, but i'd also like to keep my hearing.

Parks Parks very true. Hence why I have changed my carry load to a more "reasonable" street load. Gold Dot 135gr Short Barrel 357mag. I got 1115fps - 1130fps so that's not bad. Lower muzzle blast/flash than the 125gr full houses and the report is much more tame (I mean still loud) than the full house stuff for sure! But stay tuned as I had a set back with this wheelie :(

Terry Palmer very nice - let me know if you have any thoughts or we can exchange 'notes'! LOL. What load are you going to use? Also be aware that nothing less than a 120gr magnum should be used in this thing. I've even been told to be wary about a steady diet of 125gr magnums!? Short Barrel formulas made by Gold Dot and Buf Bore are OK. Critical Duty 135gr also was suggested to me. I'm still experimenting with magnum loads though. I like the Buf Bore but after seeing the footage (coming soon) the blast is still a ton.

I'm using 158 GR. hollow points. And I love the Hogue Rubber Grips I put on it way more comfortable.

What are your thoughts on the pug nose vs m-686 performance center 7 x. Other than the weight and 8 shot vs 7 shot is the pug worth the money??
@TheOl1911
@TheOl1911 8 жыл бұрын
You know - If you are looking at a full stainless you might want to chk out the 8-shot version 627 snubbie. I think the pug nose is kinda a speciality gun. Its not a be all end all by any means but its something that you can have on you relatively all the time (sorta like a j-frame). I carry it still to this day religiously but honestly it would not be my first choice of carry if I knew I was gonna be in trouble. I am still very partial to the good ol 1911 pistol so... but the pug is more of convenience and I like the 8 shots but a ton of people do not feel this is a practical wheelie at all because of its 2" barrel. So...

When it come to kill power, i question the kinetic energy of the 357 mag. I heard of bad guys getting shot with 357 and lived to tell!!! I will stick with a 44 magnum theres no question of the power.

Dude! I would have them send me another screw immediately! There is no excuse for stripping a screw in the handle! My Goodness!!! They shouldn't call themselves "The Performance Center" looking at some of the work coming out of there. I just saw another video of a cracked frame from their performance center... They repaired it, shot it, and sent the gun back dirty!!!!

I really enjoy the R8. Performance Center trigger is fantastic along with 8 rounds!! I am not a fan of the 5". I think the Pro Series 4" is my next purchase...but I do have a 986 on its way to me as well. Hopeful the 9mm is as much fun as the r8!!!
