The Whistler lift system is crap. Too few lifts for the size of area given the very high price of the lift pass. Frequently key lifts are closed. One was shut permanently 2 years ago. There can be horrendous queues - especially at weekends when Vancouver residents descend on the resort. Queues in the morning at weekends can extend back to the village square!!! Very, very few places to eat up the mountain - I think there are only 4 or 5 eateries serving the same junk food across the 2 mountains. Night life isn't as good as Europe. Village is very 'sterile'; no alpine atmosphere. It also rains a lot because it is very low , receiving its weather directly off the Pacific ocean. Snow can be very good if it's cold enough; but can also be very heavy given its low altitude and very wet snow often arrives off the Pacific. Ski hire is very expensive. Enjoyed the snow whenever I've been there but less so in 2023 when the queues were really bad and many lifts were closed for far too long with it taking ages to 'blast' the mountain. Still good skiing but not good value for money given the extortionate pricing of lift passes and the time wasted in lift queues. A victim of the Vail Resorts takeover and selling too many lift passes (especially at weekends).
